The dangers of a strong front eight were exposed this week as those who benched or drafted out the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Odion Ighalo were left heartbroken. The great form of Mahrez and his team-mate Jamie Vardy dominated the thoughts of our community writers and hot topic posts this week. We also look at colourful team form, the latest stats from our Members tables and catch up on those who are at the summit of our community leagues, with a little help from Leicester’s stars no doubt.

The Community Articles

Jose’s Magic Omelette has taken a detailed look at the form of Mahrez and Vardy to see if they can be season keepers or not, while the duo also get a mention in Your Mum’s Athletic‘s latest Gameweek predictions based on what the bookies say.

Form continues to be the focus of The Sarjeant’s regular weekly community article. This week his insight has been bolstered by a colourful look at the best and worst attacks and defences over the last six Gameweeks.

Bowstring the Carp’s latest monthly review provides a fascinating insight into the players that helped shape October’s scores. He also looks ahead to this month’s fixture list to pick out some key targets to consider, with Rodellegabomb‘s analysis of a trio of bandwagons ahead of the weekend providing further options.

Meanwhile, congratulations to Bowstring the Carp who wins a £20 Amazon voucher after you voted him community writer of the month for October, fittingly for his monthly review series.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Mahrez and Vardy also took centre stage in our discussion on the merits of doubling up on attackers and midfielders from the same team.

There were certainly plenty of community members who were pleased they had both in their starting XI, according to our Rough with the Smooth round up of your best and worst Gameweek 11 decisions.

But Demi wonders whether investing in the duo is sustainable through tough fixturesDoolittle is also not getting too carried away and urges caution in considering captaining one of the pair against a resilient Watford side.

Leicester’s opponents were also the focus of Applebonkers, who watched West Brom capitulate against the might of Mahrez last weekend and wondered whether pacey wingers are their Achilles heel.

With the Sergio Aguero cash spent by many on midfield upgrades, plenty of the community find themselves with some tough selection choices ahead. Our discussion on the perils of a great front eight was particularly apt for those who benched a high scoring player last Gameweek. Help is at hand, though, with the All Out Attack chip, according to TorresMagic.

Elsewhere, S Kuqi is in the market for a new defender. Among options to be considered in his discussion on top defensive targets was Liverpool’s forward-thinking full-back, Alberto Moreno.

Arsenal’s problems in defence, with Hector Bellerin ruled out and Laurent Koscielny a doubt, mean their assets may be best avoided going into the North London Derby this weekend. Limpar was on hand with an array of statistics looking in detail at his regular fixture, while Zasa also provided a wealth of figures to prepare the community for all Gameweek 12’s matches. Sticking with the Derby, Neighmar provided an interesting analysis of just how effective Alexis Sanchez is when both Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are on the pitch.

Meanwhile, our Hall of Fame has been updated to take into account Gameweek 11’s games. Members can see the latest standings here. One community member who has seen his rankings plummet this season is Boris Bodega, who bravely shared his whole season of mishaps and blunders.

The Members Tables

With Philippe Coutinho, Graziano Pelle and Ighalo proving the worth of my goals imminent table, here is the latest update ahead of Gameweek 12Wakey’s latest table on team statistics over the last four Gameweeks gives a detailed look at how far Manchester United and Chelsea have sunk in terms of attack.

For those looking at investing in Everton Doosra has served up a deliciously named table called Doosra’s Toffee Apples looking at their best players over the last four matches.

The Community Tournaments

Congratulations to Wild Rover. He scooped £1,000 after gaining the highest October score in Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, the sister game of FPL. He is also in with a chance of winning the season-long game, too, as he is currently third in our league and sits fourth in the overall rankings.

Ahead of the launch of the FIFFSA Five-a-side competition, Gameweek 11 saw a friendly against those sides already registered. The full list of winners can be found here courtesy of Rodellegabomb’s update.

Jaffalicious also popped by with an update from the group stages of the FFS UEFA Champions League competition.

Evs takes his turn to play second fiddle to Andy in the FFScout moderators and contributors league. League leader Andy now has a 63-point lead and has a top 100 overall rank for the first time this season.

The first round of BaldersCommunity Grand Play Offs is now complete with a number of moderators and contributors leaving, while inTorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 46, which saw 141 players depart and 1588 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

How do you think City will lineup in attack tmrw?
The two Ferns have been playing really well so i cant see either being dropped(though considering the level of opposition one of them might).. Navas look great midweek and has been good this season(and yes i agree he had no end product last season.. he does this season) and he and sterling offer much needed width. Leaves 1 spot for Yaya/KDB and unfortunately i own both 🙂 though Yaya could play deeper.. Gonna be a nightmare to predict their team when Silva returns!

    Fernandinho Yaya
    Navas KDB Sterling

    Look about right?

KDB would be absolutely nailed on captain for me if I had clarity on this..

If Yaya plays no 10, with both the Fern's behind him, KDB on the wing is pretty poor from a FPL perspective.. we saw this when Sterling scored his hattrick..

in fact, when sterling scored his hatty, I think they played a 4-4-2 with kdb and navas on the wings..

Mahrez is on pens and has a share of set pieces.

Also more BAP friendly than Vardy.

I'd say Vardy is a consistent 6-9 points but Mahrez more explosive

Vardy scored a peno when Mahrez was not playing a few weeks back, then Mahrez missed his and cost Leicester the game in the Carling cup match. Vardy is now in line for breaking the record of goals scored in successive games.. all this points(to me atleast) Vardy taking the peno this week ahead of Mahrez 😉 .. so there you go

I don't think that's how it works. Mahrez missing a pen in the cup won't get him dropped from pen duties. But I will admit that if Leicester gets a pen tomorrow, Vardy will take it. If Leicester earns a pen and Vardy has already scored, Mahrez will take it.

Anyway it won't matter as Myhill will probably save it, lucky owners...

Vardy scoring a penalty when the main penalty taker is off the pitch doesn't really affect things.

Also, Mahrez's penalty that he missed was actually a great penalty, but an even better save from the keeper. I doubt he would be off pens just for missing one, and it wasn't even one in an actual game. Unless Leicester are like United 😀

@Diva, your SoT ticker shows Saints is second to Spurs this GW, but their total number of away goals really put me off. I am still undecided who to captain among them:

    a) Mane (He and Pelle are at the top from your ticker, since I do not have any Spurs players)
    b) Sterling (My differential player, and MCI is 3rd from your ticker)
    c) Lukaku (6 goals in the past 6 vs WHU)
    d) Rojo (Second lowest from your ticker, since I do not have any of the Saints defenders)

Any advice who should I captain based on your SoT and SoTC ticker?

The ticker likes Saints this week, not because of Saints - who haven't set the world alight away from t Mary's - but because Sunderland have been the worst team this season for conceding Shots on Target at home.

The ticker likes Man City because they are Man City, but doesn't find Villa too bad at home - but Swansea's been the best attacking opposition Villa have faced at Villa Park so far.

Everton aren't great away, but West Ham aren't great defensively at home.

      Personally, I wouldn't captain Rojo.

All of this is from a SoT only perspective of course and there are other factors to consider.

Any of my first 3 options sound like a good captain choice, but I think City seems to be the safest choice among them. So captain Sterling makes sense and a good differential?

Probably not a bad week to try a differential.

Difficult deciding between Mahrez and Vardy for (C)

Should i just leave it on KDB (only city attacker) to spread the risk ?

Most of the time, when I am undecided, I will captain from the players top the polls from most major FF websites. This is the defensive tactic to protect yourself to suffer a big drop, since most of the people captain him. I may be wrong.

Is Ayew really out of form? He scored against Villa and if not for missed chances, could've helped Swansea get something against Arsenal

We get half of price rise, you probably bought him at 6.7m.

    2. Whattamatter
      • 10 Years

profit goes up by .1 if he goes up in price by .2m

This means if you bought a player for 5m and he's now 6m, you only get 5.5m back when you sell him.

    3. Diva
      • 11 Years

Profit tax. When you sell a player you lose half of any profit you made on him, rounded down.
