Wildcard timing, the form of premium strikers and the fallout from the international break dominate this week’s discussions as the community eagerly anticipates the return of domestic action.

Our round-up also takes in the latest community articles, with our resident scribes full of advice on the best players to hand the captaincy to and where to find clean sheets in Gameweek 12.

Meanwhile, our Members’ Area statisticians have been busy gathering the latest data on teams with a strong run of fixtures over the coming weeks.

The Community Articles

The form and fixture data, analysed by YMA, strongly backs Harry Kane for the armband ahead of the Spurs striker’s trip to Arsenal. However, as the Career of Fame hall of fame top five, being tracked by Top Marx, found out in Gameweek 11 when he blanked at home to Crystal Palace, it can be costly to put too much faith in the Spurs talisman.

The crowd are also anticipating strong attacking returns from Spurs, but believe only one team is capable of keeping a clean sheet over the next set of fixtures, says Hutch_James.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Among the key lessons learned from our analysis of the Hall of Fame top ten managers is that Wildcard timing is key, with those who used this chip early missing out on Manchester City’s upturn in form.

Dugout followed this up by inviting Fantasy managers to take part in his survey of their ranks and when they played their Wildcard. After sifting through around 100 responses, he has been able to reveal whether the wider community’s experience mirrored that of this elite group.

All of the Hall of Fame top ten have kept their Free Hit chip in their pocket, with a deployment around the second half of the season blank fixtures likely. But Rhinos wonders whether using them during a double Gameweek may prove more lucrative.

Key issues for those Wildcarding this week, according to Jacky Boy, include whether to seize the opportunity to triple up on the array of premium strikers who have strong fixtures on the horizon.

Among those under consideration is Manchester United marksman Romelu Lukaku, who has split the community between those who have been left unimpressed by his failure to find the net since Gameweek 7, and those who think he will return to form in style with Newcastle’s visit.

Manchester City’s strike duo of Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero are also among the heavy-hitters under consideration. But when we asked for your views on the best Sky Blues cover it is their midfield where most of the interest lies.

Rotation is a key factor when deciding on which of Pep Guardiola’s troops to pick and, as FPL Freddo pointed out, this makes it difficult to captain their Argentine forward in particular.  Hobolicious is also unsure whether Aguero is worth handing the armband to this season.

There has been less chat this week around Kane, with his team-mate Christian Eriksen instead attracting attention as his hat-trick against Ireland took Denmark to the World Cup in Russia next year. Jinswick wonders whether the 70,000+ FPL managers to ditch the midfielder may regret that move in light of his international exploits.

Another player to catch the eye on international duty is Liverpool’s Joe Gomez, who impressed in both England friendlies against Germany and Brazil. Wakey believes the defender could be a strong option for home games, particularly as he looks set to continue at right-back with Nathaniel Clyne sidelined for another three months after undergoing back surgery this week.

The Reds defender was handed his England debut, against Germany, after coming on for the injured Phil Jones, who will out for Manchester United at home to Newcastle this weekend, according to Jose Mourinho. Given the previous concerns surrounding the centre-back’s fitness, we asked his owners whether he is still worth keeping ahead of the busy Christmas schedule.

With Crystal Palace’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek also impressing for England, we also canvassed your views on how Fantasy managers can best use the ‘eye-test’ to assess Fantasy potential.

The Members’ Tables

They are lost has been looking at the likelihood of starts among Liverpool’s ranks, while clmcc1991 has been delving into a raft of attacking data for his latest table.

The Community Tournaments

Matchweek 6 of the Community Watch tournament gets underway this weekend, according to Speedyboyzzzz’s latest update from the organising committee.

Any chance Lukaku rises tonight? Was going to get Morata in instead of Lukaku in case I change my mind tomorrow, although after yesterday I don't want to suffer another "Ben Mee" again.

Repost but I need to explain it better. I have 2 ft and 0.5 itb. Thats my team:

    Fabianki-Elliot
    Davies - Jones - Mee - Femenia - Long
    Salah - Sterling - Richarlison - Ritchie - Carroll
    Kane - Aguero - Morata

I will 99% transfer in Pogba for Ritchie. And I really want Davies out too. But I need to transfer out another player to do Pogba. I need to choose between:

    A) Fabianski out , Speroni in , have 4.6 for Davies replacement
    B) Jones out, have 9.3 for Jones and Davies replacements

      maybe

but not as clear cut as one could think. Vardy against City who never cares about cs as long as they score more and West ham is an uncertainty atm so difficult to tell while West Brom could be 0-4 but can easily be a tight affair Chelsea wins by 1-0 and Liverpool away needn´t to be the best fixture as the latter is defensively sound at home (depending a little on Matip fit i guess)

i think i will land on Vardy with 6+

Playing for future/coming cs, not past. And quite frankly, Bournemouth are shite defensively so not many cs there too imo. Maybe getting both in time would be a smart move? Along with a Brighton, Burnley and Moreno.. That´s a cheap defense line that actually can get a lot of points-)

Guess you haven´t watched Bou lately. They have tighten up. Dann could be a good option but he´s only 0.1 cheaper than Daniels, who plays basically as winger.

I saw them vs Newcastle and they were so lucky to not concede i almost ripped up my sofa (my rival had Daniels while i got Elliot). I´m not dissagreeing with you, but my point was rather aimed at the way you phrased it ("Daniels by a mile"). To me Daniels and Dann are viable options going forward because both have decent fixtures and i can´t see that Bournemouth is that much better than Palace defensively, from those games i´ve seen lately involving both teams (Bournemouths two latest and Palace last game).

Thinking of Chupou-Moting to Bakayoko which would give me £6.1m to replace Jones i.e Spurs defender or even David Luiz (which seems risky now!)

Are stats good for bakayoko over Choupa?
Wouldn't you want Jones next week?

His stats are okay for his price, probably not better than Choupo though.

Price and fixtures are better though

Thought you had settled on it mate? Great podcast by the way bud

      Stick with Choupo and Jones

Jones being out and potentially missing easy games over Christmas has me a little worried. Probably some last minute wildcard nerves! 🙂

David Luiz way down the list after his spat with Conte. Get some sleep and set an alarm for tomorrow early.

Oh no! If you're still sticking with the big three here's my two options I'd go with.
Downgrade Jones to the likes of Moreno and use that .8 to upgrade Choupo or Sterling. Otherwise downgrade CM and beef Jones to Vertonghen

I don't rate Bakayoko's chances all that highly, but I guess 6.1 would give you enough for Bailly if you wanted some Man Utd defence?

Jones not worth holding as he's meant to be only out 1 week

I would ride out the Jones injury for this week, Choupo & Jones look good long term than Baka & Luiz

Keep Vardy or -4 to Morata

I think they score similar over next 2 games. Swap GW14

Bournemouth's defensive stats haven't looked too great in the last few GWs. Have they been fortunate to only concede a handful of goals?

Just had a look myself - didn’t concede too many “big chances” but conceded a lot of chances. Interesting.... makes someone like Moreno and interesting thought.

I quite like Daniels though as he can always contribute with a bit of attacking threat

    Evening all,

Would you WC this team or could I get away with taking a -4 hit (Jones)?

    Pope
    Daniels - (Jones) - Davies
    Salah - Silva - Sterling - Richarlison
    Kane - Kun - Tammy

    advice appreciated 🙂

Looks okay, a hit should do but I'd want cover for Davies. Bench?
