The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy on two fronts this week, with the World Cup knockout rounds prompting discussion of Fantasy team strategies and the early launch of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League game catching many by surprise.
A few site updates, including members-only comments and the “undo upvote” function, have also been rolled out over the last seven days.
We’ve got a round-up of the week’s hot topics, and the usual array of Community tables and competitions, in our regular article below.
The Hottest Topics
Rewind seven days and the World Cup round of 16 was yet to begin. G-Whizz gave us his excellent bookmakers-influenced clean sheet odds after the climax of the group stage before ZoumasBloomers asked Fantasy managers their plans as Argentina, Spain and Portugal fell by the wayside and presented us with a host of selection problems.
Legomane sparked a “stick-or-twist” captaincy strategy debate as the last-16 progressed before Stat gave us a welcome heads-up on the players who were one booking away from suspension as we mulled over our quarter-final teams.
G-Whizz returned with more shut-out probabilities for the quarters, while discussion on taking hits for a stronger bench in the McDonald’s FIFA game divided opinion. 420king‘s price rise/drop predictions helped site users stay ahead of the curve.
Pumpkinhead gave us a straight choice, meanwhile: Romelu Lukaku or Eden Hazard?
Away from the Fantasy side of things, Polka Wakey O’Dot was effusive in his praise for this summer’s tournament: is this the best World Cup ever?
Red Arrows gave us a one-wish dilemma, too: England winning the World Cup or individual Fantasy football success.
The gaping void that was two World Cup rest days were partially filled by the launch of Fantasy Premier League 2018/19 on Thursday (thanks Hasselbaink Forever!).
NorthernBoysLoveGravs was straight in there with the quest to find the lowest FPL ID, while RedLightning put an early call out for mini-league details and codes.
The rate-my-team requests were quickly flooding in – panda07 with the first – with this hot topic collecting the subsequent RMTs.
Revival rounded up some bargain buys, while Ludo scrutinised Wilfried Zaha, Marko Arnautovic and the other reclassified FPL assets.
Stat brought welcome news about a change in the rules regarding the weekly prize.
The aforementioned FFS site updates, meanwhile, started with the rolling out of members-only comments and the “undo upvote” function. The first such members-only comment prompted discussion on the set piece and penalty data.
Another tweak fixed the “double sign-in” issue that had plagued the members’ area.
Community Tables
The launch of Fantasy Premier League has prompted two of our number to create some helpful tables to assist our squad selections for the new season.
Mattias has focused on bonus points and in particular which defenders are strong performers on the Bonus Points System.
FPL Virgin, meanwhile, has blessed us with a trilogy of tables looking at the best defenders, midfielders and forwards for the coming season.
Community Tournaments
Ahead of the quarter-finals commencing on Friday, competition in the Fantasy Football Scout mini-league for the McDonald’s FIFA World Cup game was hotting up. The top of the league read as follows:
1. Sladuna (289 points)
2. Ludaslol (282 points)
3=. Akihabara (273 points)
3=. Eunuch999 (273 points)

Our Mods and Cons league, meanwhile, shaped up like this:

2. JohannesN (236 points)
3. GSumner (232 points)

5. Geoff (213 points)
The latest update for Frøgball, which uses combined Fantasy scores to represent different nations, is here.
If you are running a community tournament or are thinking about starting one, and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email us a summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet, or head to head competition at geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.
