Best Spurs players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

2017/18 was a season of mixed fortunes for Fantasy owners of Tottenham Hotspur players.

Harry Kane matched his best-ever single-season haul for league goals (technically beating it after the Premier League goals accreditation panel retrospectively awarded him Christian Eriksen’s strike in the 2-1 win over Stoke City), but will also be remembered for frustrating blanks in home matches against Swansea City, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Huddersfield Town. A fair share of Fantasy Premier League managers will, meanwhile, still be ruing their “Kanexit” strategy in December when the England striker punished his deserting owners with back-to-back hat-tricks.

Christian Eriksen‘s total of 11 strikes (one subsequently scratched) was his best goal haul in a Premier League season, but the Danish international recorded only half of the assists (ten) he had managed in 2016/17.

Dele Alli scored 50 fewer FPL points in 2017/18 than he had managed the previous campaign, with his goal tally (nine) exactly halved. Even Son Heung-min‘s goal (12) and assist (eight) returns, as impressive as they were, were down on 2016/17.

Spurs’ wing-backs, most notably Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier, coupled their clean sheet prospects with regular attacking returns but were at the mercy of Mauricio Pochettino’s irksome rotation policy on the flanks; not one of the Lilywhites’ four full-backs started more than 26 league matches in 2017/18.

The north London club are, at least, a comfortingly unchanging presence amid this summer of big-money moves and new manager recruitment. At the time of writing, Spurs were one of only two Premier League clubs – the other being Burnley – who have yet to sign a player during the current transfer window.

Pochettino will be taking charge of Spurs for the fifth successive season, meanwhile, and we can expect the same brand of quick-pressing, attacking football he has cultivated in his four years at White Hart Lane. Although Pochettino occasionally rolled out a three-man backline in 2017/18, we will inevitably see more of the Argentinean coach’s preferred 4-2-3-1 system again this season.

JWP. One of the best set piece taker in the pl,if not the best, is being overlooked. Is it because Southampton were poor last season. Well I think Mark Hughes has got something good up his sleeves.

Hi Community, rarely do i ask for team advice as i like to try and learn, BUT i feel i just HAVE to improve my ranking on previous years. I nearly always start off only fairly and find i'm spending the next 4 or so game weeks playing adjustment catch up! By then the ship has sailed!

Please give me some insights into my planned starting team and with any luck, i can kick off a better start 🙂 I'm looking at a 3-4-3 system.

    GK: Ederson, Fabianski
DEF: Trippier, Mendy, Holebas ( Monreal, Peltier)
MID: Moura, Elyounoussi, De Bruyne, Mkhitaryan (Stephens)
    FWD: Kane, Arnautovic, Firmino

    Thanks in advance folks!
