FFS Cup

The winner of our latest FFS Cup competition revealed

The latest edition of our FFS Cup came to a conclusion in midweek, with Powell coming out on top after an 81-72 win over Manisaspor.

The pair shared seven of their starting XI going into Gameweek 37+: Nick Pope (£5.1m), James Tarkowski (£5.5m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7m), Bruno Fernandes (£9.1m), Kevin De Bruyne (£10.7m), Marcus Rashford (£8.9m) and Danny Ings (£7.6m).

Powell’s differentials were Erik Pieters (£4.3m), Christian Pulisic (£7.4m), Raheem Sterling (£11.9m) and Mason Greenwood (£4.8m), with Manisaspor’s unique picks being Matt Doherty (£6.5m), Raul Jimenez (£8.1m), Anthony Martial (£8.5m) and Phil Foden (£5.5m).

All eight of these players delivered at least one attacking return for their owners but Sterling’s 17-point haul was perhaps the key variable.

The pair opted for different captaincy picks, too: Powell backed Rashford, with his opponent plumping for Martial.

Powell took a hit ahead of Saturday’s deadline, too, bringing in Pieters and Tarkowski for an inspired triple-up on the Burnley defence.

Even that minus four deduction and a captaincy failure didn’t make a difference, with Pulisic’s nine-point haul in the final Gameweek 37+ fixture at Anfield rubber-stamping our winner’s victory.

Powell’s strong Gameweek was enough to lift him up to 343rd in the world, his highest rank of the season.

Manisaspor is tantalisingly close to a top 1k finish, meanwhile, sitting in 1,340th place.

In our third-place play-off, Sharpey defeated Joax2 69-63.

Once again, the pair shared seven of their starting XI and both managers joined Manisaspor in handing the armband to Martial.

The benching of Romain Saiss (£4.8m) left Joax2 without a third playing FPL defender, which proved crucial as Sharpey triumphed by the six points that Willy Boly (£4.9m) brought him against Crystal Palace.

Hauls for Alexander-Arnold and Greenwood on Wednesday also saw Sharpey home, who triumphed despite taking an eight-point hit going into Gameweek 37+.

On a BB for the final week. Neck and neck with my ML rival. Any hits worth taking here? .9 ITB, would need a -8 for Auba or Kane

    Pope, Button
    TAA, Aurier, Diop, Enda, Saiss
KDB, Salah, Bruno, Dilva (C), Saka
    Jesus, Rashford, Greenwood

Lots of Sterling TCers this week. If I captain Sterling it will be awful not to enjoy your captain and want him to blank...(impossible)

It means not that many people will own him and if you captain him you will get very large improvement in your rank every time he gets points

      Vardy Rashford Greenwood

      A) Bruno Rashford to DSilva Kane (-4)
      B) Mahrez Mane to Sterling DSilva (-4)

Can you afford Vardy Bruno>> Raz Ings ??

If not A looks good. Selling Mahrez for a hit to get another City attacker sounds rough with the smooth to me bro

I know it does... seems criminal not havin DSilva for his last game, but also risky as hell without Sterling (though he is currently in St Tropez lol).

So keep Mane? He is the easiest route to Sterling after all

          1. Amey

If we get early team news & Jesus is starting,

Vardy Bruno>> Jesus Son is also a good option mate

        That’s a nightmare Dakes!

Your defence looks perfect, but literally any of that front 7 could really burn you with a transfer out... Risky to say the least

I’d honestly be tempted to leave well enough alone there & roll with punches

*Maybe* Vardy > Jesus or Bruno/Mahrez > Dilva - but Vardy & Mahrez/Bruno could all easily return

A tough spot to be in mate!

        1. Top Lad Dakes.
          • 7 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

Really is bro haha. You’d keep Mane then, despite no shots against Chelsea? And Bruno away form does sway me from selling a bit... Mahrez also should be nailed, but has been crap from what I’ve heard.

And you wouldn’t try to get Sterling?

          1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
            • 14 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

Mane > Sterling could work yep

But apparently Sterling is on the lash with Piers Morgan somewhere sunny at the minute, and Mane is Mané up against a poor Newcastle team, so even then it comes with a health warning...

Can’t hurt to have another City attacker though in fairness, it’s just playing a bit of the old Russian roulette with who you transfer out

      3. Sailboats

I am tempted by that, especially with Mane not having any shots v Chelsea that’s rly offputting. Still could haul though ofc

A hit is not worth it this Gw. Many people have FH left, your team will be inferior to these people regardless of what you do.

    Henderson
    TAA, Doherty, Lundy
    Salah (C), KDB, Willian, Martial
    Vardy, Ings (VC), Jimmy
    (Pope, Evans, Manquillo, Traore)

Apparently (according to Reddit) if you’d picked this team in GW1 and made zero transfers and played no chips since then - you’d be OR1 with 2509 points

    It wouldn’t even have cost 100.0 (99.5)

What is crazy as that would have been a perfectly reasonable GW1 team too - is it’s quite likely someone started with that team

Someone might perhaps have started with the same starting eleven, but extremely unlikely that they also chose the same vice-captain and bench.
The best bench is impossible to guess in advance, since it depends on which game-weeks the starting players will miss, and which other players will play and score well in those particular game-weeks.
Who would have guessed that Ings would avoid injury and be the best vice-captain to Salah, or that Manquillo would be the best player to have second on the bench?

Bloody hell, mental if true. And crazy that it was that cheap wtf?

That’s a strong ass team. Maybe just with hindsight but still.

Help above, MBP? Lots of things I could do, with Sterling DSilva seeming near essential this week, and Bruno (tho good away form) Rashford struggling. Mane also no shots last game!

Yup - Over-management is the single thing that absolutely KILLS you in this game

It’s all about minimising transaction costs & giving hose players time & patience!

Just doesn’t feel very rock & roll to do that though

Need those little transfer dopamine hits 🙂

Really stressing here! Any advice would be welcomed. $1000 and pride on the line.

If you believed your overall team was stronger than your ML rival's, but he had sterling(c) locked in as his differential, would you take a -8 hit to bring sterling(c) in. I would still be going into the week with an 8 pt lead.

    His team:

    Ederson
    Gomez Digne Doherty
    Sterling(c) Antonio Son Bruno
    Kane Vardy Greenwood

I'm thinking of going Salah, Bruno & Jiminez > Sterling, Silva & Kane for a -4. The form of the first two has shaded off a bit and Jiminez doesn't really have a high ceiling at the best of times. The same can't be said of Kane whilst Sterling & Silva are also in fine form.

    Sound reasonable?

Not really. Wolves would lose their EL spot if Spurs win and they drop points.

Bruno still UTD's best attacking option followed by the cheapness of Greenwood.

Probably agree given away form. Hard though because he’s my easiest route to DSilva/Sterling unless I sell Mahrez or Mane

Was that FFS LIV CHE game recap article right in saying ZERO shots for Mane in that game?! That’s crazy if so

Would you sell him to Sterling for a hit this week?

How many hits will you be taking for the last week?

And how essential do you rate:
    A) Sterling
    B) DSilva (v Mahrez who I currently have and could lose for a hit..)

    1. Karan14
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 8 months ago

Sterling probably the most essential for this week imo. If he hauls it's certainly a red arrow for non owner unless the person has the perfect differentials.

Mahrez to D.Silva is something I'm looking at too for a hit but it enables Pulisic to Salah for me. If Mahrez starts there is certainly a chance of the sideways switch backfiring.

I don't have a FH, so I don't know how relevant this is, but ...

      Hits = Considering just one
Sterling = One of the heavy hitters will be (Kane, Auba or Raz)
Dilva = Maybe closer to essential than Sterling, to me, at least.

Is it worth an 8pt hit for Pieters and Kane to get rid of Doherty and Rashford?

My defense is: Tarkowski, Taylor (inj) Saiss, Doherty, lungstram.

Dilemma I have is that I am chasing down ML leader and he has Sterling and Aubameyang and will captain Sterling.

I have Sterling and my obvious captain but not going to help me catch. So thinking of going Vardy to Kane and Sterling to Salah -4 ( and captain one of them) for this team

    A Take - 4 for Salah Kane
B Keep Sterling and get Kane for Vardy and captain

    Martinez
    TAA Aurier Bardsley
    Salah KDB DSilva Bruno Martial
    Kane Wood

    Pope Maguire Nketiah Fernández

If ML is your aim A for sure. I'd rather die fighting than think afterwards about lack of efforts.

How much is the gap ??
B also a good shout. But midfielder hauls are killers.

Thanks. The gap is 39 so to be honest I don’t expect I will catch unless Sterling gets 1 point and Kane and/or Salah haul. But I am going for 5 in a row ML wins so willing to go for it - but equally conscious could end up around 10K overall so another good OR would be good for the “CV” so don’t want to blow that!

The chipped through ball for Bruno early on should have been an assist

Then hit an absolute screamer of a long range shot but just too close To Fab

Then he just... disappeared - totally marooned out on the left & found it hard to get involved

The booking was his frustration at that boiling over, ive no doubt

    Sterling Salah Foden Bruno Pulisic

B Vardy & Bruno to Kane & D Silva (means keeping double Wolves defence)
