One of the world’s best FPL managers, Tom Freeman (aka avfc82), looks at the favourable fixture runs of clubs outside the ‘big six’.

Though football in the COVID-19 era looks and feels different, home advantage is still a thing.

Yes, there has been a slight drop in home win percentage across Europe’s top leagues but the change is not large and, for most clubs outside of the elite, targeting wins at the location you know best still makes the most sense.

So, with this in mind, what I’ve tried to do in this article is identify the teams outside of the traditional ‘big six’ who have the best runs of consecutive, winnable home matches that we can tap into – the types of games managers will be earmarking for three points.

I’ll then offer my thoughts on the stand-out assets from each of the clubs discussed. You’ll notice that I’ve tried to ensure there are a few reasonable away matches thrown in too and that all of the runs I highlight start no later than Gameweek 6. At this stage, there seems little point looking too far ahead, but if it proves popular, it’s something I might revisit further down the line.

Also, because of the type of fixture runs I’ve focused on, I’ve removed games against last season’s Premier League top eight from my analysis, which is worth remembering when viewing the data.

If there were FPL points for running your bollocks off he would be gold, as it is assisting and scoring are not his forte !

    Currently debating on team structure.
    Which one do you prefer?
    1:
    Trent + four 4.5 defenders

    2:
    Trent + 2 4.5s, a 5.0 and a 4.0

Hope this makes sense and isn’t too confusing!

When Alli, Kane and Son played together for their longest stretch last season following Mourinho's signing, they scored:

      Kane - 31
      Alli - 44
      Son - 46

      That's from GW13-19.

There is definitely some truth to Alli being a decent pick. As long as he plays, he will be a decent pick under Mourinho.

I'm not sold on Adams because I'm need 90 minute players (have Soucek). If Adams is dropped, then it's possible I'm thin (also I'm benching rashford)

Mitro I am in and out of, I like Ayew because he's consistent in his minutes and similar output over the last 3 seasons.

              Altered got Soucek

On the Adams comment. I want him in, my issue is he can be benched and I need secured players, not someone who could have a few dud games and get swapped out giving me a selection headache. I want to focus on the premium rotation, not shipping low value players because they aren't playing

One last RMT before bed. Will be taking FF detox for 4 days.

    McCarthy Steer
    TAA Doherty Justin Vinagre Johnson
    Salah Auba Fernandes Son Soucek
    Mitrovic Adams Wickham

Plan is to roll a FT in GW2 no matter what.

Then in GW3 I have options of:

    Auba + Mitrovic/Adams > Werner + Ziyech/Pulisic/Alli
    Auba > KdB
    Auba + Wickham > DCL + Rashford

Basically, Auba can be cash cow to upgrade wherever I'm weak. No Werner to start the season because he's price locked (super high ownership and LIV in GW2 means he won't go up unless he does something outrageous against BHA) and I can use the first two GWs to observe his/Chelsea's performance. If he's good, I can do the Auba + Adams > Werner + Pulisic/Ziyech and I'm all aboard for the good fixtures.

Which 6.0m forwards do you like? It's the one position I'm willing to punt on.

Considering: Mitro, Adams, Nketiah, Ayew, McBurnie even Iheanacho.

Yeah such a nice price point. Some good options there.

Maybe also Rodrigo at Leeds, once he settles in?

Rodrigo indeed an option. Two good weeks to evaluate.

Adams, Mitrovic prob the pick of them, but I’m really, really tempted to start with Bamford. He’s so patchy, but I can see him doing well GW2.

Also like Antonio and Wood if you can go up to 6.5...

I think mitro and Adams are both really weak picks and inevitable transfers. It’s a nice team otherwise and obviously you’ve got plans in place.

They don't look great on paper because they are non-premium forwards whose points are quite volatile. I'm banking on at least one 6-7m forward emerging as a key option though and historically, there has always been someone that steps up.

Last season it was Pukki. The season before that it was Mitro who started out hot.

Yeah you could be right but I’d say the odds are against you and more likely they flop.

And then who are your differentials? Everyone will have Auba, Bruno and Son. Many with Salah. It just feels like your rank will rely on them. Also if by gw3 several forward like Werner, Jimenez, martial and/or Ings are firing it could leave you scrabbling.

I could of course be wrong though and good luck if you go for it!

Wickham will not go down right away. And even if he does, so what? He's permabench fodder.

    Any suggestions here lads?

    McCarthy
    TAA VVD Vinagre Justin
    Salah Auba Son Soucek
    Werner Richarlison

    (Nyland Johnson Davis Stephens)

Richarlson Auba Son will probably become Martial KDB Greenwood/Ziyach by GW4

    McCarthy Steer

    TAA, Doherty, Vinagre, Taylor, 4.0

    Salah, Auba, Son, Soucek, ASM

    Kane, Adams, Davis

What you guys think? I personally don't get the Werner love being new to the prem. Kane ended last season well and think with Doherty supplying extra bullets, could be a really good combination.

    A) or B)?

    A) Ziyech and Dier (3-5-2)
    B) Ings and Justin (3-4-3)

    McCarthy/ Nyland
    Robertson/Tierney/Walker Peters/ Johnson/Vinagre
    Salah/Aub/Son/Saint Max/Soucek
    Werner/Adams/Brewster

Thoughts on this team, is it strong enough for GW1(and perhaps GW2)? It leaves me with 2.5 ITB, which gives me the flexibility to either say upgrade Son to KDB/Bruno, or upgrade Saint Max to Ziyech etc.
