Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Double Gameweek 27?

Fantasy Premier League managers are considering Manchester City assets for the captaincy as they head into another Double Gameweek.

With the runaway league leaders facing Manchester United and Southampton in the next round, it is hard to look past İlkay Gündoğan (£6.2m), Raheem Sterling (£11.6m), Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) or even Ederson (£6.1m), Joao Cancelo (£6.2m) and Ruben Dias (£6.1m).

Meanwhile, appealing fixtures for West Ham and Spurs, against Leeds and Crystal Palace respectively, have brought Michail Antonio (£6.5m) and Harry Kane (£11.1m) into the conversation, as well as Son Heung-min (£9.5m) and Gareth Bale (£9.3m).

As ever, the Captain Sensible article is here to help with your Double Gameweek 27 captaincy decision.

As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Gündoğan leads the Double Gameweek 27 Captain Poll with just over 30.0% of total votes. The German international got his well-deserved rest against Wolves in Double Gameweek 27, playing just eight minutes off the bench and earning an assist in that time.

Meanwhile, De Bruyne occupies second place in the poll with 18.4% of votes, as the Belgian midfielder has now started in City’s last three league games and is returning to full match sharpness.

Kane (8.7%) is currently the third-best candidate in the eyes of our readers as he prepares to face a Crystal Palace side who have one clean sheet away from home all season.

The Spurs forward is followed by Mohamed Salah (£12.6m, 6.1%) while Dias (5.7%) looks the most likely Manchester City defender to receive tangible backing for a Double Gameweek 27 captaincy.

What’s the likelihood of an Everton double in GW28?

    Best option;

    A) Play Bruno in a 3.5.2

    B) DCL > Antonio in a 3.4.3 and bench Bruno.

    Cheers

I am considering option B but Everton are at home to Burnley next week so I might just bench DCL, play him for GW28 and sell for Antonio in GW29

Looking for a replacement for Barnes, but also thinking of swapping a City defender for a midfielder or replacing one of the forwards....

    My squad:
    Pope
    Dallas, Cancelo, Stones
Barnes, Rashford, Gundo, Salah, Bruno (C)
    Bamford, DCL

    Subs: Forster, Holding, Cavani, Mitchell

    I am thinking:
    A) Barnes > Mahrez + Stones > Lowton (who I will bench for Holding)
    B) Barnes > Mahrez + Cancelo > Targett (or similar price)
    C) Barnes > Lingard + Cavani > Richarlison (benching DCL or Bamford for him)
    D) Barnes > Lingard (benched) + Cavani > Antonio (benching Lingard for him)

Any thoughts on best option here?

Why not just save the FT so you can get more players for GW29?

Why not just do Bruno to Son and cover your bases

Already have Son, so would be a double up

I’m so disappointed in Kane. Was TC last GW but can see Man U game being 0-0 and Verton losing to Chelsea so could be a good move. Covers you for BGW29 too

I just made those exact same transfers a few mins ago. A bit risky tho cause bruno and DCL have decent fixtures in GW 28 so could punish us for selling, But i think its worth the risk Lingard and Kane play in GW 29 and both have good fixtures this GW.

    Afternoon all

Wondering what to do here. £2m itb and WC left. Salah is out if he blanks against Fulham.

    Martinez Pope
    Stones Cancello Dallas Coufal Targett
    Salah Gundo Bruno Soucek Raphinha
    Kane Bamford DCL

    1. DCL ➡️ Antonio
    2. Save FT
    3. Something else?

This will have gone unnoticed but could just be relevant for FPL

James McCarthy is out for Palace - no real surprise there. The relevance is that he's comfortably our best central mid imo. No Mccarthy means we likely cede central midfield completely as per Brighton and Fulham and not as per United where the battle was fairly even.

I'd expect a much more back foot Palace now. The odds on Spurs feasting rises significantly - if they have the energy that is.

I agree expect Spurs to run riot. Expecially a London derby and what happened in the previous results. Ppl that don't do Bruno to Son may regret...

Thoughts on using my 2FT on
Bruno + Wan Bissaka > Son + any defender (suggestions welcome)

Using WC on GW 30/31, lets me triple up on Spurs (Son, Kane, Lloris) and have extra blank GW players while United have a tough run

Bruno to Son in short term sounds like a good idea if you have no FH and getting players for blank 29. You could get Brighton defender ready for blank 29 as well.

Thanks. So you think Dunk over Cresswell or Targett?

Dunk has more chance of a clean sheet v Newcastle in 29 than Cresswell v Spurs. Dunk more chance of scoring, Cresswell more chance of an assist.

Targett a v good option if Villa play twice in 28 but we don’t know yet unfortunately. Have you already got Martínez?

    A) Fernandes to Bale(Have Kane,Son)
    B) DCL to Antonio(bench Fernandes)

No FH for 29, WC in 31

Depends if Everton have a double game week in 28. Think Antonio will do well v Leeds but I’d be reluctant to sell DCL if he’s playing twice the week after.

Pep is a nightmare when it comes to DGWs. It would be typical if Gundo started against Utd and was benched against Southampton. Who to captain?

    A - Gundo
    B - Kane

Same dilemma. Even if Gündoğan starts both his role and threat may be significantly reduced given KdB’s return. And Palace look there for the taking. Hard to look past a DGW player for the armband but Kane is winning atm for me. If I had Dias though I’d probably stick it on him.

I think my team is pretty much set, however I've one slight dilemma - who takes the final defender position? Aina or Lowton? Feels like a coin toss. Any thoughts most welcome!
