Three-time top 200 finisher Lateriser: My ‘mock’ Free Hit draft for Blank Gameweek 29

The reigning Fantasy Premier League champion of India, Lateriser, isn’t playing his Free Hit chip in Blank Gameweek 29 – but this is who he’d select if he was.

A lot of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will probably be using the Free Hit this week. Keeping that in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to do a mock Free Hit draft so it helps some of you with your chip as well as transfers for the future.

At the time of writing, I am assuming that Son Heung-min (£9.6m) and Patrick Bamford (£6.7m) will not be available for the weekend’s games. We should know more about these players on Wednesday afternoon when both Marcelo Bielsa and Jose Mourinho face the media, so they will obviously re-enter the thinking if passed fit.

We talk about Blank Gameweek 29, debate macro Free Hit strategy and discuss what to do with Manchester City assets amid all of the rotation in this week’s episode of The FPL Wire, which you can see below.

I hope you find this article useful!

What is FPL Upside Chasing and how can I implement it in 2020/21?

Thinking of doing Gundo + Son -> Auba + Bale for a -4, as I'm certain Son will surely not play GW29. Good moves?

Also Vardy -> Antonio to fund the moves. Have 2FTs.

Don't have a WC, but looking to do Bale to Son again one of the next few GWs, and Auba will be monitored re: his form, but for now, thinking him and Antonio might be here to stay.

    Bottomed!

Stones > Dawson or Dias > Cresswell

Stones>Dawson leaves me with money ITB so I could do Bruno out for Bale/Lingard/Auba for -4 and then bring him back in again next week

    Martinez
    Konsa Lascelles
    Raphinha Saka
    Bamford Kane Watkins

What do you think of Reguilon for Villa and Newcastle? Is he a likely starter or is it better to go for someone safe like Cresswell or Dunk?

Think Bamford mostly starts, that'd mean I'd have 7 players (including son) going into BGW with 1FT
Cancelo to Cresswell gives me 8 (including son)
Son to lingard for a hit?

With Bamford looking ok, I'm less sure on Son.

    Have 2 fts.

    Am thinking:
    DCL out for either Antonio/Watkins
Son out for Auba if Son ruled out.

    Gives me 8 players:
    Marti
    Veltman - Cresswell
    Auba - Raphina
    Kane - Bamford - Antonio/Watkins

Decent for no hits, and I keep the players Id rather not lose (Bruno - Salah - Gundo - Dias - Cancelo)

Who knows.. I suppose I could go for Bale (who I'd probably rather have in GW30 anyways)

Only thing, if Auba does get some kind of form, he could be a decent differential.

Thing with Spurs, is when they are bad, they are really bad, so not sure the Bale/Kane double up is still worth it longer term.

I'm between Bale and Auba too, but got my WC so can get rid in a couple of weeks. Leaning towards Auba at the moment given how poor Spurs looked with Son out, and the fact Bale never gets 90

Pretty stuck on what to do with this lot...

    Pope
    Canelo, Stones, Dallas
    Mount, Salah, Gundo, Lingard, Bruno
    DCL, Kane

    (Subs: Forster, Bamford, Holding, Mitchell)

Apart from wanting to get an extra body in for the collapsed GW, I am thinking ahead to next week. So far my ideas are:

    A) Holding > Cresswell/Dunk, Salah > Bale for -4 this week
    B) Cancelo > Cresswell/Dunk this week for free, Salah > KDB/Mahrez next week
    C) Holding > Konsa, Bamford > Watkins/Antonio for -4 this week

    Or other suggestions?

GW29 Player Coverage. For those without FH the following players have >5% ownership from the teams playing:

    Arsenal:
    Leno 6.7%
    Tierney 5.5%
    Aubameyang 10.5%
    Saka 9.4%
    Lacazette 5.4%

    Aston Villa:
    Martinez 42.1%
    Targett 15.1%
    Mings 9%
    Konsa 7.1%
    Grealish 17.8%
    Watkins 27.4%

    Brighton:
    Dunk 8.2%

    Fulham:
    Areola 5.3%

    Leeds:
    Meslier 6.6%
    Dallas 24%
    Strujik 5.5%
    Raphina 13.6%
    Bamford 48.8%

    Newcastle:
    Wilson 5.6%

    Spurs:
    Lloris 6.5%
    Son 52.9%
    Bale 11.6%
    Kane 42.3%

    West Ham
    Cresswell 28%
    Coufal 5.5%
    Soucek 14.1%
    Lingard 10.5%
    Antonio 13.8%

Really not too much there to be afraid of for those without FH in my opinion.

Its about the combination of these players in your team and how many of them do you have? Plus owning someone like a Sanchez this week will be more beneficial than owning someone like a Martinez. In fact a huge upside if you own Sanchez.

I looking to make gains yes, but if to protect OR it is sufficient to have the higher owned ones and captain Kane. Question is whether FH chip is better used in GW33 or later smaller DGWs - no obvious answers there.

There is no right answer to this question. Depends on your team, the transfers you are planning and how you see the next 10 GWs.

Yep useful numbers for either just trying to stay with the pack or going differential. Seems like there are a handful you need for protection (assuming fit) like martinez, watkins, dallas, bamford, son, kane, creswell and can get a bit more crazy with the rest

    Martinez
    Dallas
    Son, raphinha, anguissa
    Kane, bamford

No FH. I need -8 or -12 just to cover rivals.
I thougt of WC29/BB30 to steal a march on all these "hitters" in bad spots (like me). Can i recover 50pts in 29+30?

    1. Ruth_NZ

WC29 looks desperate to me and I don't see it easily fits BB30 either because you'll then be so out of shape from GW31.

Without seeing your team it's hard to say but if you could take, say, 3 hits that would enable a better GW29 and a good BB30 with the ability to wildcard out in GW31 that might be worth considering.

Otherwise take the pain this week and look to make the ground after you wildcard probably.

No hesitation to take hits if not making up to 11 playing this week.

Take -8 or -12 to add 3 or 4 players in, the downside is very minimal.

      Not Martinez imo

Kane and Bale are both too clinical imo. Their shots are often "heavy and accurate", which means that the risk of conceding without save pts is pretty high vs Spurs. This needs be to checked though.

Yup, I will captain Kane so makes sense to bench him, or I could play him due to ownrship and as a backup for Kane-dissappointment

Nah, Saka could be back on the weekend. Not worth a hit.

All being well does these 2 FTs sound like the best thing to do? (I have a WC which I plan to use after gw29)

Salah and Gundogan -> Aubameyang and Lingard

To get this team for gw29:
    Martinez
    Dallas Coufal ***
    Auba Son Lingard Raphinha
    Kane Antonio Bamford

    Pope; Fernandes, Stones, Cancelo

Thoughts on that plan? Or would you bring someone else/some hit?

2FTs: Stones Salah to Dunk Bale gives me the team below:

    Martinez
    Dallas/Dunk/Coufal
    Bale/Lingard/Raphinha
    Kane/Bamford

Or Auba instead of Bale? DCL to Watkins instead of Stones to Dunk?
