This week sees the UEFA Champions League (UCL) return for 2022/23, which means the competition’s official Fantasy game is also back.

We’ve collated all of our content for Matchday 1 on this page to help with dilemmas regarding your squad, captaincy and upcoming strategy ahead of the UCL deadline on Tuesday 6 September at 17:45 BST.

WHICH PLAYERS TO PICK?

MATCHDAY 1

OTHER UCL GAMES

SPITCH

There is also a preview for SPITCH’s UEFA Champions League contest, where managers choose 11 players predicted to succeed within the game’s sophisticated scoring system.

They can also choose to under or over their ₵1,200 budget – this will determine how many positive or negative points they begin the round with.

Alongside the season-long cash prize option, there are numerous ‘Classic’ games that split each Matchday into two separate games (for example, 1a on Tuesday and 1b on Wednesday).

Make sure to check out this Matchday 1 article, as well as joining Scout’s SPITCH UCL community.

FANSLIDE

There are four opportunities to play Fanslide in Matchday 1:

  • Dinamo Zagreb v Chelsea (Tuesday)
  • PSG v Juventus (Tuesday)
  • Ajax v Rangers (Wednesday)
  • Napoli v Liverpool (Wednesday)

If you’re new to Fanslide, it’s a free game to play that takes part live, in one-off fixtures. Just ‘slide’ in three players at any one time and they will score single, double and treble points between them. There are loads of ways to win or lose such points.

Yet the skill comes in judging when you think players are about to make an impact and managing their time wisely, as each one is only available for a maximum of 20 minutes per match. The first three ‘slides’ per half are free, the rest cost two points.

FPL Marc Broadcaster, writer and overthinker. Hoping that ‘differential potential’ will catch on.

think i'll cap Auba tonight if he starts, if not then i have a plan to bring Haaland in, and Lewandowski is the stand out cap this week anyway if Auba fails so no worries 🙂

    Vlach
    Ake, Otamendi, Gomez
    Vinicius Jr, Nkunku, Reus, Bergwijn
    Lewa, Auba, Leao

    Grbic, Kulu, Balde, Bassey

      Nice. This is me:

      Vlach
      Chillwell, Ake, Otamendi
      Mahrez, Jorginho, Mario, Bergwijn
      Haaland, Lewa, Kane

      Stegen, Kounde, Rensch, 4.5

i like the kane pick, i think there will be loads of goals in that Marseille game, its a pity he clashes with Lewa for the armband though

Triggered a WC. Might regret it.

Thoughts? Too much $ in defense?

    Pope - Ward
    VVD - Cancelo - Dalot - Saliba - Perisic
MacAllister - Zaha - Luis Diaz - Rashford - Andreas
    Jesus - Haaland - Kane

    Thinking a 3-4-3 / 4-3-3 going forward.

    Feedback is welcome!

I WCd last week and didn't fancy Arsenal defensively with bre, TOT, LIV, lee, MCI to come. All those teams could score against them. Spurs games aren't great either really.

I got Fofana as he's so cheap and Chelsea have a great GW9-18 once they sort themselves out.

You want VVD, Saliba, Perisic, MacAllister, Diaz, Dalot and Jesus long term? I wouldn’t have thought so which means you’re booking in a lot of transfers?

      Not keen on it personally.

    Ederson
    TAA cancelo Perisic Cucurella
    Salah martinelli groß Diaz
    Jesus haaland

    Ward neco andreas greenwood

Thinking Perisic to trippier for free but want james ideally

Cucurella needs to go u think also

Ideally I wanted to save this week and use 2 ft next gw for greenwood to mitrovic and Perisic Cucurella to james and 3.9 to enable for -4

    Thinking about a wc into this;

    Taa, cancelo, James trippier

    Mitro, Haaland, Jesus

    Worth it?

    A. Rashford (Cry a, Lee H, City a, Eve a, New H, Tot H)

    B. Trossard (Bou a, Cry H, Liv a, Tot H, Bre a, NFO H)

Adapted my plan slightly from previous posts. I would have them for GW 7-13, at least.

Fixtures across these 7 weeks are pretty tight.

Then final 4 weeks, providing all goes well, I’d move on. West Ham/Wolves look good.

If chelsea performs well tonight, there is a great chance of Cucurella to be benched at the weekend, a fit and in form Chilwell would be undroppable, with Koulibaly and Fofana starting most of the games, all of these making Cucu a less viable FPL option.

Going for a WC rammed full of fairly highly nailed starters on pens: Zaha, Mitro, Haaland, MacAllister, Toney, Salah. Throw in some more cheap mids and it still allows a TAA/Cancelo/James defence and cash for Trippier plus a decent keeper and subs.
