Scout Picks - Bus Team

Weโ€™ve put together our Scout Picks โ€˜bus teamโ€™ ahead of Double Gameweek 22 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

In this early selection, we select a first draft of our regular picks before they are finalised and published much closer to Fridayโ€™s deadline.

We are limited to an ยฃ83.0m budget for our starting XI, while our bench is also price-capped after a reader vote.

In the meantime, this โ€˜bus teamโ€™ article โ€“ a term coined by the duo behind the Always Cheating podcast โ€“ will discuss the players who are likely to be in the running.

GAMEWEEK 22 FIXTURES

THE LIKELY LADS

FPL Gameweek 22: Salah's form, Rashford's TC credentials + Leeds players

The final Scout Picks will unquestionably feature significant representation from Manchester United, following the confirmation that they will have two fixtures in Gameweek 22.

The Red Devils are in a rich vein of form, despite defeat at Arsenal last time out. Prior to Gameweek 21, they had won four of their five matches since the Premier League resumed after the World Cup.

From Gameweek 17 onwards, Marcus Rashford (ยฃ7.2m), Bruno Fernandes (ยฃ9.9m) and Luke Shaw (ยฃ5.2m) have returned 46, 39 and 36 points respectively, figures that put them among the very best FPL performers in that period.

Fernandes is a source of much discussion in the Fantasy community, with his underlying numbers the focus of a recent Members article (TLDR: they’re a mixed bag), but two bites of the cherry at Old Trafford and his undoubted assist potential puts him firmly in the mix.

These โ€˜doublersโ€™ will no doubt form the backbone of our Scout Picks, but there are other โ€˜likely ladsโ€™ who have just one fixture.

Newcastle United, Arsenal and Manchester City options are also likely to make the cut.

Having kept six clean sheets in a row, bonus magnet Kieran Trippierโ€™s (ยฃ6.1m) inclusion is a no-brainer, the only real question is whether or not we double-up on the Magpies rearguard, via Nick Pope (ยฃ5.5m), Fabian Schar (ยฃ5.1m) or Sven Botman (ยฃ4.5m).

Arsenal, meanwhile, visit an underperforming Everton side, albeit one that will likely have former Burnley manager Sean Dyche in the dugout for the first time.

The Gunners have kept seven of their nine clean sheets on the road this season, conceding just six, while the Toffees have the fourth-worst minutes per xG rate in the division since the restart. As a result, Gabriel Magalhaes (ยฃ5.2m) and Ben White (ยฃ4.7m) will be pushing for inclusion in the Scout Picks.

Further forward, Martin Odegaard (ยฃ6.9m), Eddie Nketiah (ยฃ6.7m), Bukayo Saka (ยฃ8.2m) and Gabriel Martinelli (ยฃ6.7m) all carry potential, with the current bus team favouring the former duo, who lead the way at Arsenal for goal attempts in the last five Gameweeks.

Finally, Erling Haaland (ยฃ12.2m) is all but assured of his place barring an unfortunate injury. Man City, of course, are capable of racking up the goals against pretty much anyone, so a trip to a Tottenham Hotspur side wonโ€™t hold any fear.

Saying that, itโ€™s unlikely there will be room for Kevin De Bruyne (ยฃ12.5m) or Riyad Mahrez (ยฃ7.7m), despite this fixture serving up plenty of goals in recent times.

That Cancelo news makes Lewis at 3.9 very interesting…

      Still not interested tbh.

Ake at LB and Walker at RB is still very plausible.

Both good, just for 3.9 it’s not too bad at all, especially if you aren’t/weren’t planning on getting triple City anyway

They will all get rotated. Ake missed the last game with Cancelo on the bench and it was Laporte at left back

Lads 2 ft, Salah to Bruno a must for this weekend I suppose but I also wouldn’t mind the following

    Odegaard, Mudryk & Mitoma

Who would you pick from the above 3 ?

    Team just now is

    Ederson (Ward)
    Robertson Trippier Saliba Shaw (Castagne)
    Salah Saka Rashford Almiron (Andreas)
    Kane Haaland (Greenwood)

    1 m itb & will be 3-5-2 moving forward I think

I would just keep GW25 in mind when bringing in bench fodder. Will you be able to field 11? Can you stretch Greenwood to a cheap playing forward with a game in 25 like Gnonto for example?

Trippier is near enough essential now. Newcastle needed someone to win more free kicks around the box and Gordon with his diving will significantly increase the amount of free kicks they get. Good deal for Newcastle and trippier owners

I mentioned this here before, there are several players at Man City that want to leave and are sick and tired of Guardiola. Cancelo was one of them, but noticeably also Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker. No surprise whatsoever.

I was 50-50 about bringing in Bruno this week for a -4 but convinced it would be a good idea on here. Now the article mentions that his underlying stats are a mixed bag and I am back to doubting the decision. What is everybody else thinking? Any opinions welcome.

I got in Bruno after the end of last gw. He is always going to be in the mix fulcrum point. Himself or Rashford on pens. Plus Bruno listed as a mid.
I got Bruno and Eddie in for a -8. If Bruno gets a minimum of 6 you will do OK. I figure he should/could 10 or more in the double gw. Lovely fixtures both at home. I am TC Rashford though more consistent form.

Seeing a few people put off by that article but it doesn't bother me too much that his stats still don't match up to what he hit a couple of seasons ago. I'm not going to cap him but still think he's more than capable of a 15-20pt-er

As a punt at the double, I don't think there is a better option (assuming most already own Rashford).

I don't think I really want him longer term, which is why getting him for KDB and going back for the City double is probably my most likely move. I might also go for a cheaper punt and not lose KDB and would be much more likely to do that if I could get say Antony, Casemiro for 1 week for free

If Rashford gets 1 goal in each game and full bonus. He gets 20 points. I'd snap your hand off for 20 points from my TC.

Haaland could hat trick in one game against Villa and blank against Arsenal and not score as many points.

Not saying Rashford is the better TC choice, but just something to consider.

    My WC team for now
    Kepa - Ward
    Ake - Shaw - Trippier - Botman - Estupinan
Rashford - Bruno (switch to Mahrez with 1FT for the city double) - Odegaard - Saka - Mitoma
    Kane - Haaland - Nketiah

G2G goind forward? What would you change? My concern is the GW 25 and 28 blanks. Maybe switch Botman and Estupinan to players that will have a game in the blanks, and if so then who? Have 1.4 itb.

You're gonna have a weekly benching headache there with that front 8. As long as you have a plan of who you'd bench each GW then it looks great.

Yeah, just so happens that the front 8 is so affordable, Mitoma being 5 mil is basically a bench fodder price, but hes so good, downgrade him to a 4.5, what will i do with that 0.5? ๐Ÿ™‚ Such nice bench is also great for BB in the near future.

after the man utd double would you still keep both rashford and ferdy?

i feel like downgrading ferdy to help with the bench headache (like me) but still would prefer to have him

Benching Kane on the cusp of the Spurs scoring record in front of his own fans in a big game feels risky but can't really make a case for dropping any of them.

Dont know if playing Rodrigo and benching Kane is good or bad idea ๐Ÿ™‚ I know Rodrigo has a double but the second game is ManU, good luck tho ๐Ÿ™‚

    Kepa (Ward)
    Trips White Shaw (Bueno, Patterson)
    KDB Rash Almiron Martinelli (Andreas)
    Haaland Kane Toney
    2FT

    Help needed. Considering:
    A) Kane, Almiron -> Nketiah, Bruno
    B) Toney, Almiron -> Gnonto, Bruno
    C) Andreas, Almiron -> Odegaard, Rodrigo, bench Kane this week

Don’t want to lose Kdb only to want him next week. Planning to bring a City defender for the DGW. Cheers!
