A bit later than usual this week, our in-house team of Sam, Marc, Tom and Neale each put forward the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) names they think should make Friday’s final Scout Picks.

Our panelists submit 18-man player longlists with the focus just on the upcoming Gameweek – and with various stipulations, as detailed in the next section.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

Our four resident writers are solely focused on the upcoming Gameweek with their selections. Anything outside of this window, we cover in the newly updated Watchlist.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, cheaper alternatives have to be found.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

SCOUT SQUAD’S PICK OF THE BEST FPL PLAYERS FOR GAMEWEEK 27

    Talk to me .
Ode to mac Allister doesn't make sense if it leaves me with only 10 next week .Right.?

Right - think of it this way. They both have 2 games - Ode (ful, CPL) and Macallister (lee, CPL).
Ode could easily outscore Mac over the 2 games and that is without the conundrum of only having 10 next week.

      1. The Mentaculus

Surely you wouldn't sell Mac before 29 though? So the cutoff point is not 28

Mac also has two games in GW29 vs 1 for Ode. So overall 4 games vs 3. I'd do it.

Wrong. You gain a fixture overall with the move, so if you think Mac outscores Ode across 27-9 it makes no difference whether you have one fewer fixture in 28.

If Ode is a doubt I'm doing him to Mitoma for two brilliant DGWS

I'm tempted to do it, but would mean benching one of Holland, Kane or Saka GW27.

Who scores more over the next 2 GWs:
A: Ward-Prowse and his 3 games (mun, BRE, TOT)
    B: a Brighton mid's 2 games (lee, CPL)

Maybe it is me, but I see JWP scoring more...

    1. Hy liverpool

If only next two then A but if long term then B.

      1. Triple Free Bench Hit Boost

The reason is that with JWP I have 11 for GW 28 without any transfers. Then I would have 2 FT for 29 when could do JWP for a Brighton mid (or anyone doubling)

        1. Triple Free Bench Hit Boost
          • 3 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

And by the same reasoning, would you think there is any other doubler in 27 (playing in 28) who is better than JWP? I can't see a Palace doubler doing better with MCI and bre.

Is anyone else selling Haaland this week?

It's the final part of my wildcard that I'm having huge reservations over.

I can afford either Kane or Haaland, going with Kane means I don't spend a -4 next week but in theory that would be on average a -2, and I then save a transfer of moving Kane back to Haaland in gw29 as I don't want to be without him for too long.

Going with Haaland is purely just worrying he gets more than 10 points this weekend, but uses up a -4 and a transfer in the next 3 weeks.

Yes, I am going without him.... and bricking it. But I just can't seem to fit Haaland, Kane and Salah in a decent WC team that is set for GW27 and GW29 doublers and the GW28 blank.

I'd go Kane over Haaland until GW30, he's got nicer fixtures & an extra game. I'll probably sell Haaland next week for GW28 & 29.

    7. The Mentaculus

Yes. Haaland - Toney for 27-9 for me

  6. Zenith UK
    • 9 Years
    2 years, 9 months ago

    The plan;

    Kepa
    Henry², Badiashile, Burn
    Salah, Rashford, Odegaard, Mitoma²
    Toney²(c), Kane, Haaland

-4 for the above (Nketiah & Trent out, Toney & Henry in)

    GW28 (-4 = Andreas & Haaland);
    Kepa
    Henry, Badiashile, Burn, White, Kilman
    Odegaard, SAKA/MADDISON (votes below please?)
    Toney, Kane (c), WATKINS

    Ward, Salah, Rashford, Mitoma

    GW29 (1FT = White) & BB;
    Kepa², Ward²
    TRIPPIER², Burn², Henry², Badiashile², Kilman
    Salah²(c), Rashford², Mitoma², SAKA/MADDISON², Odegaard
    Toney², Watkins², Kane

    Questions;
GW28; Saka or Maddison. If Maddison = 12 DGWers in 29. If Saka only 11 DGWers.

Anything you'd do differently? G2G/RMT? Only have FH left after this BB.

    1. Triple Free Bench Hit Boost
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

While it seems to sort out the Salah + Haaland + Kane conundrum I mentioned previously, I really don't like the Badiashile and Kilman picks (and especially for the BB week). Is Badiashile nailed? Is Kilman really gonna make any difference with his single away game to Forest (who seem decent at home).

This is why i decided to forego Haaland for the sake of Chilwell and Cash. It could go either way though.

      1. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 9 months ago

Yeah my issue was I had to pull trigger on WC soon after the World Cup annoyingly. I have had Badiashile since his first fixture for Chelsea. Worth noting they've kept (off top of my head) four or five clean sheets out of six games that he has started in. Agreed his minutes do now seem a doubt though.

Appreciate the feedback. Kilman was fodder from a few weeks ago who still returning points.

That looks decent enough for a non wildcard team as you're basically just filling in around what you currently have.

In terms of this approach for someone playing a wildcard (like me with my question above), I think you are missing the one or two extra players in all honesty *compared to a potential WC 15* that shares the money around a little bit more.

      1. Zenith UK

Reece James is ill and out for Leicester. Raheem Sterling is doubtful with 'tightness' and Aubameyang is likely out with a back issue, Potter confirms. Kante possibly back for Everton. #CFC

Would you do any of these? 2FTs

    A) Shaw, Kepa > Estupinan, Raya

    C) Saka, Nketiah > Ødegaard, Toney

    Captain choice?

I'm on Mitoma (assuming not weather related disruption known pre-deadline) but wondering about Toney. If it wasn't two away games i'd be more tempted...

    1. Silecro
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I'm also on Mitoma, partially due to never captaining Brighton asset and he seems more exciting, along with extra goal and cs point and better fixtures accross this DGW. If weather permits going on with the game, i'll probably stay on Mitoma.
Everton and SOU away could really frustrate Brentford, while I think Brighton has overall better attack (although more players to spread the points, also)

Pickford, Bueno > Raya, Henry (-4)? Would mean benching Botman but Henry would give me an additional fixture now and in gw28. Team would then be:

    Raya
    Trippier Gabriel Henry
    Salah Rashford Saka Mitoma
    Haaland Toney Ferguson

    Ward; Odegaard, Botman, Tarkowski.

I think it pays off. Bueno has had his time and Pickford is, well.....Everton. Benching Botman isn't a tough call, he won't get more than six most likely

Got 2FT but if I do Mitrovic to Toney I will need to sell Akanji to a £4.3 or less defender.

Or I can get MBuemo, cap Mitoma and roll one over so I have 2 plus plenty of cash for BGW28.

Makes more sense to get MBuemo, doesn’t it?

My philosophy is that its nice to take a punt on a double, but it should not impact longer term plans. If Mitro to Toney leaves you short then don't do it. However, Mings isn't a terrible £4.3m defender - plays in 28, reasonable double in 29 and probably more chance of a CS than City!

Yes, I’m happy to get rid of Mitrovic and Akanji though.

£4.3m defenders are all pants though. I’d probably be better served getting someone like Chilwell.

Dunno what your other defenders are, but do you want another first choice defender? Chilwell potentially ties up funds if you've suddenly got a decent back four and only want to play 3.

    3. Wobbles

      Fofana 4.3.
Difficult to say if he's nailed or not but has a game in 28 and doubles in 29. Looks like he might get a run in the starting 11.

I was considering that last night.

Other defenders are Gabriel, Trippier, Mings and Tarkowski so Fofana could work out ok and, hopefully, has a game in GW28.

Assuming Estupinan is still the go-to defender? Getting him means I can only field 9 in GW28. Mee, Henry or Pinnock would give me 10 next week…..realistically though, do we expect Brentford to keep many / any clean sheets given 4 of their next 5 are away? Would appreciate any advice

Depends on your 2nd GK. Getting Raya sets you till season end. Getting Steele would still keep that spot doubtful as Sanchez might return anytime.

Have you watched them since switching to 343? I think its time to at least think about letting go of that stubbornness about Chelsea

Watched their champs league game v Dortmund, they weren't great, crappy sterling goal and lucky to get the retake. So many better options

They still have some issues sure, but I was really impressed by Chilwell's deliveries. I could be wrong of course but I think the WBs are going to start hauling now

I love Chilwell as a player but he has noone good to deliver it to

I better hope for some Chilwell-assisted OGs then 😀

But water isn't wet. To be wet means to be covered or saturated in water or another liquid, water cannot saturate itself, because when you try to cover or saturate water in water, it just makes more water.

How is your team looking for blank 28? And are you planning to make any moves on that gw or save for 29?

I can get 10 without new injuries and planning to most likely hold unless I get brave or crazy and transfer Haaland out for couple of weeks.

    Ward
    Trippier Botman Zinc Pinnock
    Maddison Saka Ode
    Toney Kane
    *Haaland *March *Estu 'Rash

I would hold with that team, mine will be 10

      Raya
      Trippier Gabriel Mings Tark
      Saka Odegaard
      Kane Toney Watkins

        Yep.

Haaland to Watkins for 28+29(BB) does not seem bad though. Watkins (BOU, che, lei) against Haaland's (LIV) looks tempting short term even if you add -4 for transfers. Problem is that Haaland could explode with hatty anyday against anyone and everybody wants him back for GW30 Soton.

        Let's see, let's see.

    Bench 1

    A. Martinelli (fulham)
    B. Kane (N Forest)
    C. Saka (fulham)
    D. Haaland (c palace)

    Leaning towards A.

Wildcarding next week doesn't really make much sense does it? Surely if you plan on wildcarding at all you should get in some brighton and brentford guys this week.

For those of us that wildcarded last week and need to replace Sanchez:

    Raya, or Steele?

Raya seems safer, but after I BB in 29, I'll probably regret having those extra funds tied up in a 2nd keeper (along with Kepa).
Steele seems riskier, but if he wins that job outright, he'll be even better value than Ward.

What's the plan next week? Salah blanks and Saka doesn't.
