Is there any point keeping Chilwell over someone like Udogie for example when you have Gusto cover? Chelsea defense is atrocious.

I wouldn't want two Chelsea defenders and Udogie looks good.

I won't start Udogie vs Ars or Liv. I won't waste a transfer on as attacking asset as Chilly historically is unless he gets benched or doesn't make 60 mins. Would certainly keep him on WC. Gusto wasn't attacking enough imo, but I didn't see whole game. Colwill will put some crosses in during this season. Chilly will get most points per match.

I’m starting to wonder about it myself. Clean sheets are as rare as hens teeth this season. Thinking I might just load the defence with 4.5 and pump the midfield and attack.

Chilwell is gold. Big attacking threat, playing LW and leaving the field at around the 60th minute.

Those early subs are worrying too. Poch wrapping him in cotton wool I suppose given what happened to James.

Please sell him in that case. I will tell you "told you so" when he nicks a goal + assist and gets CS points.

Chilwell a bit disappointing so far, but can still return in any game

Basically about one goal (+baps from it) behind Udogie now. Too small sample size to predict too much from that.

Despite the frenzy, i have genuinely been underwhelmed by Chilwell so far (except for that amazing first half v Liverpool). He stays for sure, but mainly because i cant spend my cash. He will haul soon i think!

    2 FTs. Best move(s)?

    A. Odegaard & Saliba > Son & Udogie
    B. Odegaard > Maddison

    Ederson
    Chilwell, Saliba, Estu
    Salah, Odegaard, Foden, Mitoma, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Wissa

    (Areola, Semenyo, Gusto, Henry)

At this point though do the upcoming Liverpool and Arsenal fixtures not give some pause to bring him in?

Especially those that already have Maddison?

VvD injured and Liverpool has been leaky even with him. That high line and Son being fast and good in counter attacks doesn't make me worry that fixture at all. Arsenal is more difficult on paper. They won't concede 3 goals.

The question is not whether Salad is a good player or not.

The question is whether Salad is a 12.5M player in 2024.

At 12.5M, you need to think that he will score at-least 25 goals and he's a permanent captain.

        Leno to Turner
        Estupinan to 4.0

Undecided on Saka/Bruno, hoping tomorrow will help me decide, kept Saka for now given he’s risen and Bruno may even drop soon

No Gabriel looks like he will get his place back, Partey now out for 3 months. Mitoma is ticking along but plenty of options.
And you could give your Chelsea players the Bournemouth match then reassess - maybe even save the transfer this week, doing a -4 in gw6.

Yep, 24 hours ago, people would laugh if you suggested Son! To be fair he was playing wider than the subs in the first 3 weeks. It is not his goals in my view, ,but his new position that makes him a good option. Like we need another good midfield option (i have about 13 on my watchlist!)

The Richarlison benching is a game changer for Son! Sadly, like you, i will also watch his points with regret. Good luck bro x

Yesterday people would have said Maddison
Now people I suspect would say Son 🙂
Would say Son potentially more likely to get a multi-goal haul whereas Maddison perhaps more likely to be consistent e.g. assists from the set pieces
Bear in mind the last time Son did score a hattrick, he didn't score again for some time! https://i.imgur.com/RSVSArJ.png

Maddison for his consistency and involvement, against smarter teams Son won't be getting that high line.
But by gw9 I plan to have both.

I would say Maddison because he is a real hot streak player, then gets a few injuries and is out. Son either gets a serious injury or none at all.
I have Maddison myself since gw2. Plan to get Son around gw8/9. But I am aware by then Son could be 9.4/9.5m.

    A) Sterling & Estupinan + 0.7ITB
    B) Son & 4.0 def

      *4.0 defender wouldn’t be starting.

And in A Estupinan will rotate with Cash or Udogie

Brighton's fixtures turn good again gw10. Is there a way you could get Estupinan then as well as one of your other options. I think that would be the way to go.
Alterntively you could go for the cheeky Spurs midfield option of Sarr or Soloman. Sarr is basically playing as a box to box midfielder getting very advanced as a result.

Thanks, what about Son & Maddison double up vs Son & Sterling?

Latter would enable me to keep Estupinan

I like the Spurs attacking double up, it is what I am heading towards. I nearly got Sarr instead a couple of gameweeks ago which would have blocked me from the Maddison/Son plan. But just in case Son might look decent in the future I went Nakamba instead. Glad I did.
Spurs are going to get lots of goals, the Spurs team seems to have real togetherness - Ange has to take credit for that.

As Spurs were rock bottom when Conte left, with lots of deadwood- a one man team, no confidence.
It is not an easy thing to do as Chelsea have shown, throwing money at it on it's own is not the answer. But now Spurs probably have the best 'team' along with Villa and Brighton that punch above their weight.

I’ve had Son from the start and absolutely looking it get Maddison for the double up. Sterling is inconsistent and annoying to own.

Need help finding a replacement for Pickford.

    A) Sanchez
    B) Leno
    C) Another 4.5 keeper

Ordinarily, a Chelsea keeper for 4.5 would be a no-brainer, but they aren’t looking very good and not sure if that’s going to change anytime soon (plus already have Chilwell and Sterling). On the other hand, Leno has slightly better fixtures and gets more save points (only problem is that it’s Fulham). Others are arguably no better.

Thoughts on the best choice here? Any help or feedback appreciated!

Yeah Salah dropping , Onana dropping , Pedro dropping.

        Alvarez, Udogie, Romero, Leno, Son

Too much of a swing and missed opportunity if we don’t wildcard now IMO

I would check your current XI with your likely FT made against your ideal WC team's starting XI and see how many players are actually different and how better it is, don't just WC to make £0.5m profit in a season that it won't matter too much.

Because I know the route I want to take plus stops any messing overthinking it. Mine was simple - Beyer out Udogie in givng me a stronger squad. Also rotates with Henry, also gets the price rise.

If there are any red flags after the international break - then a -4 becomes a -2. But I am not doing a -4 unless there are injuries.

One thing I will have to watch for is yellow cards, Jackson and Nakamka love getting booked - so there could be suspensions fairly quickly.

I did 2FTs already. It’s because I couldn’t stand having Pickford in my team any longer and got Alvarez in for Mubama who is a dud.

Have a decent enough bench so not concerned about int break injuries. Would be very unlucky if I had 3 good players injured over the break.

Can't say i'm a big fan of the FPL pricing this season, it's the softest it has ever been. Cheap access to all the top teams' defenses, cheap access to quality attacking mids everywhere.
Unless you're hell bent on getting Haaland, Salah, TAA, Son and Rashford in there right now you're pretty much able to pick whichever players you wish... and yet we'll still have a load of people forcing their transfers in 2 weeks before the next GW to grab dem price swings !

    1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
      • 16 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

I honestly think the pricing this year has been the best in the history of FPL, there is so much variety and different strategies you can take compared to previous years. There is much more viable options 4-5-1 -3-4-3 3-5-2 etc than previous years. Which is fantastic.
People can either go for the thin bench with money in the bank, or a strong 15 with a clever rotation system, maximising points and minimising risk.

Agree. I have 5.2m in the bank! This introduces different strategies so ok on some levels, but cash is no longer an issue, which is a shame for the game.

        • 16 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

But having Cash as no issue means you don't have to be a slave to the price drops and rises as much as previous seasons.
Personally with the team I want, I still have to be aware of the price drops and falls, but I have about 1m leeway for the moves between now and gw9 at the moment. Will likely be .4/.5 by then.

I think the other way to an extent. It creates quite a bit more variety imo. My main ML has more variance across peoples teams than for years. So many good kids to choose from and now some good differential forwards too.

Completey disagree. Love the pricing this year. Its created so much variety & made it fun. If certain players were too expensive people would mainly avoid them & a template would form with best cheaper players.

This week so many people couldn't decide between foden, maddi & sterling. If they were priced at 10, 9 & 8 then people would just go for cheapest

Always found it weird how 'most valuable teams' is the only team ranking visible on the fantasy.premierleague.com homepage

It's an irrelevant ranking and the the teams there are always people that just take lots of hits for price changes just to try and get their name there - right now you have TEAM VALUE 1 and TEAM VALUE 2 that are obviously the same person (who probably has about 20 others): https://i.imgur.com/sHFrurC.png

Why isn't the actual overall top players shown on the front page instead!
