I think Rashford has been my worst own this season. At least Jackson and Chilwell were cheaper.

Chilwell was my worse own, without him, I would have played Gusto, 14 points swing

sorry I take back my words, without him, I would have chosen Botman instead of Trippier

Pickford is mine. Not had more than 2pts from my keeper all season

I have Pickford too but if I didn't I would've had Onana who hasn't been great either whereas I could've had Son instead of Rashford. Haven't looked at the numbers but I assume Son over Rashford is a bigger swing than another goalkeeper over Pickford.

I had Gabriel and then Henry who scored like 2 point for me in 2 games, similar with Mbeumo and Sterling lol

It’s a common misconception that the Nordic berserkers consumed fly agaric when preparing for battle, to attain the trance-like state of rage and fury they became famous - legendary, even - for, later gaining them their own entry in dictionaries of English language.

It appears more likely that they reached such altered state of mind by powers of self-suggestion, or alternatively, by consuming beer laced with marsh tea.

Thoughts on this Son/Salah/Haaland/Trippier WC? Money a bit tight but looks decent?

Would play Lascelles for the Suspended Gordon this week.

    Areola (Turner)

Trippier Gabriel Cash (Lascelles Taylor
)
    Salah Son Maddison Diaby Gordon
    Haaland Alvarez (Mubama)

In current climate, a defender can not cover - points wise - a forward.

      That said, it's a solid 451.

Villa take a lot of risks at the back and leakier without Mings. I'd double up on their attack but not defence.

At end of the season, the strikers will have much more points ahead of defenders.

I've got Leno in goal so equally reluctant to go with Archer. Don't really wanna start Estupinan against Liverpool though but have Botman and Gordon unavailable. Took a hit last week and would like to avoid another hit if I can.

Tough one. Would definitely prefer Son, but there are better options to pick a 6.2 mid by going with Maddison, than a 4.8 mid with Son

What are folks biggest transfer gain and loss so far this season?

    Biggest gain: 30 points
    Trippier 30 points (GW6-7) - Chilwell 0 points (GW6-7)

    Jackson 9 points (GW3-5) + Alvarez 9 points (GW6-7) - Watkins 44 points (GW3-7)

That front and mid is excellent. The back line is a problem for GW8, but Botman should be back around GW9 or GW10, Estupinan's fixtures will improve...this feels like an easy keep. Maybe do a -4 with Estupinan for defensive coverage.

I don't think I would sell Saka for a -4. Roll or get rid of Mbeumo or Botman.

I think Saka to Son is probably the move here when you factor in captaincy this GW. Also depends if have the WC still to play

Hoping that Rashford (BRE, shu) can beat Saka (MCI, che) but I'm not confident at all.

I'm not confident either which is why I kept Saka and sold Rashford as I had the United double up with Bruno. I still have 1FT and could do Saka/Bruno to Maddison.

Made the move before Son's price rise as I'm low on funds. Will get Saka back on GW10 WC.

Without WC I would just hold Saka. He can still get something in the next two and the fixtures are excellent after that.

The average seems surprisingly high to me this week considering Haaland, Salah, Rashford, Fernandes, Mbeumo, Mitoma, Estupinan, etc. all blanked. Thought my 45 was okay but another red arrow.

Seeing so many wildcard drafts going without Alvarez which I really don't understand..His minutes seem secure for now..at his price(half of Haaland) even slightly trickier fixtures should not matter that much.

People tearing up their teams for a player who had 1 league goal in 500 minutes before the weekend. A hat-trick from an xG of 0.8 is unprecedented and lack of pens hurts his appeal.

Good fixtures though and he's always been a purple patch merchant, so a good time to jump on - just wouldn't be wildcarding / taking hits to fit him in over a City striker who's only really blanked once.

I was just about to ask on here if anybody has considered the unthinkable, which is sell Haaland? I'm sure there have been discussion's but I haven't been on since Friday. My thinking isn't based off just one blank... but more his fixture run which coincides with Salah having an amazing fixture run. I think I would only captain Haaland twice in the next 7 games which doesn't seem worth it.

After a stinker of a GW, I have pulled the WC trigger..

            Areola - Turner
            Udogie - Gabriel - Burn - Cash - Kabore
            Madders - Salah - Son - Diaby - Gordon
            Haaland - Watkins - Archer

Pretty much template with 1.4 in the bank.

I'd plan to bring Botman back into the fold when fit and have room to downgrade the likes of Watkins/Son/Salah if I must.

Just seen Ref Watch on Youtube and Dermot is being his usual self and showing the ref ego where he can but in most points discussed he doesn't have a leg to stand on so has no option but to admit fault and tbf to him did say its left him stunned as there is a second and third person in the VAR booth to make sure that such ludicrous mistakes like not even knowing if your checking for offside on a goal given or a disallowed goal, but yet they all failed.

I think they need to release the Audio and we need to see exactly what was said by each person.

Also, Dermot said that The VAR didn't even tell the Ref that he made such a mistake till half time, which is quite insane.

Then finally Warnock in studio suggested that the ref shd have been immediately informed of the mistake and that he shd go to the side call the managers and captains and suggest they do a drop ball and allow Liverpool to score a goal as a legit goal was wrongfully chalked off, which I dont think would be a bad way to have resolved this situation. What do you guys think of such a suggestion ?

For me personally I would keep goal line tech and I would want some form of automated 3D offside like they had at the world cup and the rest could be scrapped and go back to the old way. As long as those two systems are foolproof.

Yeah I think it would have been a fair outcome as well but agreed it would have made it way more chaotic and as said below its outside the rules of the game as they stand. But then again 1 goal and 1 point can end up being a very significant thing come the end of the season.

People are going too far by demanding audio files when a mistake like this can be put down to simple incompetence. The language they're made to use (saying "check complete" instead of "goal stands/goal disallowed") doesn't help either.

In my opinion, VAR were right to not tell Hooper about the mistake as it would have caused him to panic and potentially cloud his judgement. Discussing it at half-time in a calmer environment is a much better plan. According to the rules of the game, the referee would have violated the rules of the game if they had changed the decision after whistling (which is farcical in itself), so there would have been literally no reason to tell him.

Warnock's idea is daft and sets a stupid precedent. Every team has been affected by poor refereeing decisions - it's ridiculous to expect teams to rectify mistakes by "letting" the opposition score.

I dont think people are going too far to demand the audio be released, I think that shd be made available real time for every VAR intervention, for clear transparency of what they are discussing and what they are watching and how they come to the decision and post match, the ref watch ex refs can explain any rules that might be needed for clarification. Its done in other leagues and other sports so why not in the Prem.

Agreed on the language point, it should be as clear as possible what they are looking at, not leave no doubt adding the extra two words of "check complete hes onside goal stands" hardly takes another second or two.

You may be right on this point that it may have caused him to panic or second guess himself and lead to more bad decisions or cloud his judgment, and agreed the IFAB rules they've mentioned post the situation that once the game is restarted they cant change the decision is extremely stupid, when the VAR saw the free kick he obviously instantly knew he screwed up and could have told the ref within secs of the offside freekick, so that certainly needs to be reevaluated.

The priority of the rules should be to get the correct decisions rather than handcuff the officials, even if its takes an extra 30 secs or the game gets stopped again for a few secs to rectify a glaring black and white mistake.

Yeah that's fair - I just don't think it will really solve anything, and it's more likely to stoke the fire if anything. People like to get carried away with silly theories, so imagine the sh*t-storm if people start accusing them of editing the audio or missing bits out.

The rest is just typical bureaucracy where they're more concerned about covering their backsides than applying any common sense. We all know there was plenty of time to correct the error before play restarted and Gallagher hiding behind the fact that they literally couldn't change the decision without being punished is pathetic.

I believe that they're just panicking trying to get decisions made as quickly as possible - there needs to be a balance.

As for Warnocks idea maybe it is daft in terms of the ends not justifying the means, and would set a 'stupid' precedent in as far as the refs disregarding the letter of the law even if it is to correct a mistake they have collectively made.

Teams have been affected by poor refereeing but I'm only talking about offside or goal line here where we were lead to believe that these are black and white decisions, where there is no room for subjectivity, its either on or off, its either crossed the line or it hasn't.

No one would expect subjective decisions where these refs show no consistency week to week to be rectified by this kind of solution, I do take your point here that it would set a precedent that could end up causing absolute chaos.

Anyway I dont see this situation going away as quickly with other mistakes, as before, I think there will have to be some form of stop gap solution for the season and a change of the rules going forward with the implementation of VAR

I think we've hit a point now where the league needs to implement the automatic offside technology from the Champions League and World Cup (like you mentioned in another comment). This is a huge irreparable error and another embarrassment that PGMOL have had to apologise for - we've already seen them drawing lines on the wrong players, etc, so how can they be trusted going forward?

Totally agreed, eliminate human error where possible, why do we need a convoluted system of drawing lines and all this when the automated tech is available and being used in the game.

The subjectivity of other decisions will remain and not much can be done about that and VAR cant actually be perfect so we also shouldn't expect that in these more subjective decisions, we can just hope for more consistency across the board is all.

                    Anyway appreciate the chat mate.

Totally agree - imagine where we'd be without Goal Line Technology!

No worries at all, nice talking about a controversial subject without a load of name-calling attached to it!

I think it would have been a sporting gesture ...

but what about other mistakes that weren't rectified at the time?

Thinking reasonable plan is you can leave Saka aside on a WC but have funds/moves to do Maddison to Saka/Ode GW10?
If you have both Son and Maddison, reckon one is enough from GW10.

Might just be me, but I have no intention of letting go of Son or Maddison for the foreseeable future. That's why Salah would only ever be a short-term pick for me as I'm only willing to sacrifice Saka short-term due to fixtures & fitness

Surely Saka Son Salah over Madd?

I guess its tough to make a case for Maddison over Saka in the long-term. But I don't think a 200pt season is unrealistic for Maddison in this Spurs side if he can stay fit, so Maddi + 5m v Salah (again, in terms of value long-term) isn't actually much of a contest in my eyes

On a long-planned wildcard, and it feels not a moment too soon after a disaster gameweek.

            WC, 25.1 ITB
            Johnstone // Aréola
            Cash Udogie ____ // ____ Kaboré
            Salah Son ____ Diaby Eze
            Haaland ____ // Archer

            A: Schär, Estupiñán, Fernandes, Solanke
            B: Schär, Botman/Burn, Bowen, Watkins
            C: Andersen, Botman/Burn, Maddison, Watkins

I'm not 100% set on Eze, but the price jump from him to the next midfielder I want (Bowen) is big enough and I don't mind him as a pick.

C feels right (possibly B). Plenty of room to move down if necessary later, and Andersen feels like a steal at the moment. I've had Schar for awhile, but at this price point (and Botman's), Burn feels better. Do you like Maddison or Bowen better over the next few? Whichever you prefer, build around that one.
