From GW10 onwards pick 2 from:
    1 - Saka
    2 - Son
    3 - Maddison

Whilst I think Maddison is a great choice it’s difficult to pick him ahead of the other two.

Assuming I get Saka from above is the Udogie & Pedro Porro double up a good idea? I already have Udogie but seems that Pedro Porro is a much better attacking option?

      Son's - minutes a concern
Maddison - can be assist of the assist, good asset though
Saka - if fit probably the one to go for

One of Udogie or Porro personally, probably Porro

Basically Saka+1, so it would be Son for me.

Saka is the easy pick. Maddison hes been steady and getting points, Son has bigger upside but is also probably bigger blank risk.

Question should be is Son a better buy than Maddison and £1.4 Million in the bank?
I reckon the extra cash makes Maddison the beter pick overall.

Thanks all. On reflection I probably should have removed Saka from the list and just said one from Maddison and son!

I think Porro is definitely a better pick than Udogie but I already have udogie and I’m not sure whether the difference warrants using a transfer.

I have Udogie and not 'wasting' a transfer on a change to Porro. next week Udogie could score/assist and the conversation changes yet again.

Based on what I’ve seen porro looks more attacking so I’d expect him to get more points in the long term. I doubt I’ll do anything this game week then re-assess next week with 2FTs

Is anyone going to consider having KDB once he is back? Pep did mention "hopefully sooner than we expect he will come back."

I am already starting to figure out how I can fit him into my current setup without removing players I want to keep.

He is still owned by 1.7%, all probably dead teams.

Nah, no interest. Might need to get rid of Alvarez though and probably no-Haaland wont be an option anymore, still long way to go.

There is no way to fit him in with players I want to keep. I want to keep my midfield that already has Salah, Son, Maddison and Bowen. I also really want to keep Haaland, Alvarez and Trippier AND get both Saka and Watkins in.

Things change, those players might not be in form come the later game weeks. And Alvarez is at risk once KDB is back

Therefore far too early to tell how KdB is going to perform. He is coming from long injury and he is no longer kid either. His minutes will probably managed and his form is unknown atm. So far too early to make any decisions about him.

Would not want to be getting KDB in straight away because who knows which player will be the bait once he returns. I am avoiding their defence as it is. By that time I could decide to run to Haaland again.

Right now we have it quite easy knowing which attack starts. Can't wait for Pep roulette again 🙂

I'd love to, but I have a lot of questions over A) how long it'll take for him to get fully fit, and B) how Pep integrates him and Alvarez into thr starting XI. I can't see him dropping the latter when KDB is back given how good he's been, but he is doing well in KDB's absence, and I've honestly never been too impressed by him when on the pitch with KDB as part of a front two or shifted out wide. I think one of them is going to lose out but the question is who

With his injury record, he'll be rotated more than in previous seasons you'd expect. So not worth the premium.

Hi all. Try not to post these but quite unsure on how to proceed this week (much like last week).

    2FT 0.1itb
    Turner
    Digne Andersen Udogie
    Saka Diaby Salah Son Maddison
    Haaland Alvarez
    (Leno Colwill Kabore Osula)

I think part of my issue is I can't currently see anything to do this week. I was eyeing up bringing in Nunez in GW10, might move on Son as I expect the Palace and Chelsea games won't suit him much, although the Wolves and Villa fixtures after are good so keeping may be sensible, and him rising to 9.5m adds more incentive to hold in case selling ends up being a mistake. That groin issue is a worry though. But I want him for Fulham this week. If I was to do the move I'd probably go for Palmer at the moment, handy 8th attacker but would possibly play GW10+11. Could go with Bowen or Mitoma too if I decided to ignore Nunez.

Unsure if I ought to be targeting the likes of Trippier or not either. He's clearly playing well and the fixtures look decent, but getting him means foregoing another better attacker and I don't think I'm keen on that. I've been doing OK so far without him despite his big scores. My team is a bit inflexible right now but I've been doing well and have been and am seeing lots of people trying to bring in a few players I have so I'm not seeing much reason to change much right now. Never really been in a spot where I could end up burning an FT before (I'm not counting moving Kabore or Osula to other budget options as really using an FT).

    1. FOO FIGHTER

The problem with Trippier is that he is already becoming too expensive to own if you don't already have him.

I can understand that but honestly if a player has gone up by 0.4m and continues to do well I don't think that matters, I've been very stubborn in the past about stuff like that (Jota a couple of seasons ago is one that always sticks in my head) and think "it's too late to hop on" and the player just keeps going week after week. I guess it's just that I'm not that convinced on him but I'm wondering if I ought to be targeting a more premium defender

Out of curiosity what do you think of captaining Maddison this week mate? I think I'm likely to go with Haaland but I'm considering Maddison, but I know you know more about Fulham than me! Bit worried about Bissouma being out too although Sarr has impressed so I think they'll be OK

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years

My reluctance to captain anyone against Fulham stems partly from when I was looking at some stats on Palhinha's impact on their defence - particularly that they have only conceded 2+ with him twice (to Leicester & West Ham, both crazy open games; think the LEI game they won 5-3) in something like 40 matches now. They usually look really solid & compact in these type of games (away at top attacking sides) with Palhinha breaking up everything through the middle; and come up with smart plans to defend a particular flank where the opposition are especially strong (e.g. Decordova-Reid as a defensive RW to help deal with those Trippier/Almiron/Bruno triangles at SJP last season).

I expect that in this game they'll look to congest the middle of the park as much as possible, denying Maddison space & inviting crosses given Spurs lack of aerial threat from open play. Looks to me like a 1-0 / 2-0. I actually don't really mind playing Leno here as he can easily pick up 2 save pts. Will be captaining Haaland myself

Not at the moment but I will be getting him this week. He's my main captaincy consideration besides Haaland and I could potentially be swayed depending on the team news. But I feel like Pool have sometimes looked a bit flat lately (especially v Wolves) with Gakpo up front. If we get a leak that Darwin starts I'd be open to a last minute switch

    A)

    Turner (3.9)
Trippier - Pau Torres - Van de Ven - Guehi (Taylor)

    Haaland - Alvarez (4.3)

    B)

    Haaland - Alvarez - Watkins

    D)

    Haaland - Alvarez - Watkins

Try to narrow it down if you can, bit hard to read as it is. B and C are the same so it's effectively:

      A) 3.9GK, Pau, Guehi, Son, 4.3FWD

      B) Areola, Pau, Kabore, Neto, Watkins

      C) Areola, Cash, Andersen, 4.3MID, Watkins

      From those I'd say C

I think he'll be OK, was the same last time out and he started in the Saturday 3PM KO. There are less injury issues for City now so perhaps more of a question, but given City have lost their last two and he's arguably their only consistent attacker right now, I think he starts

Do you think it'd be from RB though? Things have changed now & maybe they need Walker to provide width. In preseason Stones was stepping into midfield from CB (alongside Dias) - maybe that's the way they'll go now

          • 5 Years

Yeah I'd say more likely from CB, Walker has been superb this season. Think Stones would give them extra options too given he can step forward leaving Walker in a back 3, or Walker can step forward leaving Stones there, and depending on who is at RW it'll have a knock-on effect there too so might be an extra bit of unpredictability that they could do with right now

Son didn't train with the South Korean team until yesterday. "I will participate in today's training and check my physical condition. My condition is better than a few days ago"

They're playing two friendlies so you'd hope no unnecessary risks would be taken, but he played 90 mins in a friendly v Saudi Arabia on the Tuesday night before the PL returned in the last IB despite minor concerns over his knee then (as well as it later coming out that he's been having issues with his groin), so I'm not confident he gets much of a rest.

He's been carrying this groin issue for some time now though clearly, been subbed around 70mins in every game since GW4, and Postecoglu said he trained "the last 2 days" on Friday last week, so that combined with this news suggests he's not been training fully for a while. Chances are him playing regularly through this is going to catch up to him at some stage

Afternoon all. Couple questions I would like answering if possible:

    1) Is Turner under any rotation threat from the GK Forest signed from Benfica (where even is he)?
    2) Who would you move on to bring in Gabriel in GW10: Walker or Botman?

    Thank you 🙂

      1) I expect he will be if he has a bad game or two.
      2) If Botman is back from injury then Walker.

Botman. Possible Howe eases him back in after his injury and you already have Schär as cover.

Thinking of doing a -8 hit, which should set me for the next 5/6 GWs.

I’ll have who I deem as most essential in Haaland Salah Saka Trippier. Is it worth to do this?

    Flekken + Pinnock + Foden > Strakosha + Trippier + Neto (-8)

    Squad this week would be:

    Areola Strakosha
    Trippier Saliba Cash Porro Gusto
    Neto Salah Saka Maddison Mbeumo
    Haaland Alvarez Semenyo

      I'd say 100K.

A good manager who doesn't play too risky should be able to finish top 100K every season I think. If you finish outside of top 100K you probably made some mistakes (not that it makes you a bad manager overall)

Anything higher you have to have gotten the rub of the green.

Yup. If they made it easier to click out of it AND made it so that it popped up only once rather than every time you enter the article page, I’d be fine with it.

Like placing the x somewhere near the bottom right or something. It needs to be similar to the “accept all cookies” Pop ups. It’s a slight annoyance, but nothing that should ruin your experience.

That depends, is it popping up for those that are paying for membership here? If not then fair. But if so (which I'm assuming is the case) then there's no leg to stand on. Ads are fine but no need to be placed so poorly and to appear on every page you load / reload

Son may have been hooked early in games and played slightly less minutes but Maddison has also been hooked early. That is why I do not like the double up.

For me it’s essentially Saka + Maddison Vs Son + martinelli.
