I had Luiz on my original wildcard team. That is, for GW 1.

    Sensible moves?

    Out: Maddison, Alvarez, Burn

    In: Bowen, Watkins, Tsimikas

    -4, exact money

Have Madds, Alvarez, Bowen and Tsimi myself and would love to get Watkins. But can't see how and won't break up my team to get him.

Yes, that's sensible, though I'd probably want some Newcastle in defense. If you have Trippier, this makes sense for sure.

    Areola, Turner
    Trippier, Cash, Burn, Udogie, Lamptey
    Son, Maddison, Foden, Bowen, Bruno
    Haaland, Watkins, Archer

I am regretting not having Salah. Would you make the following move for -4:
Son, Foden, Bruno --> Salah, Mitoma, Gordon

Would then transfer Bowen to Saka in a following week.

To free up cash for players with good fixture swings like Salah, Saka, Bowen, Watkins. All have better upcoming fixtures than Spurs.

I have both Son and Maddison but will most likely be selling one of them this week.

Wildcard activated to catch price rises and avoid price falls. How's it looking, any changes you'd recommend? 0.1M spare.

    Areola
    Trippier | Gabriel | Tsimikas
Salah | Saka | Maddison | Bowen | Douglas Luiz
    Haaland | Watkins
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    Taylor | Burn | Archer | Branthwaite

What's up, Hippo. I like that move. I might prefer Gordon to Luiz, but am not sure if you can afford that move.

Any reason you're not going Turner at your GK2?

I could squeeze in Gordon by changing Branthwaite to a 3.9M defender (Taylor etc.), but I've had my eye on D. Luiz for a wile and his performance today, coupled with Villa's upcoming fixtures made me select him (Palmer was also an option for 5th mid).

I haven't given much thought to my 2nd g/k to be honest....any recommendations?

For what it's worth, you can rotate Newcastle; they have good enough fixtures that a double up some weeks ain't bad.

Hi chaps, just trying again here as I feel in a pickle, need advice here on how the heck do i try to squeeze in some Arsenal/Brighton and more specifically Watkins in here?

    Areola
    Burn - Cash - Trippier
    JWP - Maddison - Salah - Son - Diaby
    Haaland - Alvarez
    ________________________________
    Turner: Zouma: Archer: Kabore

    2FT’s, 0.1 ITB

    A) Diaby + Alvarez > Palmer + Watkins
    B) JWP + Alvarez > Palmer + Watkins
    C) Son + JWP + Alvarez > Saka + Palmer + Watkins for -4
    D) Maddison + Alvarez > Mitoma + Watkins
    E) Something else

At a bit of a loss what to do but I’ve no issue booting JWP or Diaby now.

Just feels I’m getting rid of very good players at the same time.

Any thoughts much appreciated guys! Thank you

Son and Archer to Watkins and Palmer? If you're willing to take a -4 then you can move JWP/Diaby to Mitoma as well

I have to say that’s a damn good shout that’s totally escaped my radar, cheers bud! Yep can easily do Son + Archer > Watkins + Palmer then with more than enough to do JWP/Diaby > Mitoma the week after it for a -4.
Just means going without Saka and Arsenal assets I suppose.

If you haven´t played your WC yet what is your strategy?

Maybe I´m missing something but I don´t see huge upside in using it around the City blank. I won´t be selling Alvarez as I bought him cheap

    1. House Frey Wedding Planner
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 1 month ago

I can see a huge upside of saving it until then if you don't need to use the WC before.

You can use your FTs to transfer your City assets out in GW18 when they blank. If you have Haaland as well, then the money received from selling him will cover any other transfer and you could also probably be able to afford to bench Alvarez as well that week. Haaland's price won't go up massively when you buy him back as he is already very highly owned.

If as expected, City have a double gameweek in GW20 with home games against Brentford and Sheff Utd, then you can WC in GW19, attack the DGW with triple CIty (KDB might even be back for then as well), and set your team up for the 2nd half of the season and still have the 2nd WC to activate later when you need it.

        Thanks for your reply!!

Have gotten to this after a -8 ..... The dilemma is whether to wildcard to recoup the minus 8 and fix my defence etc. or to wait until GW 19

        Areola

        Colwill - Cash - Tsimikas

        Sterling - Maddison - Saka - Salah (C)

        Haaland - Alvarez - Watkins

        Turner - Palmer - Tarkowski - Kabore

        1. House Frey Wedding Planner
          • 7 Years
          2 years, 1 month ago

You could get away with holding that team for GW10 as Brentford at home is okay for your Chelsea assets. If by the end of the week, you need to make more transfers, then you're better off wildcarding this week as anything more than -8 probably won't be worth the hits.

    A) Diaby
    B) Mitoma

    Have Watkins.

From what I saw of WHU highlights JWP still playing deep. Not what I want. Might have to do him to Mitoma on a free

He’s been sitting on my bench since my WC so yeah but it means I bench Alvarez vs UTD…what you think?

In a similar situation with Alvarez. I’d probably get Mitoma and risk benching Alvarez. Depends on UCL mins.

Alternatively I could do Botman to Gabriel and bench JWP. Which one you think?

I’d start JWP vs Everton and see if West Ham get a penalty

Yup. JWP playing too deep. You’re relying on the free kicks and nobody can predict them

I was hopeful when he was playing further up with Soucek & Alvarez behind him but it looks like roles keep changing

        Prowse ➡️ Mitoma?
        Or
        Botman ➡️ Gabriel?

Either would mean a benching for Alvarez vs UTD if I play the fixtures…

JWP looked fine to me, I wouldn't be looking to sell. But tis not the consensus on here.

      He didn't score I guess.

Too deep from what I saw and imo the fixtures aren’t as easy as the green suggests

I was under the impression people got JWP because of his set pieces, not much else. Plus you have players like Soucek to get on the end of it. Nothing has changed in that regard. JWP rarely scores in open play.

Nah for me I saw him playing quite advanced in a 10 role for a couple of games plus the added bonus of set pieces otherwise I wouldn’t have brought him in

He was definitely playing higher up in early games. Dropped deeper now with Soucek playing at #10.

Not sure I’d have either as Kudus will get into team as #10 eventually

It does. It’s taken a few gameweeks to free up funds for Salah without losing Son and Haaland so I want to pull the trigger before another price rise, but I’ll feel stupid if Son is injured tomorrow

I see everyone else is pushing to wait. For what its worth, a few more words: the early week moves can be problematic, with practice injuries, but every 0.1 counts these days. I've been priced out of later moves because I waited in-week. I expect Salah and Palmer will both rise before next weekend's games. So there's risk here, even if you won't get boxed out.

Agree. It’s the Spurs game I want to see the most and judge if Maddison is worth keeping or if Son is subbed early again.

I can do Son to Salah for free with exact money but I’d like to keep Son with him being on pens and explosive.
