No price changes predicted for Adingra/Palmer (ideal move) so can hold off for a last minute transfer decision on Watkins.

    - Adingra to Palmer
    - Watkins to Darwin/Isak

    1FT 0.6ITB
    Areola

I don't understand the argument below. Every game is important for Villa when competing for highest possible finish in the league.

"I just can't see Watkins starting against Bournemouth with Manchester City and Arsenal coming up in the next week"

Underestimating an away fixture against Bournemouth imo.

    2. The Biscuitmen
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 6 days ago

I'm unsure of the full context but it could mean Villa have 3 games in 7 days so it's better giving him a bit more rest for the second 2 games rather than rush him back for the first game. Not necessarily saying they want to rest him for the stronger opponents.

      1. Tommy Template
        • 11 Years
        2 years, 6 days ago

The bit I don't understand is if he's injured he's injured and he's out as long as he needs to be. This took about easier games etc, suggests to me he's not actually injured but they're worried he's not far off breaking down without a rest.

      2. Tonyawesome69

      2. Tommy Template

this is flawed logic though isn't it? You can't manage a problem. If you need X amount of rest to fully recover an injury you should probably take the full rest period or its just there floating around in the background waiting to happen again. Obviously if he's fatigued and his body is at risk of breaking down that's a different matter. Wilson who is a perma sick note in fairness was said to have a tight hamstring for weeks didn't really get the break he needed and guess what his hamstrings gone.

    1. Tommy Template

I don't think its daft. Gets the penalties which Darwin doesn't. Probably a better finisher than Darwin. Has less competition than Darwin. The only negative is he's not long off the back of an injury and probably gets his minutes managed (coming off when winning around an hour maybe) to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I'm in the same boat but minus the FT. It'll be a shame to lose Watkins for a nice game this week but I'd rather keep him if its just a game he's missing, if there are longer timescales it needs relooking at but he'll be hard to get back in and I do want him long term. Archer over Taylor imo, a lot more upside.

I agree. Lacking that 0.2 could be blessing in disguise. They are in coin toss category anyway.

Already done Cash + Bowen to Saliba + Mbeumo with 2FT.

Watkins to Darwin worth a -4 or just leave as is?

    Areola
    Taylor - Saliba - Gabriel
    Salah (c) - Saka - Mbeumo - Palmer - Son
    Haaland (vc) - Watkins

    Bench: Turner; Archer, Branthwaite, Porro
