    RMT (Roast My Team):

    Pickford
    Gvardiol Saliba Konate
    Salah KDB Szobo Nkunku
    Watkins Isak Havertz

    Virginia; Rogers, Livramento, Faes

Need to keep an eye on Konate to make sure he's nailed. Also not keen on Szobo as a Liverpool fan. The rest is good

        Cheers.
A lot can change with this squad, but I don't mind Szobo as a cheaper punt with the rest of non-Salah attackers expected to rotate.

I’m a Liverpool fan and even I would not pick those two players. Luiz Diaz or Mac allister are better punts

The consensus was that he is oft-injured because of a lost season last year...

However, he averaged 43 matches per season in 4 seasons at Leipzig and is still only 26 years old.

If you think you score more points by skimping in defence than compromising in midfield/attack, then go for it. Nobody can have a definitive correct answer at this stage.

unfortunately this is because of all the auto pick teams which tend to feature more midrange players, the ownership will keep increasing in both as we get closer to deadline and for the hardcore/elite i expect most to own both for GW1

      Poor value.

You realise Haaland would have to score over 350 points to equal the value of the 6.5 - 10.5 midfield options?

People are sleeping on Bowen big time.

He's consistently delivered for 4 seasons. A far better pick than even Gordon let alone Eze or Nkunku. I'm literally seeing teams without all 3 of Haaland, Bowen and Saka (these guys guarantee points) - you might as well kiss goodbye to the season before it's even started

A'noon All. Looking at the fixtures, (and the FDR function on fixtures on the EPL site is pretty handy,) city's run from gw7-12 is amazing, and no haaland in this period could be a disaster.

I'm currently planning on having salah from gw 1-6 and then likely doing mo and watson to haaland and 6.5m mid. Anyone else thinking the same?

    1. ebb2sparky
      • 15 Years
      1 year, 4 months ago

I plan to start with both. Most likely I'll wildcard quite early and reassess then but I'd be surprised if I don't keep haaland all season (barring injury).

      1. Malkmus
        • 14 Years
        1 year, 4 months ago

Thanks. I just think Haaland is overpriced for the opening fixtures, given the other players you can have. 15m is massive. But yeah an early wildcard is likely when the bargains show theselves, e.g. rogers, nkunku, munoz etc.

        1. ebb2sparky
          • 15 Years

City have Ipswich at home GW2 though. Not sure I've got the balls not to captain haaland for that one!

  25. Tic Tacs

Pretty sure my strategy will be set up for GW 1-3 and then WC in the first IB - saving the transfers then wildcarding to take advantage of price rises, and having those transfers rolled over could be super effective - with a set up squad and 3 FTs going into GW5.

    1. ebb2sparky

So, I’ve been running a bunch of optimizations using the rate my team tool. I realize that it’s garbage in and garbage out, and I really only use this as a “sniff test” agains the team I pick. That said, there was something interesting.

None of the optimal drafts covering the first six weeks of the season (and in any valid formation) included Haaland. Zero. Only in week 7 did any Haaland drafts show up as optimal and only then in a 3-4-3. Also interesting is that if Haaland had been priced at say 13.0, he would show up in many optimized drafts.

Bottom line for me is the sacrifices elsewhere required to have Haaland (and especially Haaland + Salah) is just too high. Plus, I feel like the 15.0 price point was really just a shock and awe strategy for FPL towers. At some point, even the top player gets priced out, and I think they found that point this year.

    1. InsertPunHere
      • 3 Years

It's a valid point. Now you've got me taking Haaland out of my draft again, only for the looming spectre of IPS (H) to bring him back in tomorrow morning.

Is anyone looking at Fantasy Challenge yet? If so, how differential are you considering going, given the five-week mini-season. Current draft is Raya-Trent-Son-Gordon-Isak (C), but I'm considering an Arsenal defence double-up with White instead of Gordon.
