How the new Bonus Points System has affected FPL scores so far

The changes to the Bonus Points System (BPS) in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) were something we previously discussed ahead of the season.

Now, with the international break upon us and three Gameweeks’ worth of data to assess, we can see who the early winners and losers are.

HOW DOES THE BONUS POINTS SYSTEM WORK?

The BPS utilises a range of statistics supplied by Opta, who capture actions on the pitch to create a performance score for every player.

These actions range from scoring a goal, assisting and keeping a clean sheet to successful dribbles, recoveries and pass completion.

You can read more about these actions here.

The players with the top three BPS scores in a given match receive FPL bonus points – three points to the highest-scoring player, two to the second and one to the third.

WHAT ARE THE BONUS POINTS SYSTEM CHANGES IN 2024/25?

The adjustments to the BPS for 2024/25 are as follows:

  For the next 2 gameweeks I prefer Salah over Saka BUT I have a feeling ESR's minutes could be cut even more.
  
  Fulham aren't well balanced in midfield with Pereira and ESR, and last game ESR came off first for Berge. I was hoping Berge would soon start instead of Pereira to give ESR more freedom in the 10 role but I'm not so sure anymore. Wondering if I should swap ESR for Adama/Rogers as my enabler.
  
  Maybe wait to see if Salah/Diaz get injured while on international duty.

    Good point. I asked this question below , but Salah and Saka have good GW6 fixtures. They are ok until gw9.
    
    Then you have the Palmer option As mentioned by Bobby.
    
    But with ESR upgrade you don't have the Salah captain option and Diaz has to come back from Columbia
    
    Saka could still score way more than ESR next GW
    
    I am torn and 0.1 short ATM
    
    At the moment, I am kind of favouring ESR to Diaz move

  Looks great in mid and forward lines but not a fan of the defence. Southampton look terrible so Ramsdale not a solid option imo. Lewis/Maz not sure how many more starts they get with Wlaker and Shaw coming back into the picture soon I imagine.

    I've gone this season in FPL with intention of cheap 4.5m defenders. Yes they are mins risk is possible but can change them out for other 4.5m defenders. Plus I rather pump money in mids/fwds and whatever the defence gets is extra points same with GK.

  You can't do A or B since you're 0.1 short. Eze going up doesn't mean you get 0.1 in the bank... it just increases Eze's price (when he goes up 0.2 you get an increase of 0.1).
  
  Don't do D. Don't lose Haaland for anything in the world, especially not for a misfiring Watkins. Form over fixture.
  
  I think either roll or upgrade Muñoz/Hall.

      Good point there. Casts a lot of doubts over Lewis. Tough choice... I'm on Lewis at the moment as I brought him in with my WC before the price rise but I need that spot for a starter week in week out. I'll either stick with him and swap later or swap before next gameweek. At least I beat the price rise in case I decide to keep.

Anyone swapping ESR?

I've been hoping Berge would get a start soon instead of Pereira which would free up ESR to play further forward, but I'm a bit worried about ESR coming off first on the weekend (for Berge) instead of Pereira. Berge will add a lot more balance to that Fulham team so wondering if we eventually see Berge start and ESR/Pereira share the minutes.

I'm on WC right now and have been wondering whether to swap ESR for Adama/Rogers as my enabler moving forward. I've had ESR from the start.

  If you're on a WC, and you accept the fact ESR may be a risk, then I'd advise to avoid him. I'm personally giving him one more game to see if he plays advanced but alas, I'm not on my WC so I'm kinda forced into a corner as he's not a priority transfer.

  I would maybe swap Konsa as I don't think Villa get many cleansheets. And Semenyo I'm undecided as he got a tough run in the next 7 fixtures other than those 2 juicy ones... could Adama/Iwobi be better for the next 2, then get Semenyo?

    i actually looked at those 2 specifically... but their history is so shocking... iwobi averages 3 goals a season and adama is so inconsistent with returns even when he is playing good.

    It looks okay but my concern would be longer term, particularly if you've played your WC already where do you go on the likes of Pedro, Rogers, Semenyo and most of the defenders if they get injured, lose form or become mins risks? I can't see many other attacking options in that 5-5.5 bracket I'd want to even contemplate owning and most of the cheap defenders are just meh.

I have 3 FT but I am actually tempted to WC, since I can roll those 3 transfers over and build up 5 for another mini WC later on.

I never WC this early but I feel the no-Salah mistake must be rectified and, whilst I can get him in with my 3 frees it feels like an ideal time to sort out my defence too.

Decisions, decisions, especially as Salah’s price is going to go up likely several times in the next 10 days, starting tonight.
