"Their Opta xG of 0.91 (1.04 with Statsbomb) was the first time they’d dipped below 2.0 xG since Gameweek 1."

Off course this happens when most WCers bring Haaland in this GW, lol.

As a Havertz owner since GW3, I would never put that C next to his name. Always on the edge of the box for crosses or half a mile behind the attack when Arsenal are going forward.

Honestly based on common sense. Salah is more expensive for a reason and has better fixtures. That's such a sideways move. It only makes sense if you want to do it as part of a combo move

            • 1 Year

Disagree. Palmer is the better player based on every single attribute. The only way Salah outscores him is if Liverpool keep getting soft penalties awarded to them like they did yesterday.

It's still a sideways move...waste of a transfer. Only casuals would do that move no offense. Its your game ofc you can do whatever you want

I've had him since GW3. My issue was with you saying Salah would outscore him this season, nothing at all to do with the logic of anyone transferring him in now.

Don't forget a transfer is worth (not cost) 4 points. So for that move to be worth it for one week Palmer in theory should get at least 4 points more than Salah...can happen but unlikely

Salah to Palmer this week is crazy. Definition of overreacting to one GW. Chelsea’s upcoming fixture aren’t amazing, nor are Liverpools but Chelsea’s are worse.

      After Forest (H), it’s…

      Liverpool (a), Newcastle (H), United (a), Arsenal (H).

Look, if Haaland really struggles without Rodri (which I doubt), then it could be genius captaining Palmer during this run.

However, for me, I’ve missed the big hauls and just have to accept it’s probably not wise to pivot to him now.

Has he really slipped under the radar at nearly 42% ownership? I know he wasn't in the thoughts of a lot of GW6 wildcarders but it does seem beyond that he's not gone missed that much. He's higher owned than Saka.

I kept him in WC GW6 thankfully cos the rest wasn't great for this GW. Palmer has no Euro games. He'll be fairly fresh most GWs and the dominant attacker, freetaker and penalty taker for a decent team who can still do alright against strong opposition. Like not many stopped getting Haaland in after a great first season for City. Why would you lose his old teammate who's a decent price?

Spot on. Ridiculous given the few clean sheets that are about to suggest palmer has tough fixtures to score points in. He is a genius and some people who don’t have him are still trying to feel better about it by blaming Brighton (who were a hard fixture according to a load of people dismissing palmer pre match ) and not the fact that he is on another level.

If it helps, as a Chelsea fan I've watched the game in its entirety yesterday. Everything went through Palmer and even Jackson was unselfish because it seems every player understands that Palmer has a better chance of scoring than themselves.

The fixtures are bad by looking at paper, but think about this for a second, Palmer struggles against low block (like NFO in his next game) but is generally better when opposition is playing high line (like BHA and every other tough fixture after NFO), so I reckon he should actually do well vs Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Chelsea plays under Maresca brand of football where there gonna be goals whomever they play against.

I know this is hindsight but goals for forest are hard come by and they scored two away to Brighton the week before so you could say yea maybe Brighton should be a target for attackers. However he is the talisman of Chelsea who are scoring goals. So probably makes sense to bring him in alright

I bought Palmer in last week on w/c and ignored all of the content creators - none of them had them listed in their w/c teams.

Palmer outscored Saka last season and he only started playing in week 8.

This is one of the secrets of FPL: trust your gut and back quality players. Palmer will score against anyone.

I like B. Salah getting points and missing out on points too. But I have not been impressed when it comes to the eye. You get a banger in palmer and a significant upgrade in Solanke. I have Palmer albeit not having a transfer available TBH. I got lucky but my Pedro problem lingers too and I will be upgrading to Solanke myself. I just got battered by a ML rival who sits on 106 points; 50 coming of a Palmer cap.

I love FPL with ups & downs during the season.

Looking back over the past 3 GWs the captain I
selected within my squad what a difference it
    makes - fine margins.

    OR 1,103,401
    Points 385

    GW6 Haaland 4 points - Palmer 50 points
    GW5 Salah 12 points - Haaland 18 points
    GW4 Salah 4 points - Haaland 26 points

20 points made with captain against 94 points if selected a different captain within my team could have been.

    OR 2,089
    points 459

I know we all have the same but goes to show a few good weeks with lucky in captain GW choice the difference
it makes - I'm enjoying this season a lot more than others as my aim to enjoy more.

In my mini-league a one point gap between top (OR 327,269) & second (OR 357,005) is actually just under 30,000 places.

My point or encouragement regardless how your FPL season going there is not many points gap between places
wishing all my fellow FPL Managers enjoyment & lucky during the season.

I was toying with the idea of removing Palmer or Salah for Saka all week until I did last 30 min, Palmer to Saka. I looked at Palmer vs Saka fixture, the next 3 in particular and thought there is an upside.

It was a huge mistake this gw, but I still feel like Saka will be closer in the next 2. Palmer is such a player who can easily score 3/4 per game, but can also blank against tougher defensive teams. I expect a very difficult game against Forest and Saka vs Southampton is surely going to bring points, hopefully major. Then its Pool away for Palmer and Bou away for Saka. Patience is key now.

Saka has scored once all season, even in the hammering of Bolton in the league cup he didn’t contribute. People are picking him at 10m for 6 pts each GW, it isn’t worth it.

Saka is very good but really stays wide, which as a fan of natural wingers I love.

But if he's up against a decent full back he's not going to hit the heights Palmer does.

I'd happily buy Saka but not at the expense of Palmer.

6x38 gives you 228 points which is more than enough to justify 10m mark, he's just not explosive as other options. When the season finish points difference between Saka and let's say Palmer will be most likely very close but you'll have some huge swings like yesterday, happens every year.

          1. Mr 500
            • 1 Year
            1 year, 2 months ago

I agree but then you're forgetting the captaincy.

I might captain Saka once in a blue moon but Haaland, Salah, Palmer are the best options imo as they are always likely to go mad as Palmer did yesterday.

Those double points make a big difference in a season.

I'm not forgetting captaincy, it wasn't really the topic of this conversation.

OP arguments were "form" (which is an overused, meaningless term in my opinion) and Saka being 6 pts merchant which is somewhat true.

Out of all premium options he is the weakest I would say in terms of the ceiling so you're sort of right claiming that Palmer, Salah or Haaland are better (C) options. Nailing these mega-hauls is completely different story.

Must admit the forum is annoying today because I consider these thoughts quite obvious....
    A) Salah to Palmer is only worth it if its part of a combo move. Its a sideways transfer otherwise and a waste
    B) Saka to Palmer is not worth it until Sakas fixtures get worse
    C) Diaz regardless of this blank was always a risky pick. Don't feel unlucky if you have him he wasn't going to score every week. Look what happened to Jota. He's cheap for a reason and Slot said he'll get rotated with Gapko so you decide if you want someone who will play maybe 4 games out of 6.

The forum is annoying because there's 2 types of posters.

Salah's points were 'only' from a penalty so I don't take any particular credit for that but why would anyone sell Palmer?

He's scored hat tricks last season, got 20 odd points against Wolves, when he goes big he really goes big, he's on pens and is involved in almost every single Chelsea attack.

        So obvious.
Just do not get that one.

Because he looked disinterested, off - almost as if he was either confused or frustrated. Injured even.

Plus his stats did not stack up to a combination of Saka, Diaz and TAA.

Only kidding. No one is right or wrong, its just how things pan out. I find transfers a pain tbh as I tend to get as many wrong as right, did a few this week which haven't worked but so be it, I was in protection mode which is probably a bad idea.

I only wildcarded in gw3 or 4 whenever it was to get in Haaland as it required 3 changes. Think it went ok overall but it was in the lap of the gods.

Might turn round next week and Saka runs riot.

Wouldn't worry about it. I did my WC in GW4, thought I had a very good team, triple Liverpool, triple Arsenal, N. Jackson against Bournemouth. But nope, grand total of 33 points with David Raya as top scorer. Last week exact same team bags 76 points, this week sitting on 66 points with 3 still to play.
Morale of the story....Football is a game played by humans....humans are fallible. So no matter how "easy" fixtures look sometimes things just don't work out. I spent half my day last Sunday trying to figure out how Liverpool lost to Forest at Anfield, in the end you just have to accept football is random because humans are fallible.
      Best of luck next week.
