Anyone else looking at a serious benching dilemma this week?

    Mbeumo vs Jackson for me.

Taa vs Gab for me (Due to playing robinson, milenkovic)

      And Mbuemo vs Rogers

Feels obvious yet hard at the same time

I have no idea how that is a dilemma?! Jackson should be sold not considered for the starting 11, especially against one of the best value midfielders in the game

It's a weird one. Jackson really should have hauled last night, and you know he'll get there eventually. Mbuemo is playing 2nd in the league away, albeit at home. Jackson is home to a team whose struggling in the relegation zone. Could swing either way, and I'd like to be on the right side!

Totally agree, Sam. That +10 bonus is just too powerful, and I think Slot is a really poor option. The way I'm looking at it is, even sneaking a 2-1 win with the underdog bonus gives you 18pts. For Slot to match that, you need 2 wins, 2 CS and 2 goals.

Tough potential DGWs for Palace: 33 v BOU new / 36 v tot ars. But at least the bonus should be in play for all of them, so you only need one win for a nice haul.

One DGW option (although perhaps unlikely that WOL/LEI make the FA Cup SF) which appeals to me would be Wolves v LEI BHA, assuming the bonus is active for the BHA game. Or Ipswich v new BRE if their later form tempts me

Yep. "If the manager is eligible for the Table Bonus at the beginning of the Gameweek, they’ll still be eligible regardless of the changes to league positions over the course of the Gameweek."

But that only applies for the first of the 3 game weeks that the AM chip is played. The rank difference with the second and third opponent may change prior to those game weeks.

That's what I'm trying to understand and that's how I understood it. If there's a 5-place gap at the deadline, but your manager's team doesn't play until Monday night, you'll still get the bonus regardless of what happens at the weekend.

I would then expect the bonus to be calculated based on the league table at the next gameweek's deadline, not the gameweek you played the chip.

      Said this the other day:

"Assuming Liverpool win every game 2-1, that would net 32 points from the chip. Salah would have to score 16 points across 2 games to match that, which I don't think is beyond the realms of possibility (basically a goal in each game).

I think the AM chip is capable of yielding much more, especially with the 'underdog' bonus up for grabs, and some good teams mid-table or lower (United, Spurs, Wolves, Brentford)."

Sorry - to clarify, is it as the league table stands in GW1 when you play your AM chip, or secondly is it as the table has changed to by the start of the third week?

        1. x.jim.x
          • 11 Years
          10 months, 24 days ago

I think it works as follows:

Say you pick Ange to use your chip on in GW26 - they have fixtures against City and Bournemouth and Fulham. As it stands, City and Bournemouth are 5 places clear, so let's imagine the table is the same then as now.

Spurs beat City and Ange gets the 6 win points + 10 point table bonus. Spurs move up the table, and during the same GW Bournemouth lose to Wolves. Spurs finish the GW in 12th and Bournemouth drop down to 8th.

This means for GW27 the table bonus wouldn't be applied if Spurs beat Bournemouth. That's my understanding of it and happy to be corrected of course!

Mid table teams (safe from relegation and not fighting for Europe) being on the beach is also a factor and something we've seen in the past. We could see a lot of relegation threatened teams racking up table bonus against these teams in the last 4-5 weeks.

The more I think about it the more I am convinced that saving the AM chip for 35-37 is the way to go. We will have a clear picture of double fixtures and might know which mid table teams are on the beach and which relegation teams are looking good for the 5 place table bonus. There will be more sackings as club panic and so for me it's trying to pick who this year's Glasner will be.

    1. The Mentaculus

That's when I'll be playing it, I think. Or maybe 36-8 if I have to use my FH in 34 (rather than saving it for 38)

The more I look at fixtures, the more I like Chelsea against avl, SOU, LEI. Potentially 3 wins as well as goals galore. Cant see anything better than this except Glasner during same period but bonus might be off by the time we reach the GW.

So close with the Slot analysis to revealing something I don’t think has been properly analysed by any content creator… that using this AssMan chip in a DGW window shouldn’t be a given.

The extra game with a top manager like gives 5-8 extra xPts in the DGW, which is worse than the BB or FH, probably similar to the TC

    But the upside!

The problem is the upside comes with targeting table bonus, and the teams are generally where they are on the table for a reason. It’s going to be very hard to successful guess the fixture to get the benefit

    1. x.jim.x
      • 11 Years
      10 months, 24 days ago

I'd say that Wolves, United, Spurs and probably Brenford are in 'false positions' (better teams than the table would suggest) and should be the teams to target, I think.

      1. Casual Player
        • 5 Years
        10 months, 24 days ago

        Agree

Just saying if you use AssMan over a DGW you’re getting 1 extra crack at a table bonus. That’s it. 1 extra manager game

The most likely outcome is nothing. The upside is huge, the 16+ return… but would you rather a safer return from the FH chip, where in a DGW you can target better fixtures and maybe get an extra 4-7 scores? Especially when blanks should be much easier to manage with 5FTs.

I don’t think it’s as clear as the content creators do.

Totally agree. And you can target great 3 SGW fixtures with a potential better outcome than 4 fixtures in DGWs

For argument's sake, if the table stayed as is, you could have Ange from GW26 - City (H), Bournemouth (H), Fulham (A). You get the table bonus for all 3, with a good chance of winning and plenty of goals.

This article seems to be relying too heavily on that table of best-tgree-game-block scores. Yes ariola scores highest, bit that was due to the perfect combo of Bournemouth being positioned lower than they should have been, up against teams probably higher than they should have been, and/or getting unexpected results.

Betting on spot may have a ceiling, but it also means you should be able to EXPECT a minimum of about 15 points.

Betting on a lower team manager on the hope they get the "table bonus" comes with high rewards - could be north of 50 points - but could also quite easily get ZERO points if they lose all 3/4 games to nil.

Later in the season the positions teams are in also better reflects their rating. So less likely for bottom teams to beat top

    1. Casual Player
      • 5 Years

Yea, said it better than I have attempted above.

Everyone is focused on the upside while ignoring the variance.

It is going to be very difficult to guess the correct fixture for the big haul

Feels like everyone reckons they’ll get 50 and dismisses the more likely possibility they get 10.

Yeah I totaly agree, was thinking the same.

Only 4 managers did beat Slot in their perfect 3-game-slot. Why not just stick to Slot and get the 5th best result (using the chip in DGW24 maybe even 4th/3rd place) instead of making risky punts on lower ranked teams.

Obviously this is very rough (and not really my forte), but Liverpool to beat Brentford (a bit easier than Bournemouth away imo) = 1.5

Best price I can see on underdog bet is Leicester to beat Fulham at 3.8.

      xPoints:
      1/1.5 * 6 = 4
      1/3.8 * 16 = 4.21

But you can probably find better underdog punts/odds than that, e.g. Everton to beat Spurs (doesn't quite qualify currently) is 2.7, which would give you 5.92

I like this scientific approach. I wonder what score you get if you compare the odds + potential points results of slot vs moyes from gw24...

          • 11 Years

I just realised Everton would play palace, Leicester and man utd in that slot of four as well as Liverpool. So they could only get the bonus points for a result against Liverpool.

It just does not seem worthwhile at the moment to bet on a lower-ranked team for this

Hmm nice thoughts in the article.
BUT: Yeah there is a big upside IF you catch the right team for the right 3-games-slot. But that‘s not that easy to figure out and in many cases it won‘t work.

Why not just stick with Slot in the DGW and get a safe 5. best output of 20 teams (with the DGW maybe even better output)?

Need to start accumulating FT's, so can use them on the Assman chip for 3 weeks, rather than trying to pick a perfect 3 week run for a single manager. If they win in the 1st week of the three, the next 2 teams might also lose in the 1st GW and hence might no longer be 5 places above them to get the 10pt bonus.

Would you do JP and Raya to Wood and Allison for free ?

Eye on DGW and the saints home fixture for wood next week…

Had him since before the Everton game was originally scheduled actually. Not sure I'd buy now

TAA already in the team. I'm considering Alisson, Konate and Gakpo/Jota/Diaz. I won't be making a decision on the 3rd pick until GW23/24 as the landscape may change.

After maintaining a 40 odd lead over December despite benching 40+ points over that period it's finally caught up with me. Rival only 11 behind after Palmer capt and Wood.

I had Salah capt and benched Wood for Pedro. Hoping for a miracle frm Gordon and Amad my only differentials left this wk and a Pedro injured scenario

A lot of interest in Chris Wood as he continues his over performance and home fixture against Southampton next but should folks be looking at getting ahead of the curve with the next bandwagon?

I think Wissa should be considered more as the next FWD transfer. Not a great entry point this GW but good fixtures after 22.

Ideally try to assess each player in isolation, both are great picks and top 2 for xGI in the team.

I'll be moving Jackson to Wissa, as i don't have Mbeumo and want to get in on the Brentford action.

    from David Ornstein:

EXCL: Chelsea activate option to recall Trovoh Chalobah from loan at Crystal Palace. 25yo defender returns with immediate effect so not available for #CPFC at #LCFC tonight. Considered by #CFC as important part of squad for rest of season @TheAthleticFC

Guys who would you bench here? I benched Robinson this gw so not sure if I'll get punished again

    Sels
Gabriel Aina Hall ( Robinson Lewis)
Salah Palmer (C) Bruno Mbeumo (Dibling)
    Isak Wood Solanke

Benching Robinson is and was the right decision btw - West Ham scored 3 and he had no business getting those assists

Yeah deffo mate, he always seems to pop up with an assist though when you don't expect.

And here I was, starting him because of his attacking potential and not CS. He is what people think TAA is, on FPL that is, this season.

True, but when you've got the likes of Munoz and Hall who also have attacking potential, but better fixtures, it's pot luck really.

Think last night went as well as it could have done really, and we got very lucky with Palmer. Think Isak will do well tonight though, it's just a matter of how well.

Think Isak will score well also, it was between Isak and Bruno for me.

    Hi guys,

I have 4 FTs & 2.5m in the bank so lots of flexibilty but dont know where to use it as I like my big money players tbh

    Pickford, Vlad
    Gabriel, TAA, Colwill, Mazraoui, Greaves
    Salah, Palmer, Foden, Rogers, Diallo
    Isak, Wood, Pedro

Players I'm looking at moving out are Colwill, Mazraoui, Diallo, Pedro but other than Aina I dont see anyone who would be a big upgrade? Any suggestions?

And out of those 4 who would you prioritise getting out?
