I had a look at this post on the last article and didn't want to answer it!

Mins in the UCL tonight for Trossard/Martinelli/Sterling/Nwaneri will impact the Martinelli v Vardy dilemma.

Not much in it when looking at CS odds, BOU 29% and 27%. Lean towards Munoz for open play threat

Fairly set on Timber Jackson to TAA Gakpo. Then bench Munoz?
Also, still not sure what to do about Bruno, not convinced by Mbeumo away to Palace, would you maybe bench Bruno and play Sarr? Sounds a bit stupid tho.

I have TC still available and was likely using in 24, however I wonder whether using AM is a better shout and gives more flexibility later?

Need to decide today as if I don't go AM I want Gakpo for this week and it means triple Liverpool, so blocks it next week.

It could be. The fact that it prevents you from playing another chip for 3 weeks and takes 1.5m of your budget means it really needs to be planned well for.

1.5m is hardly a huge amount this year. AM can be used in SGWs without much loss, cant say the same for other chips.

            • 15 Years
            10 months, 18 days ago

1.5m is not a lot when you can resign all of that budget to bench fodder.

Try fielding up to 15 viable DGW players in anticipation of a bench boost.

You will feel that missing 1.5m I can absolutely, 100% assure you.

It's not at the moment. But if/when Saka comes back and City get past this next 7 horror run of fixtures, we really could start to feel the crunch when we want Salah, Palmer, Saka, Foden as well as a decent bench for BB.

That's one of the biggest pros for using the AM now imo.

Shouldn't be? correct. Wouldn't be? It could well be if you want to use FH, WC & BB from GW32 onwards.

Assistant Manager in 24 is kind of doing my head in a bit. First, I would not AM in 24 for sure if I had TC left. TC Salah in 24 just makes way too much sense considering potential rotation later in the season.

    Pros:
    - Liverpool have a double and WOL in GW25. Compared to other Liverpool doubles potentially down the line, these 3 games are the most generous on paper.
    - Most of us easily have the budget to accommodate Slot right now which might not be the case later.
    - There is no obvious 3rd Liverpool for this double if you don't think Gakpo is nailed (which you could certainly make a case for given the CL lineup from last night).
    - Using AM early means in double season you have your full budget to work with to setup a bench boost and work around blanks.

    Cons:
    - Both away games and potentially tricky fixtures for Pool. Bournemouth are good and Everton is a derby away from home with new manager bounce. No guarantee that Liverpool win both of those.
    - Opportunity cost later in the season where there could be upset potential for bigger points and/or teams on the beach.
    - Technical difficulties around the AM chip since it's new could mean that you lose out if there's a problem with implementation and inadequate compensation.

I was pro using it since I don't have TC left for a few weeks but I'm leaning towards not doing it now. I think Bournemouth's good form is largely what will end up dissuading me from going there. I think Liverpool drop points in at least one of the games in the double and the fact there could be more easily identifiable upsets later in the season means it's likely better to save the chip until later.

The CL lineup is an indicator that Gakpo is nailed to play the important games, if anything.

Good post. I have also been planning to use AM chip GW24 (don't have TC left). I agree the fixtures don't look that appealing for Pool and they aren't scoring as freely as earlier in the season. TBH the main pull to playing it for me is to get it out of the way at a reasonably decent opportunity.

      Still undecided.

    3. Conners
      • 6 Years

In simple terms, there'll likely be multiple opportunities to use AM effectively later on, much less so with with TC.

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 15 Years
        10 months, 18 days ago

I'd argue it's the opposite. There are fewer opportunities to use AM later because it spans 3 weeks. The TC you can just throw out whenever you don't have a chip to play in a DGW.

However, the TC chip is better used in GW24 imo because it's likely to be the best double for Salah (who's the best TC option by far) and because he's nailed to start both while Liverpool still haven't sewn up the league which might not be the case for the potential doubles in 33 and 36.

        1. Conners
          • 6 Years
          10 months, 18 days ago

Perhaps, but there'll be less doubles this season and TC is really a 'double GW-only' chip, whereas the fixtures may not necessarily align well for using AM in a DGW.

It also depends on your strategy as far as the table bonus is concerned as the majority of the sides in the bottom half won't have a double GW anyway.

            • 15 Years

AM is also a DGW only chip. It doesn't make sense to use AM without at least one of the weeks being a DGW. Even more so than the TC.

            1. Conners
              • 6 Years
              10 months, 18 days ago

There's also the fact that you'll lose a potential BB or FH opportunity by playing it in a double.

There's a fair few assistant manager opportunities around gw33 or earlier for Fulham and Brentford.

Potentially targeting the game against Chelsea depending on their respective league positions then.

I've got 3 x Everton and 3 x Liverpool for their double - so I feel there'll be a much higher upside to 24 - 3 x Everton will then just be bench fodder, until 29 when all will play V West Ham, so I'll have at least 9 for that week - and should have 4 or 5 free transfer by then - and will play TC, FH and AM later in the season

Isn't this first negative a reason to reconsider using TC on Salah too?

      Cons:

      - Both away games and potentially tricky fixtures for Pool. Bournemouth are good and Everton is a derby away from home with new manager bounce. No guarantee that Liverpool win both of those.

I'd argue no. Because Salah can score/get points even if Liverpool don't win.

The AM chip really depends on getting the result correct.

I was considering it too as I could go Wissa instead of Gapko. But then the bid came in from Forest.

So I am just doing Gapko

Bournemouth are an away side like Palace. But in different styles.

The Bournemouth p mill all draw was great for Palace as a fan and we defended well but Bournemouth didn't create much.

      It wasn't too long ago

I see slot winning all 4 games

I'd do it next week for free, not sure it's worth a hit.

Would be peak FPL to sell someone away to City in bad form for someone at home to Ipswich and somehow lose out.

I'd also add that Gakpo has only managed double digits once season, and got 9 points 3 times. He hasn't been hauling enough for me to think a hit would be worth it.

Thanks all. Should have added that if I don't take the hit, I'd be benching Jackson anyway and starting Joao Pedro and Kluivert..

Conversely I'd be benching one of those two if I was to get Gakpo in... obvious scope for a hit not to pay off, but I'm trying to chase down a 50 point gap in my main league...

Assuming you're on about Gakpo, he played 85-90 mins in 4 of the last 5 league games - the only exception was against West Ham when they were 4-0 up before the hour mark.

I think he'll start all three personally (fitness allowing). He'll be needed to combat Liam Delap and DCL physically, and whilst Bournemouth are in such good form Slot won't take any chances IMO.

      I think he'll start all 3 if he's fit. But that's a big if.

I can get VVD this week then Kerkez in 25, or TAA next week and then Huijsen in 25. Can't decide which I prefer!

    A. Get VVD this week, bench Munoz. Kerkez in 25.
    B. Play Munoz this week, get TAA for the double. Huijsen in 25.

Slow morning and I seen a post from someone stating TC in a DGW doesn't go well for them so I decided to look at my TC picks for the last 4 seasons.

Certainly different to this season TC24 with all the fixtures at home. Hopefully Salah this season can match or score more than season 21/22!

    23/24:
    DGW25 Haaland 30 points
    1G v CHE (H) & BRE (H)

    22/23:
    DGW22 Rashford 60 points
    2G v CRY (H) & LEE (H)

    21/22:
    DGW26 Salah 84 points
    3G 1A v NOR (H) & LEE (H)

    20/21:
    DGW26 Kane 24 points
    1G v BUR (H) & FUL (H)

I normally save the season data from LiveFPL at the end of each season before FPL remove the data.

Wissa - cheaper, better underlying data and guaranteed fixture in 29

Is AM on Moyes in 24, transfer to Silva in 25 and Pep in 26 madness?
Could result in a wasted chip, could result in 70pts haha

Assuming no injuries opening up further transfer opportunities this week ...

Is Timber to Konate a lot better this week than Onana to Pickford?

That means dicing on Onana or Fab once again. Unlikely for points.

Also, why are Man United playing at Fulham at 7pm on Sunday? Is it the Europa fixtures pushing the Saturday lunchtime game out. What a hopeless slot for those going to the game on a cold January evening.

I'll probably just do that next week.

I think Brighton score and Konate should be able to get a clean sheet home to Ipswich.

Arsenal might but Wolves can score at home too.

    Fabs, Kluivert, Robinson, Milenkovic
