The pre-season friendlies really ramp up now, with all bar four of the 20 Premier League clubs scheduled to be in action from Friday to Sunday. It’s our busiest weekend of the summer to date.

Some top-flight teams are even playing each other, with the Premier League Summer Series getting underway.

Brighton and Hove Albion, Leeds United, Chelsea and Manchester City are the odd ones out but don’t be surprised if the Seagulls and the Whites are in action in behind-closed-doors friendlies that haven’t been announced. The other two, of course, are on belated post-season breaks following involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Here are all the declared friendlies so far:

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

FRIDAY

FPL Gameweek 5 differentials: Schade, Calvert-Lewin + Maddison 3

We’ve seen most Premier League teams in action already in pre-season but tonight will be our first proper look at Keith Andrews’ Brentford.

Bryan Mbeumo (£8.0m) has already exited, while Yoane Wissa (£7.5m) has left the pre-season camp in Portugal amid speculation over his future. So, we’ll see a fresh-looking frontline against Gil Vicente, with Igor Thiago (£6.0m) and Fabio Carvalho (£5.0m) alongside Kevin Schade (£7.0m). Antoni Milambo (£5.5m), and Gustavo Nunes (£5.0m) will likely get game-time from the bench, too.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are away at Crawley this evening. This will be our first sighting of Daniel Munoz (£5.5m) and Eberechi Eze (£7.5m), who have had an extended post-season break due to involvement in the June internationals. Eze starts, with Munoz a sub.

SATURDAY

Ekitike, Wissa, Garnacho: Transfer rumours of interest to FPL managers

Might we get our first glimpse of Hugo Ekitike (£8.5m) this weekend? This game may come too soon for the Frenchman but he has had his first training session with his new teammates, so there’s an outside possibility.

We will, at least, get to witness Florian Wirtz (£8.5m) in a first ‘proper’ friendly after the behind-closed-doors kickabout with Stoke City last weekend.

The Premier League Summer Series kicks off in the States (United States), meanwhile, with Bournemouth facing Everton. The Toffees’ major summer acquisition, Thierno Barry (£6.0m), is with his new teammates in America, so we should see him in action across the pond.

In Edinburgh, Sunderland’s injury-hit backline could be set for a boost with a first appearance from Reinildo (£4.0m). One of the few £4.0m FPL defenders with genuine game-time prospects, he’s been in training for a week and could face Heart of Midlothian.

Keep a watch on the budget defenders on show in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ trip to Stoke City, too. Ki-Jana Hoever (£4.0m) was at right wing-back last weekend as the search for a new Nelson Semedo drags on. While it’s questionable whether he’s the long-term solution there, Hugo Bueno (£4.5m) and Rodrigo Gomes (£4.5m) may well be in a straight fight for Rayan Ait-Nouri‘s (£6.0m) vacated gung-ho wing-back role.

Thomas Frank and Scott Parker will be splitting their squads across two friendlies on Saturday, while Fulham and Nottingham Forest face each other.

SUNDAY

FPL notes: Isak + Trippier injury updates,

Who won’t be on show is the big talking point from Newcastle United’s clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Officially, Alexander Isak (£10.5m) is absent from the Magpies’ travelling squad to Asia with a “minor thigh injury”. But we all know now that the Swede is wantaway – so it’ll be interesting to hear what Eddie Howe says to the attending media before and after this weekend’s clash.

Lewis Hall (£5.5m) is back from injury and has made the trip to the Far East but Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.0m) sits this one out again.

At midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning, the second Summer Series game sees the Uniteds of West Ham and Manchester meet. Bryan Mbeumo (£8.0m) should make his Red Devils debut.

Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) is meanwhile poised for his first Aston Villa run-out of the summer.

Quite keen on Rice this season. On corners, takes a few free kicks and should hopefully benefit from the defensive contributions. Think he could be pretty good

More tinkering... forward line too weak? Not convinced by JP, but hard to ignore 60%-plus ownership. Backing Bowen over Wood, but Gyokeres will probably shake things up.

I feel like Bowen's position shift lowers his appeal a bit. Loses the potential clean sheet point and extra point for a goal, not on pens as far as I'm aware (when Paqueta is on the pitch)

Yep. And good point on pens. I've only got three pen takers in there. Maybe Wood better. Problem is there's a quite a leap from 7.5m forwards to ones I'd like to have in the number one slot. Maybe should downgrade the defence.

The problem I am having trying to build a BB GW1 squad is the massive fixture difficulty swings in GW2 for teams I would be looking to double or treble up on.
    Liverpool are away to Newcastle
    Leeds away to Arsenal
City and Spurs play each other
    West Ham play Chelsea

There is no way I'm going to be able to fully target GW1 for 15 players then manage to have 11 players with 'easy' fixtures GW2.

It's strengthening the argument for BB GW1 - WC GW2.

    1. Snoopydog
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 1 Year

This is one reason why I don't like the BB GW1 strategy. Another is BB is a waste of time anyway (too many disappointments), so what's the rush, I'd rather give a first-choice 11 a few weeks' run. And if going to do it, better to do so off the back of a WC, having built some funds and knowing for sure you have 15 who are nailed to start.

      1. Yes Ndidi
        • 6 Years

I think there's the perfect opportunity for a BB somewhere around GW16. Either WC into it and use the AFCONs to redress the bench balance afterwards, or vice versa depending on fixture preferences. Can have a very strong bench without having to fit a certain Egyptian in.

Daniel James looks under-priced at £5.5m.
He averaged 0.72 goal contributions per 90mins and also won few penalties that will count as assists in FPL.
Past FPL record total is 12 goals and 13 assists from 6479 minutes played, which would equate to around 13 goal contributions over a full season.
For comparison Enzo Fernandez had 13 contributions last season and is priced at £6.5m

    Hi all,

Apologies for the possible obvious question. I'm useless at technology and this new website has confused an old man. Where can I find the league PIN numbers for the FFS members?

    Best

Bit late JIm, but I think it's under "transfer history" on thw side with all the leagues and ranks.

Has anyone found a way to view the player list without having to select a player out, choose transfers and then you finally get to view the list!

Nope. Someone said it's available on the desktop site, but that doesn't really help.

It’s sending me potty, I just want to be able to browse players without having to deselect a player out and then chips transfer out and then even when you do get there, that interface and filter process is shoddy

I’ve already sent FPL a complaint email, which they’ve acknowledged but doubt it’ll make any difference

I put my 15 players in RMT and got 347.8 over the six weeks with their *BB in place for week 1. In past years 60 per week was good but 70 better, mine works out at nearly 58 (*inclu BB). Is this a fair reflection on what you have if youve tried it ? Just wondering if the old "good" "better" figures are reduced now with these new rules and harder team picks.

Weirdest thing just happened. Scout logged me out like it often does and when I logged back in, I was in the CMS of the website. Apparently Zoph may bench boost in gameweek 1. Have reported it to support@
I haven't touched or changed anything. I think someone has accidentally upgraded my permissions. Doesn't seem very secure.

I could have posted an article that said "FPL Virgin is the new CEO of Fantasy Football Scout and he is challenging Will from Fantasy Football Hub to a charity boxing match" but I didn't. I love this site too much.

Would’ve been great if you’d have out the site back to how it was 10 years ago! Next time a way back when 😀

Gawd. Those were the days. There's just no comparison to how it is now.

Is there any point in starting with VVD Gvardiol Gabriel given their teams opening fixtures?

Only if you have the patience to set and forget them for all of the season.

Any good 4m defender options? Preferably any fullbacks if there are, if not then playable ones?
