Another busy day of press conferences is ahead of us – and this will be the place to come to get all the big Gameweek 10 team news.

There are 16 Premier League managers facing the media on Friday, hopefully clearing up the lingering concerns we have about flagged players.

As ever, we’ll be bringing you the latest key team news updates in this ‘live’ article. Keep checking back throughout the day for the latest updates.

For the headline updates from Thursday’s four press conferences, check out this article here.

GAMEWEEK 10: KEY INJURY UPDATES FROM FRIDAY’S PRESSERS

GAMEWEEK 10 PRESS CONFERENCE TIMES

MANCHESTER CITY

Erling Haaland is, unsurprisingly, fit for the visit of Bournemouth.

The Norwegian sat out Wednesday’s EFL Cup victory over Swansea City with a “knock” but he was pictured in training the following day, and Pep Guardiola gave him a (concise) clean bill of health in his pre-match presser.

“Yeah.” – Pep Guardiola when asked if Erling Haaland is going to be fit to face Bournemouth

Rodri (hamstring) has also trained this week and Guardiola says the Spain international could feature, even if it’s not from the start.

“I think he willl be ready to help us. I don’t know if from the beginning but hopefully he can be with us.” – Pep Guardiola on Rodri

Abdudokir Khusanov (ankle) returned to the squad in midweek.

ARSENAL

Mikel Arteta provided an update on William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli, who both sat out the midweek cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion after picking up injuries in Gameweek 9.

Martinelli will miss the trip to Burnley, while Saliba is a “wait and see”.

“No [new injuries], I think we have the same ones. Martinelli is still out. Saliba, we have to wait and see. We have another training session this afternoon. The rest are still getting closer, I think in the right direction, but not available yet.

“We don’t know [how long Martinelli will be out] yet, but I think this game is going to come too early for him.” – Mikel Arteta

Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Declan Rice shook off minor illness and injury concerns to make the bench against Brighton. The two England internationals emerged as substitutes.

Martin Odegaard (knee), Noni Madueke (knee), Kai Havertz (knee) and Gabriel Jesus (knee) remain on the unavailable list.

“I would say weeks and some of them pretty soon, hopefully, if they keep evolving the way they are doing. It’s difficult to put a [return date on it], you know that we have the international break, which is a two-week break there, and after that I think we’ll have some back. I don’t know if it’s going to be all of them [or] some of them, but we’ll be quite close by then.” – Mikel Arteta on Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus

LIVERPOOL

Ryan Gravenberch (ankle) returned to training with the Reds on Thursday, with further assessment to come today to see if he can feature against Aston Villa.

Curtis Jones (groin) and Alexander Isak (groin) will almost definitely miss out.

“Ryan trained with us yesterday. The other two didn’t yet.

“As I said many times, in the end phase of the injury, things can slow down a bit or things can go faster. Let’s wait and see where [Isak and Jones] are.

“Like I said, Ryan trained with us for the first time yesterday, will train with us today. Then we are going to make the call if he is able to start, yes or no.

“The other two are probably 99.9 per cent sure not in the squad [on] Saturday.” – Arne Slot on Messrs Gravenberch, Jones and Isak

“Alex had to do his pre-season inside the season and people can then argue, ‘Why do you play him?’ But if I don’t play him, I don’t have him available and we need to have him available, because otherwise I have to play Hugo [Ekitike] every single game. And I was just with Owen Hargreaves when he made the comparison between the two of them, and he showed that one played 34 games last season, the other one 34, and we play 60 over here. So, that’s why I need to get Alex as soon as I can into playing as many games as he can.

“That has been something not only with him but with a few others as well. Jeremie Frimpong has been in and out with injuries quite a few times, same with Conor Bradley. So if one is out, the other one has to play more – that’s why I’ve played Dominik Szoboszlai a few times in that position” – Arne Slot

Alisson (hamstring), Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring), Jayden Danns (hamstring) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) are unavailable, while Amara Nallo is suspended.

Asked if he could adopt a more defensive approach to stop the rot, Slot stuck to his guns.

“It does go against my beliefs, but I’ve won games in the past [like this]. So, we are talking about [Manchester] City away, that maybe went against my beliefs [last season] but it was necessary to play it like that over there in the second half. So, I would be more than open to adapt in certain situations, but I don’t think the story is – at least, in my opinion – we concede chance after chance after chance, or that we are too open. It is absolutely not like this.

“I don’t see us conceding a lot of chances, so I don’t see a reason to change our playing style completely, but we need to do better in not conceding goals, that is for sure.” – Arne Slot

CHELSEA

There wasn’t a great deal of team news to report from the broadcast section of Enzo Maresca’s presser.

We almost got all the way through the press conference without any kind of enquiry about injuries, indeed, only for a reporter to belatedly pose a question about Cole Palmer (groin).

Not that there was much of an update…

“I just met him in the canteen for breakfast and I told him, I will say that in one week you are back. He was laughing. Now with Cole, there is exactly the same plan. Wait and hopefully he can be back soon.” – Enzo Maresca on Cole Palmer

A lot of Maresca’s press conference was devoted to Liam Delap’s midweek red card, the Chelsea manager’s post-match words and the Blues’ ill-discipline.

Maresca was keen to draw a line under the Delap incident.

“I don’t need to speak with Liam. I spoke with Liam, but Liam, he knows everything. He’s aware of the situation. He knows that he made a mistake. And full stop. No more than that.” – Enzo Maresca on Liam Delap

Delap’s dismissal for two bookable offences against Wolverhampton Wanderers means he’ll have to serve a one-match ban in Gameweek 10.

Mykhailo Mudryk is also still provisionally suspended by the Football Association.

Palmer aside, Benoit Badiashile (muscle), Levi Colwill (knee) and Dario Essugo (thigh) are the only definite injury-related absentees for this weekend.

We have seen further quotes from Maresca (presumably from the ‘written’ section of the presser) reported by the media on Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. All of those players have been dealing with niggles recently but are available.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Cristian Romero (abductor), Destiny Udogie (knee) and Wilson Odobert (abdomen) are all fit for this weekend’s London derby.

“The positive is that [Cristian] Romero, Destiny [Udogie] and Wilson [Odobert] are available for selection for the squad.” – Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank had said in midweek that Guglielmo Vicario (small injury) will be “ready for Chelsea”.

Dominic Solanke (ankle), James Maddison (knee), Radu Dragusin (knee), Archie Gray (calf), Koto Takai (foot), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Yves Bissouma (ankle) and Ben Davies (muscle) are still sidelined.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Tino Livramento (knee), Harrison Ashby (thigh) and Yoane Wissa (knee) remain out, with Eddie Howe unable to offer a return date on Wissa.

“It’s definitely not West Ham.

“He’s working very hard, he’s on the grass, he’s getting the fitness work in now that he needs. I’d say he’s not close to training with the group at the moment, not through injury but through fitness and making sure we now build his robustness.

“So, I’m not trying to be evasive. I don’t know when the moment will be when he’s back with the squad.” – Eddie Howe on Yoane Wissa’s return date

Lewis Hall (hamstring) is the closest to a return: Newcastle hope to have him back in training today.

“He’s very close. He hasn’t trained with us yet so hopefully he will be training with us today for the first time. We will see how he looks. I think he’s worked really hard, he’s looked after himself, he looks in really good shape, but then we will have to introduce him back into the squad at the right time.” – Eddie Howe on Lewis Hall

Will Osula‘s ankle needs week-to-week monitoring, while Sandro Tonali got through 90 minutes in for Wednesday’s cup win over Tottenham Hotspur as he battles back from an infection.

“I don’t think there’s anything new [injury-wise]. We are still managing Will Osula’s ankle. We will see how he is today, but apart from that, I think we are as we were.” – Eddie Howe

“He looked very good physically. He tired at the end, naturally, because I think he’d given so much, but I think you could see his quality. I was delighted that he was back in the form he was on Wednesday.” – Eddie Howe on Sandro Tonali

Sven Botman (head wound) was fit enough to make the bench in midweek, alleviating any concerns about a concussion.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Eddie Nketiah (hamstring) and Adam Wharton (illness) will miss the visit of Brentford this weekend.

Chris Richards (calf) is fit, however, despite sitting out Wednesday’s 3-0 victory at Anfield.

“We had a scan [on Nketiah] yesterday. The result came back and was better than what our [original] concerns were. It’s a minor muscle injury. It looks like he’ll be back after the international break. So he will miss three games but then should be back.

“Chris Richards is back tomorrow so he is fine. He trained today without any issues.

“But we will miss Adam [Wharton] again, he is ill. He is getting better, but we won’t and can’t take any risks.” – Oliver Glasner

“I don’t see any problem with JP the next three games, and then Eddie should be back.” – Oliver Glasner on Jean-Philippe Mateta’s workload with Eddie Nketiah out

Despite the clean bill of health, Oliver Glasner will continue to be careful with Richards’ minutes.

“We tried to manage the minutes here, resting him against Larnaca, but you can’t cheat your body. The body tells you when it needs to rest, and Chris already told us that he needs more rest.

“Let’s see. I haven’t taken the final decision if I start him tomorrow – he can, he’s fine, everybody says he’s fine, the medical department says he’s fine – or play Jaydee [Canvot] again. Let’s see how my belly is doing in the afternoon.” – Oliver Glasner on managing Chris Richards’ minutes

Chadi Riad (knee) remains a couple of weeks away from a return, while Cheick Doucoure (knee) and Caleb Kporha (back) are still out.

BOURNEMOUTH

Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Evanilson (calf) has trained and could make the trip to Manchester City this weekend.

The Cherries have no other injury concerns.

“I think now we are in a good spot, injury-wise. I think we will recover Eva, he has been training most of the week normal with the team. So, now it’s very difficult for me to make decisions because I have to leave some players out of the squad.” – Andoni Iraola

FULHAM

It’s mostly good news on the injury front at Fulham.

Joachim Andersen (hamstring), Harry Wilson (knock), Rodrigo Muniz (muscle), Samuel Chukwueze (calf) and Emile Smith Rowe (hamstring) are all either “in” or “in contention”.

Only Antonee Robinson (knee) is definitely ruled out, although Raul Jimenez (hip) is a doubt.

“After the Carabao Cup game, things start to look a little bit better, I have to say.

“Joachim Andersen is going to be in, definitely. Robinson is still out. Emile Smith Rowe is going to be in contention to the game as well… and of course, the other players like Harry Wilson, too.

“The other players we have to analyse, like Rodrigo Muniz, like Chukwueze, as well but it looks like they can be in contention to the game, too.” – Marco Silva

“Still in doubt, we are going to decide with him tomorrow morning. He has the same problem that he got against Villa, it was a knock there. He felt it again, it was a knock again there. Okay, not so painful like after the Villa game. He’s getting better, tomorrow we are going to take a decision if he is going to start the game or not.” – Marco Silva on Raul Jimenez

ASTON VILLA

Emiliano Buendia (foot) and Youri Tielemans (calf) will miss out this weekend but the former should be back for the following game against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Tielemans is earmarked for a return to training next week.

Andres Garcia (unspecified) is still “weeks” away.

“He is not available for tomorrow, but the injury he has is going well. I think with a few days more, he can be fit and available for the next matches, hopefully.” – Unai Emery on Emi Buendia

“Still the same players out. Youri Tielemans, he is progressing well. He is going to start training hopefully next week with the group.

“The other one is Andrés. Andrés is progressively getting better, but still some weeks to come back.” – Unai Emery

Loanee Harvey Elliott can’t face his parent club this weekend, meanwhile.

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Fabian Hurzeler says he expects to have the same squad available for the visit of Leeds United, with only a “small chance” of players returning.

Kauro Mitoma (knock), Joel Veltman (calf) and Brajan Gruda (knee) are getting closer to recovery but none of them were deemed fit enough to be involved against Arsenal on Wednesday. James Milner missed that game with a “small muscle injury”.

“I think it will be the same squad like we had against Arsenal, so no changes regarding this.

“Also, the players who are still affected [by] small issues, they might not be available. There are small chances, but I think that the squad from the game against Arsenal will be the squad for tomorrow.” – Fabian Hurzeler

Mitoma is at least on the grass, with the aim of returning before the November international break.

“No, honestly not. He’s back on the pitch, he’s training. I don’t think that it’s a big issue and I think we can see him even before the international break.” – Fabian Hurzeler when asked if Kaoru Mitoma’s injury is more serious than first thought

Asked if Tommy Watson could get his first Premier League start in Mitoma’s absence, Hurzeler said it was “definitely an option”.

Jack Hinshelwood (ankle), Adam Webster (knee) and Solly March (knee) remain on the longer-term injury list.

SUNDERLAND

Regis Le Bris has confirmed that Omar Alderete (concussion) is “getting better” and trained with the squad on Friday morning.

“He’s getting better, trained with the squad this morning normally. On the way.” – Regis Le Bris on Omar Alderete

“He is still a doubt for Everton because he is in the concussion protocols, but we hope that he will be out of them tomorrow [on Saturday].” – Regis Le Bris on Omar Alderete, via the Shields Gazette

Simon Adingra is fit again after missing Gameweek 9 with a minor hamstring issue, while Dan Neil should be free to play after a head injury of his own.

EVERTON

Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring) and Nathan Patterson (foot/hernia) remain out for the Toffees.

David Moyes hopes his sides are otherwise unaffected by injury.

“[Patterson] has had a small procedure on his groin, so he’s obviously not available for this game.

“Yeah, I think [we’ve come out of Gameweek 9 unscathed]. We’ve got a couple of knocks and bruises and one or two people with little bits but hopefully we’ll be okay.” – David Moyes

BRENTFORD

Aaron Hickey (knee) and Yehor Yarmoliuk (knock) are both fit for the trip to Crystal Palace.

“Unfortunately, Yarmo went off last weekend and took a knock, which I think everyboydy could see. He tried to run it off but it was quite a strange one, he landed on studs in his abdomen region. It was quite a nasrty one. We’ve nudged him through the week and he’s got to a good place where he’s available.

“Aaron picked up a little injury with Scotland going back to the last camp, so again we’ve pushed him as much as we can in a safe way. It’ll be good to have him available.” – Keith Andrews

Benjamin Arthur (knee) has joined Antoni Milambo (knee) and Josh Dasilva (knee) on the sidelines but unlike the other two, his knee issue is a short-term one.

WEST HAM UNITED

Oliver Scarles underwent surgery on a collarbone injury this week and will be out until December.

George Earthy (hamstring) also remains unavailable.

So too do Konstantinos Mavropanos (muscle) and Niclas Fullkrug (thigh), with Nuno Espirito Santo confirming that both injuries are of the short-term variety.

“[Mavropanos] has started now his fitness programme, his first session on the grass. We expect a couple of weeks more for him to be totally available.

“Niclas Füllkrug is still out.

“Still not sure totally sure when [for Niclas] but he’s started already on the grass, not totally with the group. So, we expect that it’s going to be fast.” – Nuno Espirito Santo

Nuno added that Lucas Paqueta is “going to play on Sunday” amid the off-the-field inquest into his conduct.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Matt Doherty (knee) and Rodrigo Gomes (groin) will miss the trip to Fulham. Both players were forced off in the midweek cup defeat to Chelsea.

Leon Chiwome (knee) is still unavailable.

Looks like stage 5 of the Concussion protocol - enhanced care pathway. He should be ready to RTP on Monday against Everton.

He will definitely most likely play. But the game I need him the most for is the Everton game so Id rather bring in someone whos 100% right away than 90

    Play one

    A) Bijol (bha)
    B) Cucurella (tot)

Bijol DC seems likely, assuming he plays. It's only based off one game, but 14 DCs against a shoddy West Ham bodes well.
Cucu has some attacking threat, but not much xG/xA this season so far; has also got DC away to Brighton this season, but generally DC seems unlikely.

I could add C) Semenyo to that
Automatically benched him due to fixture, but could consider playing him

Doesn't seem like a close decision to me.
Leeds aren't as strong away from home and you have to take game state into account when it comes to Defcons. They took an early lead against West Ham and sat tight for the rest of the game, which partially explains the high number of defcons. The sample size is too small to read into it.
I wouldn't expect any defcons from Cucurella. Can't see a CS either, though Chelsea usually take that match, so I wouldn't rule out an attacking return.
Still, it's hard to look past Semenyo, he is the kind of player you start regardless of fixtures. In fact, he scored against M. City last year as well and he'll probably find some space to run behind City's defensive line again.

Burn could easily get a CS and a goal/assist against WH

Who to Captain, I’m going to do one so please don’t say neither 😀
      Timber or Cali?
      Thanks…

Very bold, I wouldn’t be brave enough but I think timber has a higher ceiling

Tough one. Gut say Califiori, but head says Timber. Timber has higher PPG (6.7 v 6.0) and that includes a 19m cameo

Cheers chaps, more undecided than ever but good info. I may go Cali due to more attacking threat…

Calafiori higher ceiling. Timber more consistent probably. Cala for captain then.

'Higher ceiling' = higher likelihood of a blank (all else being equal)

Excellent team but I’d want double Arsenal defence personally

Yeh cant seem to find funds to get timber or calafiory. Unless i downgrade senesi to 4.1/4.4 def?

I’d be tempted to downgrade senesi and upgrade James to Timber. You’re probably going to play Gabriel Timber and Munoz most weeks anyway and I think that Arsenal defence is going to continue farming points.

        2. z13
            3 months, 2 days ago

James to Timber/Calafiori and there is only Mukiele and King on the bench there whoever else you were planning to bench can downgrade

I'm definitely benching Pedro and Senesi. Bench 1 more:

          A) Grealish
          B) Porro
          C)Tarkowski
          D)Thiago

          A) Alderete (EVE)

          C) Richards (BRE)

I’ve got 2 free transfers. My options are:

          A) Start Minteh instead of Pedro (bench Pedro) and roll to have 3 transfers next week.
          B) Transfer out Gyökeres and Pedro for Woltemade and Pedro, then bench one of Minteh / Ndiaye / Semenyo.

          Current front 8:
          Bruno – Sarr – Semenyo – Minteh – Ndiaye
          Haaland – Gyökeres – J. Pedro

          A or B??

None of those three you mentioned are worth benching so A.

            Gabriel, Timber, Lacroix, Mukiele
            Bruno, Gakpo, Semenyo, Grealish
