With just one Gameweek remaining, the community is on the hunt for differentials for a last-ditch attempt at glory. Our community writers take a look at some of the final Gameweek’s best punts, while our hot topics posters also look ahead to the weekend’s fixtures as well as the next season. Strikers are among the subjects looked at in our Members Tables section this week, while we also catch up on the latest standings in our community tournaments.

The Community Articles

James Milner rarely excites our community but, according to JK, we are perhaps being too hasty to dismiss the Manchester City man. His article, complete with tables for Members, shows that Milner is in the form of his life. Dare you consider him as the ultimate dullard differential for Gameweek 38?

If Milner does not appeal as a punt then perhaps The Puntmaster’s final trio of differentials of the season will offer something for those who fancy taking a risk. To mark his final selection he has also launched a competition with the chance to win a £10 Amazon voucher.

The dangers of ignoring punts, such as Sadio Mane were laid bare in Gameweek 37, according to our latest Rough with the Smooth round up of your tales of Fantasy Football woe and joy. This also features one of the highest bench scores we have ever seen.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

The final Gameweek of the season can be a happy hunting ground for those who like to take a risk. To help assess the key matches where point hauls may be found, Twisted Saltergater penned this excellent final-day preview. Crystal Palace, Leicester, Everton and Stoke players are among those he looks at.

Among those players that may make way is Harry Kane, who has scored just once in his last seven matches. In our look at possible replacements Andy85wsm favours Newcastle man Papiss Cisse, while PurpleCobra’s likes the look of Romelu Lukaku for those with cash in the bank.

Midfield is another area where many in the community are looking to make a Gameweek 38 change. While Jafalad is considering Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon, AZ thinks Stewart Downing could be back to his early season form for the final match of the season.

Jinswick is among those paying close attention to potential differentials. He lies in fourth in FPL and is looking to put in place some audacious transfers to catch current number one Dufflinks, who lies 43 points ahead of him.

With the final Gameweek approaching, the community has been in reflective mood, looking back across the 37 Gameweeks gone by to find some common themes that will define 2014/15. For many it was the season where budget strikers such as Harry Kane dominated.

For Enzo the Baker, catching a handful of explosive points hauls from popular strikers, such as Kane and Sergio Aguero, in particular his Gameweek 8 hat-trick, defined the season and played a part in where Fantasy managers will finish in the overall rankings.

One striker that has failed to help the community rise in the rankings has been Manchester United’s misfiring striker Radamel Falcao. But JK wonders if we are being too hasty to dismiss him, should he remain at Manchester United next season.

When the final rankings are revealed on Sunday the long wait for August and the start of the new season begins. For those still needing a football fix over summer, The Sarjeant was on hand to look at some of the key matches and tournaments taking place.

Scordelario also popped by with news of a new FPL focused gadget that helps managers pick over the bones of the season and their key successes and failures.

Looking ahead to next season, D1sable has been pondering potential positional switches for some of this year’s out of position players, such as Aston Villa’s Gabby Agbonlahor.

Finally, Krickey is for Kinnear is continuing his mission to create 2014/15’s best cult XI. His latest plea for votes looks at some of this season’s surprise midfield stars.

The Members Tables

For those looking to take a punt on an attacker Granville has been taking a look at those with the most threat. This has a global filter but he advises using the Gameweek range filter to look from Gameweek 30 onwards.

Crystal Palace could be a good source of transfer prospects, with Ludo taking a close look at the underlying statistics of their players under the management of Alan Pardew.

Meanwhile, the focus of nuttman88’s latest table is sharp shooting strikers. This, too, has a global filter to help find the most up to date hot shot forwards.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Mark has narrowed the gap on Greenwindmill in the hunt for first place in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league to just nine points going into Gameweek 38. Although Greenwindmill looks more secure in first in the Long and Winding Road main league, where second and third placed Dispicable Michu and Simon Walsh both need to bridge a 23 gap to beat him.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition, Mark K. has been crowned the 2014/15 winner, with his score of 69 outlasting 1783 others.

Don't like either of your gambles. How about young and Costa ?

I've got Morgan and bellers and same dilemma. Currently on Morgan for fear of a 5 min bellers cameo, although that's unlikely

Hull need a win and don't score a lot so I suspect that they will try and sneak a 1-0, keep it very tight at the back.

The last thing they need is to go behind early to Utd so I think Bruce's first agenda will be to make sure they don't concede first and then see if they can sneak a winner in the 2nd half.

Newcastle are truly awful and Big Sam will be dying to do his best to send them down. If Newcastle are behind or news reaches them that that Hull are winning and Newcastle aren't I can see the crowd turn on them.

Adrian showed against us that he can frustrate the hell out of relegation threatened teams.

So for those reasons I'd be out for both of those punts.

We shall see. Newcastle manager told every player to be up for it or walk out of the team. Newcastle and Hull are really the only two teams needing to do something. Perez is worth the gamble in my opinion. West Ham are shocking lately and Big sam looks to be getting sacked.

As for Mata it's purely a gamble to try get above the guy in my league. If hull do open up as LVG will try to exploit there defence early on. If they go a goal down early on then they will be open spaces in the defence. Mata for me is worth the risk.

Trailing my ML Rival by 10 points after being down 40 points a couple of weeks ago

Should I do Kane and Hazard to Lukaku and Silva for a -4? How does that sound?

    My team right now is

    Heaton Myhill
    Bertrand Skrtel Morgan PVA Bellerin
    Brunt Sanchez Hazard Cazorla Boyd
    Kane Aguero Vardy

Another question.. Should I start Heaton or Myhill

and do you think Caz or Sanchez would be benched? I think theres a solid chance one of them to be benched I just hope not both.

In light of the updated pressers and team news, would you be hesitant to do

Rambo + Giroud > Mata + Lukaku for free to give me:

    ...............Schmeichel
    .......Terry - Smalling - Morgan
    Albrighton - Mata - Silva - Sanchez
    ......Lukaku - Benteke - Aguero

    Panti; Hendo, Skrtel, PvA

WBA aren't pushovers and Arsenal haven't looked great..at the same time though I am tempted by Mirallas and Costa in instead which I can also afford for free.

    Myhill
    JT, Koscielny, Schlupp
    Silva, Hazard, Sanchez, Siggy
    Aguero (C), Giroud, Kane

    Foster Vlaar, PvA, Cork

Have 1 ft and nothing in the bank. Original plan was Kane > Ulloa, surely has to be Hazard out now? .1 off Yaya sadly, looking at Bolasie but it doesn't really sit well for some reason. Mata also looks a bit of an iffy pick to me.

It is funny. Everyone seems to have a rival, landmark rank, or other reason to go for differentials. I don't think I've seen the word punt with such frequency since I saw Phil Neville doing a crossbar challenge.

The great irony is that the more people take punts, the more upside there is for an Aguero captain haul.

Agree mate. I don't even feel like I take risks except being happy to double or triple on a team when I think it has a lot of upside.

For captains, I fully believe in being a full on dullard, unless maybe I have genuine reason to believe people are missing a trick, like when benteke had a DGW

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 37 RESULTS

    GW35 results - http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/10326810
    GW36 results - http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/10346461

    Ah, the penultimate gameweek results - right before the beginning of GW38 as promised! Ladies and gents, for the second-to-last time this football season, I present the Scout Picks Challenge results;

    1st - Kopite65 (72pts)
    2nd - Seb10 (69pts)
    3rd - Camp Mou & Konig Luther (62pts)

Big round of applause guys! Now the FFS Scout Picks & Differentials scored a combined total of 58 points - however unfortunately this means only the top 3 gained the additional bonus points! Big sympathies towards Zombie and Sticky Mockwell who missed out on a BP by two points, the latter of who would have picked up 3rd place for himself.

That has left the top three as it were - which means that the FFS Scouts have won this season's challenge! (Booo!). There is still the small matter of the 2nd and 3rd places though. There are more than enough people nearby to upset the balance - will it happen?!

    Your top three ladies and gentlemen;

    1st - FFS Scout (22pts) ** Winners **
    2nd - Mookie (16pts)
    3rd - Walsh & Sticky Mockwell (12pts)

Entry will open at 9pm for the final Scout Picks Challenge, and I look forward to a lot of entries! Whether you have something to play for, or just want to have some fun - see you soon.

Can't decide whether to ship Hazard to Silva or not.

I know he's not in a good way but just feel he might play some part?

Silva is in form, Hazard not so much.

        Ok. Cheers for the replies.

How about one of these as well for -4?

        A) Giroud > lukaku (already own Benteke)

        B) Hendo > Punch/Bolasie?

Hazard minus 3 wisdom teeth, infection, not trained, manager says "he's in trouble", last match of the season with title wrapped up. Hmm. Hazard cameo appearance to keep his "every match" record is my guess. (But wait until Sunday for any late news before comitting...)

So I've been away all week so missed all the chat. What are people chasing a big lead doing for a differential captain this week? I'm 40 points off top so only chance of catching is captaining someone not many people have who is capable of an explosive score on Sunday. Diego Costa, Theo Walcott, Juan Mata? What's the general consensus for those looking to take a big risk this weekend?

Of those... Costa. But you need a brace of goals rather than yellows.

Theo would be the potentially explosive for me..

Problem is he may not start and WBA are good at defending. Tough one!

Just not sure on Cisse. Carver doesn't seem to rate him.

Better chance of some returns: McShane or PvA? Both on the bench, but with Sanchez and Cazorla having at least some risk of rotation, I want to have them in the right order.
