Despite their defeat against Swansea, interest in Arsenal’s key players has picked up considerably this week as the Gunners, as well as Sunderland, prepare for double Gameweek 37. Our community writers and posters were full of good advice on the best players to draft, while our hot topics also take a look back at the season’s best, cheapest and most unlikely stars. We also catch up on the latest scraps for mini-league glory in our community tournaments as well as showcase the week’s best latest statistics in our Members area.

The Community Articles

Our resident Arsenal expert Jaffalicious has returned with a timely update on the best attacking assets from among the Gunners ranks. This has already proved essential reading for those wondering which players to bring in ahead of their double fixtures in Gameweek 37. AZ has also been helping out those looking for Arsenal’s assets with this close look at three of their midfielders.

However, early investment in Arsenal players in Gameweek 36 proved disastrous for many, according to our latest Rough with the Smooth round up of your week’s best and worst transfers, captaincy decisions and team selections.

The Puntmaster is among those to be cautious about Arsenal’s differential targets and has instead focused on a Sunderland midfielder and two single Gameweek players in his latest look at the week’s best punts.

Congratulations to Gussy whose guide to Fantasy Football success without ever watching a match proved to be the most popular community article of April. He earns a £20 Amazon voucher for his efforts.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Although Arsenal players will be the main attraction during Gameweek 37, the community is clearly keen on taking some punts on Sunderland players ahead of their double fixtures. In our discussion on the best Black Cat options Brian Utd – Why Always We favours Jordi Gomez (prior to his injury), while HVT has his eye on Jermaine Defoe.

For those considering even more daring punts Jose Mourinho has indicated that some of his fringe players such as Izzy Brown and Nathan Ake are set to start against West Brom this weekend. Patch was keen to know more about these young stars and the community was only too happy to help out.

While price used to be a good indicator of a player’s points potential, Punty believes that this season has ended the notion that a budget price tag indicates less chance of racking up a good score. He wonders whether the large array of quality budget options this season, including Harry Kane and Leicester’s defenders, has made transfer value largely irrelevant this season.

The Puntmaster took a break from offering up the week’s best differential picks to ask which players have proved to be the most disappointing this season. With Manchester United and Liverpool’s ranks beset with injury and poor form for large parts of the season, it was no surprise to see their players amongst those mentioned.

In contrast, Kricky is for Kinear asked the community to name their surprise stars of the season as he compiles a 2014/15 Bargain Basement Cult Differentials XI. To start things off he asked the community to name their favourite budget friendly cult hero goalkeepers of the year and defenders.

Delaying transfers for this season’s unlikely budget stars has cost many dearly this season. Just a Hat’s discussion looked back at this season to see what other key lessons the community has learned.

Cutting down on points hits has been among lessons learned by many this year. But as Goodfella’s discussion on the links between hits and rank found, even the highest placed managers are keen on the odd points deduction.

The Members Tables

To give some further insight into the best double Gameweek players to consider I’ve constructed this table looking at Arsenal’s assets, as well as this look at Sunderland’s most attacking players. Both are sorted by shots in the box, one of the best indicators of goal scoring potential.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

In the Official Deadzone League mateen .a. bakar has a strong lead of two points going into the final two Gameweeks. Ralph Noodles is leading the chasing pack in second place.

Greenwindmill, who sits in 27th overall, has consolidated a commanding lead at the summit of The Long and Winding Road main league and The FFScout Moderators & Contributors league. However, he dropped to third in the Top 1000 Any Season league in Gameweek 36, with Stuart Shingler’s impressive tally of 107 propelling him into first.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition, Mark K., Winter_is_coming, HuttonDressedasLahm, ManTree(v2!) or just JAY! and Arfield Boyd have made the DGW37 final.

Is Sanchez the only captain choice this GW? Have Giroud & Ramsey as well.
Am chasing my ML leaders and they both have Sanchez but not Giroud & Ramsey.

    Wat ye reckon?

    A) Captain Giroud
    B) Captain Ramsey
    C) Captain Sanchez

Depends on how much you need to make up? If a lot then yes and possibly Ramsey. If not much then perhaps just Capt Sanchez and let your other differentials make up ground until next week.

Cheers Innsie. This week could be quite interesting with the different permutations. You've gone 3-5-2, I've gone 4-3-3. I'm sure most will still roll out a 3-4-3 but this week could provide some scope for OR movement. I hope we go green!

very neat Innsie. Looks like going with Giroud on WC for me was a bad idea....for now.

Anyway, would appreciate your thoughts on my options! Skrtel > Kosc or Silva > Cazorla for free?

Have Sanchez and Giroud. Can't get a 3rd Arsenal and keep Silva without going for a hit.

That's a tough one Shifty. The midfield transfer probably has more potential but Silva is in some great form. I decided against Skrtel > Kosc myself... Honestly mate I'm no help on this one I'm afraid. I really can't decide which option is best. Sorry 🙁

Thanks for taking a look. The early transfer is such a burn, but that's how it goes. Henderson could potentially do as well as a Sunderland mid. -4 would add oxygen to the flames.

What about Giroud. The chances of Kos getting 15 points each (1 cs and a goal)x2 is about a million to one. However Giroud could get 2 double digit hauls, because he can get assists quite regularly. He's playing against teams that are poor in the air

He has Giroud also. I need to captain a differential ARS player.

I actually wish I had waited though - would have done Silva -> Santi instead but I wasn't expecting him to make his move so early and I couldn't have afforded Kos if I waited till today.

Movement in his cash balance. He gained 1.7m overnight and almost certainly got an ARS player. Based on the resale values of his squad members and the ARS player prices, it has to be Haz -> Ramsey.

I disagree, he's got Ozil. 10.6 selling value in Hazard over night and a buying price of 8.9 for Ozil. That's 1.7, Ramsey would be 1.8

    Sanchez Ozil Hazard Silva (Boyd)
    Aguero Kane Vardy

I am thinking K. Davis to Ospina? or is Pantilimon a better option?

Or will K.Davis get his starting position back and should I do Moreno to an Arsenal defender instead?

I have 3 arsenal(gru, alexis and Bellerin) and 1 Sunderland (pant) and not enthused about any more Sunderland players.

Not willing to drop Hazard or silva either. Just thinking of a boring punt! Bolasie to Adam with Albrighton as my 5th MF. Does this sound like a waste of transfer? Idea being I can play Albrighton next week and bench Adam.

Both. What are the other options?

      1. Owd Big 'Ed

        Ivanovic, Bellerin and Huth.

Alternatively could play 4-3-3 and drop Sterling to the bench.

Drop Huth. Skrtel any day has more point potential than Huth.

And transfer out sterling. Believe me it helps you sleep well at night.

Who would you start, Schlupp or Albrighton?

Head says Schlupp as both playing as wing backs but Schlupp gets the clean sheet points. Albrighton is on set pieces though I guess.

      I'd start Schlupp.

What about if you knew the guy you were chasing would likely be starting Morgan?

Kind of cancels out Schlupp right?

I guess, but you'll need more than that to catch the nr. 1. And I think a Leicester CS is more likely than Albrighton contributing. Besides, it's also possible Morgan will be the one finishing off any Albrighton set piece.

In the end, I believe Schlupp will be the wiser choice if you're looking for a top 10 rank.

    Mignolet
    Ivanovic, Bellerin, PvA
    Hazard, Sanchez (C), Cathorla, Hendo
    Kun, Kane, Bentekkers

    Krul | Boyd, Bertrand, Vlaar

0FT. Play Benteke or Bertrand? Subs in the right order? Cheers

Is Cazorla vs Ozil a straight forward 50/50 coin toss, or is one actually better to have than the other?

Another tough 1, both haven't scored for a while. Both share set pieces, Caz on pens and better stats.

      Ramsey more explosive

Tricky one. I'd probably keep Kane. If you're chasing then Vardy.
