Is it safe to assume that the most nailed on players (when fit) for man city are Ederson, KDB, Walker, Mendy

I've got Jota as he is so forward thinking and central to most that Wolves do in that direction. I was interested in Pedro and watched CS closely to see how he was. Not impressed at all.
I've still got Jota in my side.

Anyone here brave/foolish enough to go without Salah ? Looking at the fixtures it's only GW1 out of the first 8 where he would be a nailed on captain, from there on Kun and Aubameyang for instance are viable alternatives and that cash saved on Salah spread around really strengthens the team elsewhere.

He probably will be top scorer this season again. Maybe 250 points. Think he is likely to be most consistent captain.

Many players will just put Salah as capt for the entire season. Woulddnt bet against him getting 250 pts this season.

I'm going without, just a hunch the points will be spread more evenly across the Liverpool team this year. As you say, the extra cash gives a much more balanced team for me. Also just fancy trying something different than capping Salah every week like last season. Brave or foolish, only time will tell!

Everton are leaky, avoid. Pickford is an amazing keeper but their defence is trash.

PvA is an interesting pick, but expensive.
      I have VVD, good choice.
      Mendy could be rotated.

United defence has been good. People are suggesting Shaw (5.0) to play.

I was put off by the fixtures and the threat of Adrian getting a run in the team. Personally don’t think he’s much better than Adrian or at least significantly better to be the clear starter.

If he didn't start there would be a meltdown! Adrian was dropped for Joe Hart and vice versa last season so I don't think he was rated too highly, and you presume the new manager has brought in Fabianski

Defenders are drawing interest, Holsbas, Kabasele and another one who's slipped my mind have all been popular.

Chalobah and Hughes in midfield have been popular RMT picks

Gray up front has been in a couple, but is far behind other options in his price bracket

Their defensive stats from the run-in last season are superb - should have kept many more clean sheets. They play with attacking full-backs and Masina seems first-choice and has been taking some corners. Hughes also looks excellent value. You just worry about their striker options, don't you?

Whilst I really enjoyed the workd cup, I’m finding it really annoying not having some of my preferred FPL season picks back for the start of the season. Having to make compromises in my team and look at how I’ll be able to sort out transfers in the coming weeks.

It is a bit of a pain. I do feel it’s somewhat offset by a pre GW1 transfer deadline day this year though, and an early WC is usually a sound strategy anyways, so could work out well for folks

I have decided against Ederson. Going with Mendy bilva and kun. Many alternatives to Ederson that won't do too much worse but if city start scoring big it will be tough to find alternatives to their attackers

Yeah, he's pretty nailed. Europa may mean rotation though.

Bardsley did for quite a while - but he got into the team due to a Lowton injury. Lowton got back into the team due to a Bardsley injury and then kept his place when Bardsley was fit again

I fancy Lowton to bring in some good assist points early on, so him if any.

They'll all score similarly in the long run, either go for an attacking one or one with strong BPS record

I'd guess a mere 5m, like Schmeichel and Pickford. If Chelsea end up paying a world record for a keeper in Obliak he'd have to be 5.5m.

Aguero is extremely expensive for a player who can be rotated at any point, and so is always a danger to captain. Are we not better off having City coverage in Mahrez/Bilva, saving the funds and going for a guaranteed captain choice every week of Kane/Salah/Lukaku/Auba?

FPL is always about getting the most points. Can't see aguero topping 200 this season. At that price he's not great value

      1. Hairy Potter
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

Not think he’s a decent punt to start the season with? He looked sharp in the CS and Pep was praising him. Can’t remember the last time I thought Jesus looked good. He’s a potential captain pick in GW2. After that his cash could be spent on someone else.

Definitely worth a punt I for sure. I'm starting with Aubameyang. Very likely he will out score aguero over the season.

      2. Ole Town Road
        • 11 Years

I disagree with judging off his overall score. It's his points per game which makes him such a good fantasy football asset. Sure he might play 2000 or so minutes, but most of this is due to any injury which he may get and maybe champions league rotation later in the season. For now he is fit and first choice. Should he get an injury (which will inevitably happen) or be rotated due to champo league, then I'll take him out. On the counter Auba had a nearly identical ppg last season, albeit he may start LW rather than ST.

    6. Jackie Moon
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

I still feel Kun will score just as well or better than most strikers, including Auba, even with some rotation. His points per min are just crazy! See your point on captaining, but I have Salah so don’t plan on changing captain too much.

Additionally, has anybody thought about Andreas Pereira? 5.0m, looking nailed to start the season and will be on corners/direct free kicks?

I'm on Shaw atm, should get a couple of games out of him which will allow assessment of the other 5m defenders

Why do people think Smalling isn’t nailed?

Because he isn't. Will probably start the season if fit, but there's risk there. United look likely to sign another CB too.

I wonder this too, at the end of last season Smalling and Jones were ahead of Bailly, why has this changed?

Mourinho said Bailly didnt play because his country wasnt in the WC, Smalling and Jones was fighting for a place in Englands team (at least thats what Mourinho thought).

Never keep 4mil in the bank. Just play aguero instead of arnie

Does anyone know what the Watford defence is likely to line up like this season?

I'm interested in Holebas for a little attacking threat, but don't want any of my cheaper defenders to be at risk of not starting. Waste of early transfers.
