DCL, Rash and Jimi > G'wood, Ings and Vardy worth a -8? Not having G'wood and Ings when everyone else in my ML has them really screwed me this week, plus Jimi's been blanking and I fancy Vardy against Bournemouth.

I am freshening up with a -8, think it’s worth it to get hot attacking assets. For me, I might do Ings next week in your position. I did Kane, DCL and AWB to Vardy, Greenwood and Digne.

The touch maps for Rashford and Greenwood tell the story.

Rashford starts wider (on the left) than Greenwood starts (on the right). That means Rashford is more likely to use his touches to pass or cross inside. Greenwood is more likely to use his touches to shoot or pass inside.

Rashford also loses out because even though he is on some corners, he plays a lot of short corners to Fernandes when he does take them. Greenwood is therefore more dangerous at corners.

A similar analysis to Rashford is Son. Although Son has greater assist potential as he actually puts his corners into the box rather than playing them short.

If you are looking at wide forwards then you should focus on Auba (surprising, but he does get opportunities), Mahrez, Greenwood, Pulisic, Sterling and even Foden ahead of Rashford and Son. These are players who benefit from playing in the inside channel rather than wide and also benefit from having full-backs who are more likely to overlap outside them so they can come inside.

I have Rash, he doesn't look hungry for goals.

      1. diesel001
        • 9 Years
        6 years, 6 days ago

He is playing the Rooney role when Man Utd had Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez. He is the weakest link in the Man Utd attack. That isn't saying he is a bad player, he is a very good player. But he isn't as good as the rest. And so he has been shoved out wide and told to stay there to create the space for Martial, Fernandes and Greenwood.

Son is more surprising. Son is clearly one of Spurs' best attacking players. So the fact he isn't playing more centrally seems tactically inferior. If you look at the best teams, they eventually move their best attacking players into central positions to give them the touches that could have impact. It is true of Henry, Ronaldo, Bale etc. Even if you consider Robben, he would play on the opposite flank so he could cut inside. Also true of Mahrez.

          • 6 Years
          6 years, 6 days ago

I agree with you about positions. But he can still show hunger by shooting more and getting in positions. Look at Greenwood.

Maybe someone who is a bit under the radar, has very few transfers in, or has low ownership.

Not looked into stats but potentially Iheanacho if people think Leicester will roll over Bournemouth, i think it'll be a tight game though

I think Craig Dawson might be decent for a punt - 2 headed goals since the restart, at home to Newcastle who just conceded 5 and are weak at set pieces 0.4% ownership

Bowen. Plays in the right areas and West Ham are finally playing a team in the bottom half of the table.

Would also consider Doucoure if Hayden and Longstaff are still out for Newcastle.

If you think finding a fem differential is the way to climb up rankings, think again. I have made up 70 points in my ML by a template side shell my rivals have looked for a special player. I had no chips and made the wrong captain choices

Grealish. On corners, set pieces, penalties.Villa can win CPalace, with a bit of luck can take a point vs Everton,Arsenal is Arsenal and last game away at WHam anything could happen.(especially if Wham is safe).

Mane(c), Vardy, Martial, Jimenez, Wolves CS. If these all come through I wouldn't even mind KDB and Foden 1 point cameos

I needed a cheap replacement for Eddie Nketiah so am hoping Danny Welbeck might prove a decent option (already have Greenwood).

Newcastle at home is certainly as good a fixture as could wish for.

Antonio has great stats, if he can up his conversion rate then Norwich could be a great fixture for him. Haller may threaten his position though.

Spurs are absolutely awful, playing Martinez over Pope/Henderson for those that have both could be a nice little gain. By that same metric Saka and Auba could pick up returns this week.

Vardy is obvious but a double up punt could work, although I'm not sure who starts in Leicester's midfield. Barnes/Perez the more high risk/high reward options, Justin and soyuncu the safer picks but lower ceiling.

Is my team ready for this GW? No FT and 0.2m ITB
    Martinez,
    TAA, Doherty, Lascelles,
Mane (c), Bruno (vc), KDB, Mahrez, Antonio
    Rashford, Greenwood
    (Pope, Jimenez, Taylor, Robinson).
Is Jimenez --> Ings a good move for next GW? Thanks 🙂

Is anyone going without Chelsea mids for their home game with Norwich?

I am struggling to fit any in as I aim to have a front 7 of:

    KDB / Sterling / Bruno / Martial
    Vardy / Ings / Greenwood

Would have to be Vardy or Ings.

TBH, I want Vardy this week and Ings next week but would mean taking a hit.

What do people think of Martial as captain this GW in isolation and not considering if you are chasing ML?

He looked pretty disappointed that he didn't get a goal when he was subbed off, so can easily see him score this coming gw.

I'm only 5 points behind the leader in my ML. I brought in Vardy this week for a hit. Should I captain him or go with Bruno? I reckon the ML leader will go with Bruno.

Seeing people feel like they can't catch up with a 40-50pts lead, makes me more and more confident about my 100pts lead. I've overturned 200pts lead, but that was with several chips that my rival didn't have.
