Fantasy Premier League managers have now had the chance to watch Spurs on three occasions ahead of the new season – so what have we learned?

Jose Mourinho’s men come into 2020/21 with one of the most appealing set of fixtures, so interest in their attackers has been high.

Making sure we are invested in the right assets is important, so I have assessed some of the key talking points from pre-season, using some information from 2019/20 and Project Restart to back it up.

As this article uses Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout Membership package can access it in full.

    What the feels on Hazbo Kane?

    Owned him towards the end of last season and it was like the good old days. Just rattling them in. Looked very much like he's got another 200+ season in him. Doherty will improve them. There's probably better options, but when Spurs ARE rolling that Kane/Son partnership is well capable of 60-70 points in 3 games. Got that feeling about them, that first ten games is tasty, early in the season before Mourinho goes loco or locks down the team into a 100% defensive unit

      Trouble is there are other strikers who are slightly cheaper who also look nice options. Werner, ings, martial and Jimenez. With so many good premium mid options it's hard to fit harry in as well!

        I'm looking at ings, martial, Kane. Big midfield and cheap strikers isn't a template I like this year, despite it's popularity

          Yeah I agree I don't like the cheap strikers. Ings plus Werner my current choice but maybe I will stretch to kane or vardy. Aguero is a bit of a forgotten man as well.

        I'm reticent to spend on Kane the extra m's performance that Ings delivers at lower cost. Kane is the price he is for a reason. Then again we're looking at the past and not the probable.

      I like him a lot. Looking at finding a place for him. But I think I might start without and just have Son. If he starts out really hot, I have the option of like: Auba + FWD > Kane + XX.

      Really like him

      He was in fact great value in 2018/19 until he got injured in about 21/22 - matched Sterling exactly to that point around 120 points in a good season for Sterling. His failure was injury not points.

      Between him and Vardy for me likely up top. Happy to forego Werner till we know what is what.

      He is a good striker from what I've heard and scored a few goals for Spain. If he is up top instead of bamford he could net 10-15 goals. However he is untested in the prem and maybe it won't suit him. Expect price will be 6.5-7 million which could be a bargain but I won't be jumping on him till I've seen a few games.

      There is no room for bargain with Dortmund and Dortmund will need a replacement before their season starts.

      Think it is too late and UTD cannot haggle this one last minute.

      Same is happening with Havertz. His club is delaying the transfer now because they are looking for a replacement for him.

    So ... Salah & Ziyech => Fernandes & Son (0.5 upgrade to Justin)

    Salah not been looking so adngerous since re-start (although still scoring plenty of points), Auba out of position and likely to be Arsenal's main striker.

          And there's the quandary - Salah being Salah may well deliver GW1 and will therefore remain in the team.
          If that does happen, the o.5 in the bank may be blown on Ziyech to Pulisic (if he's fit and starting).

    Thoughts on ASM vs Ritchie?

    Am I overthinking it or is Ritchie a better option, free kicks, penos, corners, wanna put Ritchie in but just doesn't seem right especially after his reclassification

      He was injured quite a lot last year, so I am keeping an eye on that.

      When he was fit Ritchie played left wingback last season. Bruce seemed to trying to move to a back four, except for the last few games where it was a case of playing who was fit.

      Ritchie could be an option this season at 5.0, but I'm not sure he is nailed. ASM should be on one wing and maybe Ritchie plays on the other, but depends on where Almiron, Joelinton and Hendrick fit in.

        Dummett is available again after injury so he may start at left back. He couldn't play after lockdown as he hadn't been included in the registered squad back in January as he was "out for the season".

          United scouting since last year and he was back-up plan to Bruno Actually.

      Have thought about Ayling but it seems an extravagance. (Still in early draft I haven’t changed)

      Really really like it - just play Mitchell week 1. I’m looking at something close but Greenwood benched not Martial at the mo so more up top

          Thing about Greenwood is that he works for Pulisic once you’ve downgraded a 12.0 player to go Bruno!

              Theoretically yes. Think both Bruno and KdB are long haul picks.

              Carry some itb and you can switch in to a 12.0 if needed.

              Not wholly sold on Son but he too can become Havertz/Puli or be double switched into attack. It’s a strong price point if you have 2FTs

      Either Salah or TAA. I haven’t thought about the relative performance of defenders to other defenders and how that should influence your picks.

      In draft no captaincy makes a difference to me. This makes TAA a higher priority as he’s 4th highest scorer and best in class.
