I'm wildcarding. I had a pretty template squad, but I'm changing 13 of them. My new draft has ONE of the ten most popular owned players (Haaland), and 6 of the draft above (inc subs) It looks good - I have no concerns about deviating so far from the template.

I'm wildcarding too, feels like the right time. Window's shut, international break, fixture swings, a few issues to fix. Lots of glue guys like Archer, Areola, Mbeumo that I want to get into place, plus many changes like bringing in Son, Trippier, Hojlund. This is what I'm on atm:

      Areola
      Trippier - Chilwell - James
      Son - Rashford - Saka - Maddison - Mbeumo
      Haaland - Hojlund

      Turner - Archer - Cash - Baldock

If I can't raise enough money, maybe Botman in for Cash. James is due back this week, but I'll probably bench for Cash, depending on news. A couple of punts in there like Hojlund & James, but FPL is boring without them.

Few issues with the draft above:

      - Not clear on which of Rashford/Bruno is better pick
-Going New def but no Trippier ?
-No Son ? Potentially most explosive player
      - Sterling needs probably another gw to see if he's a good option with the fixtures
      - going Morris this far out from dgw instead of say Alvarez doesn't make sense

      1. Make FPL Casual Again
        • 7 Years

Its not even clear if New/Trippier are good otions given form to date

      2. Andy_Social
        • 13 Years

Agree with all of that except Trippier. My application of the observation that there's been a paucity of clean sheets is not to get premium defenders who might get an attacking return, but to go cheap - Botman in Toon's case, on the basis that a 4.5 with a good fixture has a high chance of equalling the score of an expensive defender most GWs. That way I focus my spending on attacking assets.

    A) Saka & 4.0 def
    B) Bruno & 4.0 def
    C) Foden & Estupinan
    D) Sterling & Estupinan

    Areola | Turner
    Chilwell | Udogie | Cash | Bell | _____
    Salah | Son | Maddison | Mbeumo | _____
    Haaland | Alvarez | Archer

It seems that it's your fluid spot midfielder in your team, could start with Foden then Diaby GW8 or Eze or Bowen if you don't like AVL

I think it’d be very unlucky for both Turner and Areola to lose their spots.

I think it’s just as likely any other say 4.5 duo to lose their spots, so worth the risk.

They need someone more defensive in the midfield 3 alongside Bellingham for balance imo, given Chilwell will be bombing forwards. The front 5 are used up with Chilwell, Maddison, Bellingham, Kane, Saka. Need a defensive 5 behind them for balance.

Given Trent pulled out, that leaves either Henderson or Phillips. So Hendo makes sense to me. Gallagher and Eze are the wrong profile of player for that position imo, they need to have the leash off and be free to attack the box.

I would have liked to see Colwill come in for Maguire, but he's been pretty good for England tbf...

      1. Piggs Boson
        • 14 Years

Which makes me question why Gallagher is in the squad over JWP... I think JWP is more suited to that positional role, and Gallagher isn't getting in ahead Bellingham or Eze...

I’d have played Tomori or Colwill over Maguire, drop Hendo, put Maddison in the hole with Rashfor wide left, Saka wide right and Kane up top. Bellingham and Rice in midfield. If that’s not defensive enough JWP or Gallagher instead of Hendo straight switch.

They had 16 shots where as West Ham only had 9. Only one shot on target for Luton, the header which got them the goal.

That's just one game though. West Ham prefer to play on the counter like we saw against Chelsea and Brighton. The top teams who are enjoy dominating possession will smash them.

True. He's basing his logic on one game . Lol. I saw a lot of Luton last season and as a Cov fan but for Hamer going off injured in the playoff final they wouldn't be in the PL

The fact very little gets updated here should be enough of a sign that it's not going to happen, but I think I get it now looking at recent weeks with stuff like betting articles. Engagement of including arguments between members, or complaints regarding betting promotions, seems to be viewed as a good thing from FFS

Being able to handle pressure is one of the most valuable attributes for international football.

That can only be tested in the big sides. Preferably playing UCL knock-out games too.

Not quite sure Maguire is a great example of "being able to handle pressure". I'm not going to lump on him as I think the treatment he's gotten has been shocking, but I can't exactly say his performances have been demonstrating the attitude of someone that hasn't been affected by pressure
