Fantasy Football Scout yearly memberships extended to the end of the season

Yearly subscribers of Fantasy Football Scout will have their memberships extended to the end of 2019/20 – whatever that date happens to be.

The Premier League recently announced that the current campaign would be postponed indefinitely, with the league’s governing body admitting that a planned resumption at the beginning of May wouldn’t happen.

As a result of the ongoing uncertainty, we have no real idea of a restart date for Fantasy Premier League, let alone an endpoint.

There is little to zero chance of the Premier League being completed by June 1, then, which is when yearly Fantasy Football Scout memberships for the 2019/20 campaign would ordinarily have expired.

However, we are pleased to confirm today that we will extend the end date of all full-season memberships until the finish of the concluding Gameweek, whenever that happens to fall.

We had previously issued an update on monthly memberships and that agreement still stands.

If you are on a rolling monthly subscription for a month that features no Premier League football, we are happy to offer a refund for the relevant period.

A refund, rather than a cancellation, means that you will not have to sign up again once the season resumes. If this is something you would like, get in touch with support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Cancelling your Scout membership will mean losing access to the Members Area, data, tools and any articles we produce behind the paywall, with the full list of benefits listed here.

Quick question please, with regards Virtual FPL, if a player is currently injured in real life - Son etc, do they start off injured in VFPL, or are all players technically fit from Virtual season start?

Thanks for this question - another question related to to this Virtual FPL:

Will every scheduled game go on as planned or is there a certain probability that each game will be cancelled meaning double gameweeks can happen later on?

I think Ragabolly said somewhere here that no blank or double GWs in VFPL.

I wonder if we’ll be lucky enough to have UK football at all before a vaccine is available...

I’d love to know what exit strategies governments are planning for when it comes to eventual justification of gradual & slight relaxation of lockdown restrictions (let alone a return to full public sporting events in a vaccine-less world)

In a vaccine-less world, they can’t really use anything other than a pre-defined level of infections & deaths that they deem “acceptable”... and there’s a fair chance that governments parties generically are not going to want to go on record as saying they consider any level of deaths “acceptable” enough to relax restrictions

A properly tested, safe Vaccine could obviously be minimum 12-18 months away... getting millions of people innoculated could be further more months heaped on top of that...

The current strategies are like putting a box on top of a deadly snake & sitting on it - it works fine short term until you get off the box again - but you can’t sit there forever

Is massive testing capacity the answer? Possibly... but it’s still letting the snake out of the box

There's a good chance Premier League won't be the first major league to try some form of return to play - Bundesliga perhaps? Possibly an opportunity to observe any precedent laid down and see how it pans out short term.

Either way, I can't see PL and other major leagues risking 'next season' with the initial trials. Having a handful of games left gives a good opportunity to test the water in a way.

Of course, one possible scenario for this season being abandoned could be following an unsuccessful return to matches and another subsequent lockdown.

Some Bundesliga clubs are actually already back in group training, albeit non-contact, so there’s hope football can be played again rather than having to wait until 2021 for the vaccine

To really understand when it’s realistic to expect similar in the U.K. though - we need to be given some context as to what are the different lockdown exit strategies being planned for (in Germany for example they are planning for immunity certificates to allow the right people to safely leave lockdown)

          https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-germany-covid-19-immunity-certificates-testing-social-distancing-lockdown-2020-3?r=US&IR=T

But that’s Germany - they are light years ahead of most other countries in the way they’ve handled (and had the health service resources to handle) things

Anthony Fauci (when he’s not being censored by Big Don) reckons that, even though re-infections have happened in other countries, the virus isn’t mutating significantly so that type of population-level immunity could help with second waves that might come later in the year

          https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/491988-fauci-recovered-coronavirus-patients-will-likely

It still all comes back to someone from the government having to go in front of the cameras though & say “we now feel it’s safe now to do X, Y, & Z, and here’s why” which is possibly not a message they’ll be queuing up to deliver given the implications in a vaccine-less world

      2. Karan14
        • 7 Years

I think we'll have to learn to live with it till a vaccine is developed unless it goes away as fast as it came.
The economic implications of lockdowns are disastrous. If the virus doesn't kill us no money could. All governments will have to lift the lockdowns sooner or later.
Football will have to come back sooner or later be it behind closed doors for the money.

Either we will lose a lot of people or a lot of money or just hope and pray this disease vanishes completely.

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 14 Years

Yep - If football is to be played before a vaccine then it’s unavoidable that a shift occurs to more of a “we must learn to live with it”,”this is now the LESSER of two evils” (versus complete economic ruin), “The cure is actually starting to become worse than the disease” type stance

Socialising that message though, and the criteria the powers that be define as being the point at which we emerge from our houses is going to introduce massive cognitive dissonance

X number of cases? Y number of deaths? Z % consecutive daily decline in infections/fatalities?

However sophisticated the measurement criteria, it still will boil down to a level of infection & death from an vaccine-less disease that has now been deemed “acceptable” enough to allow gradual roll-back of restrictions, let alone fully public sporting events etc

I preferred your Monty Python take tbh 🙂

The season is not over until any official announcement from the Premier League confirming such. (Likewise the ability to even commence next season on time, irrespective of any cancellation, is still a matter of question.)

Suggestions to the contrary are long tired and now verging on a deeply pathetic self-serving yearn. Imo 🙂

Nice pick too. I went Martial as United cover and have light forward line. We'll see how it works.
About friendlies I used mine without any problems but yesterday it was some technical problem so maybe thats the reason.

      Captain Aubameyang for me.
      Finding some 50 50s tough...
      - Salah vs Mane
      - how to cover SU at the back best
      - Kdb vs Auba
      - Sarr/Barnes vs Wood/Deeney/Ings

        For me:
        - Salah (but both will score similar long term imo)
        - I pick just attacking defs so not interested in SHU
        - Kdb vs Auba - both too expensive but if you must than Auba
        - Wood/Deeney/Ings better

      Looking at Vardy.

Bigger headache here is whether to triple up Liverpool and if so how.

Experimenting right now with Robbo TAA with Auba Mane as forward premiums. Feels thin.

Suspect way to go is to cover price points for unexpected bolter. Upside is with no price rises no one will disappear out of reach

All players fit for GW1 but there will be injuries like in real football so any player can be injured in GW1 or later on.

          Heaton (bou)
          Willems (EVE)
          Soyuncu (WHU)
          Ayew (BRI)

Not amazing but as there are no DGW's seems most sensible to go for it this week when you know there are defo no injuries/suspensions

I think ragabolly said somewhere that lineups were based on minutes played when available for selection from actual fpl this season so i'm assuming heaton is still first choice. My whole team is a bit punty with a few 'forgotten' injured in there!

That's correct, Heaton is first choice but he does have slight competition which might cause a random benching.

I think the game looks great, except for the different preseason friendlies and the 5 friendlies we all get between GW's. I don't see the need for those, we don't get them in FPL so done see the need for them in this.

The need is for managers to get familiar with the simulator since the whole game depends on how it runs games. I might decrease the number of friendlies per week to 3 once the season starts.

But those friendlies wont affect "real" games right?
If a player does well in GW1 his chances for start/another return in GW2 are a bit higher, right?
But at same time any friendlies after GW1 wont affect GW2. Is that correct?

Right, friendlies don't affect official games, but they are simulated like official games. So they give you an idea about what the game might do next, for example if Kane is injured, who would be the most likely replacement.

so for example friendly after GW5 will be based on data from those 5 games, right?

Also if a player does well in lets say 2-3 games are his chances for start/another returns later on are a bit higher?? Is that correlated?

Hi guys. Are you going with DCL in Virtual FPL , if not who's your third forward ?

DCL got sent off in the preseason game we have all got, and in the three Everton friendly's I arranged (MCI, 2 x ARS), he got 0 goals, 1 assist, 2 yellows and another red.

Those inj and cards are random imo so ignore it.
Also City and Arsenal arent easiest games but for 6,4 he is good pick imo. I got him but I know he wont score every game.
Im on 352 but if you look for cheap forward than DCL, Wood and Jota are best imo.

Didn't know DCL was on 7 yellow cards.

What happens to the threshold given everything that's going on?

Is it still 10 yellows after 32 matches or something?

Actually there will be a change with regards to the date factor, I guess they will drop that and just go with numbers rather than any date caveat.

According to the Premier League rules:

An accumulation of 10 yellow cards results in a two match suspension.
An accumulation of 15 yellow cards results in a three match suspension.
If a player reaches a total of 20 yellow cards for the season he/she is required to attend a special hearing at the FA to discuss their on-field behaviour

However, there is a concept of cut-off dates for yellow cards.

The ten yellow card count is “reset” on second Sunday in April. It means a player receiving their eleventh yellow card of the season after the second Sunday of April will not receive any ban.

It's still a 2 match ban if a player reaches 10 yellow cards before their team has completed 32 fixtures.
And a 3 match ban for any player reaching 15 yellow cards before their team has completed all their 38 fixtures.
Dates do not come into it, just the number of fixtures.

DCL is indeed on 7 yellow cards, but Everton have already played 29 matches. So he will only receive a ban for reaching 10 yellow cards if he gets 3 more yellows in Everton's next 3 matches.

Wild Rover quotes a concept that there is a concept of cut-off dates for yellow cards.
If this comes from the following link,
      http://www.ablueheart.com/premier-league-rules-for-yellow-cards-accumulation,
that link also goes on to say that "Note: These rules apply to English league cup as well. So any yellow received in the League cup will be included in this count. And vice-versa, any upcoming suspension will apply to the League cup matches as well."
The ban for reaching 5, 10, 15 or 20 yellow cards used to be based on matches in the FA Cup and League Cup as well as in the Premier League, but now it only applies to cards received in the Premier League, so I assume that that link is an old one that is now out-of-date.

Are you going with DCL in Virtual FPL , if not who's your third forward ?

DCL got sent off in the preseason game we have all got, and in the three Everton friendly's I arranged (MCI, 2 x ARS), he got 0 goals, 1 assist, 2 yellows and another red.

      deja vu
Those inj and cards are random imo so ignore it.
Also City and Arsenal arent easiest games but for 6,4 he is good pick. I got him but I know he wont score every game.
Im on 352 but if you look for cheap forward than DCL, Wood and Jota are best imo.

One thing I noticed in the Virtual FPL friendlies, Danny Ings was not starting in a few Soton matches simulated.

With Soton having a kind run of fixtures, anyone worried about Ings starting off the bench?

    1. StoichkovFPL
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 11 months ago

I had him in my first draft. He start in my friendlies but for 1 mil less other players scored same or even more so decided to go without Ings.
Also dont think he is explosive enough and BPS here works a bit diferent so one goal wont give him max baps every game imo like it was in real FPL.

    2. Ragabolly
      • 14 Years

He might get the random benching just because he didn't play all games this season when he was available. But he is of course first choice, and seems to be involved in most attacks.

Yes every injury comes with its duration, and I will also build an injury/suspensions page soon.

Coming straight to first team depends on the quality and nailed-onness of the player, as well as the form of his replacement. But you can expect the very nailed on players to be remain first choice always.

I’m assuming we won’t have any new info by then.

One thing I failed to mention earlier about Virtual FPL, there are only two players whose positions are different from real FPL:

    Fernandinho to CB
    Lundstram to CM

I had to change those two players in particular to suit how the game simulation works.
