FPL Gameweek 4: Analysis of the key underlying statistics

Our Big Numbers piece takes a look at the vast array of data available in our Premium Members’ Area and presents the eye-catching statistics that may be of interest.

Although we’re only three Gameweeks into 2020/21 and the sample pool is still small, some familiar patterns are emerging – from Mohamed Salah (£12.1m) being top of the shot count table to Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.0m) bossing the headed goal attempts column.

We’ve again run down the stand-out figures in every position for this article, as well as looking at the strengths and weaknesses of various teams to assess which Fantasy Premier League assets could shine in Gameweek 4.

thanks. i have a feeling A will be more popular but i'm really tempted by B especially as I already had Pereira in pre-WC and just like the look of him. Worried about Foden's minutes and Soucek bad fixtures

Just looking for a few more opinions here fellas.

This is how i'll look should i follow through with a -4

    Martinez
    Saiss - Robertson - James
    Trossard - Foden - Salah - KDB - Fernandes
    DCL - Jiminez
    _____________________________________
    Forster: Mitchell: Dunne: Brewster

    Look GTG?

Gonna do Son + Rodriguez >> Bruno + Trossard i reckon.
Really not feeling a good output from Hamez in this Everton team.

    Cheers guys.

Getting rid of Rodriguez now seems bad. I'm not convinced by him yet but I certainly wouldn't get rid if I had him and he still seems like he'll be good value. You can get Trossard this week and upgrade Rodriguez to Fernandez next week too (United have better fixture and Everton have Liv)

Cheers TM, i like these moves and beed start following gut more than following everyone else, even though Bruno may be popular, feel Foden and Trossard are some nice potential rank climbers 🙂

Would you do Bavies, Son and Werner to Van Dijk, Havertz and Jimenez for -4?

Not sure about Havertz and I'm not sure a -4 is needed here but I don't know the bench. You could just do 2 moves now and the 3rd next week?

Alternatives on the bench are Mitchell (vs Chelsea) and Ayling (vs City).

I have seen a lot worse -4 than that. 2 moves probably lot required anyway and Jimmy should be a good pick.
All the other options are decent even Havertz might be ok.

why are we concerned about Mahrez's minutes today and not Sterling Hames DCL etc? they also played 90 today so should all start weekend

    1. I Member
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 5 months ago

Sterling, James and DCL are clearly first choice for their teams. Mahrez is a rotation risk.

      1. F_Ivanovic
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 5 months ago

for all intents and purposes Mahrez is also first choice until Aguero and Jesus are back?

    2. We Will Klopp you
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 5 months ago

Everton don't have the options to rotate players, Sterling is unlikely to be benched given that City's strikers are injured and he is their main goal threat, Foden only played 62 mins in the cup and missed the burnley game and is Mahrez's main competiton, so makes sense that he's seen to be most at risk.

    3. Pukki Blinders
      • 4 Years

Why would Sterling/DCL be benched when they are in that sort of form and are one of their teams best players? Mahrez has always been a rotation problem

Thoughts on this WC team? Ideas appreciated!.

    Martinez
    Robbo / Saiss / Lamptey
    Salah / KDB / Hames / Barnes
    Jiminez / DCL / Ings.

    Button, Michell ,Dunne, Stephens

Only thing I'm considering is moving hames to Zaha (which frees up 0.4) then trying to squeeze 0.1 somewhere else and doing Robbo --> TAA

    1. Henryyy

and the next game vs everton. and you also think liv wont concede? i dont think is a need to have 2 liv defenders ..

              • 10 Years

And after that, Vs SHU and WHM and ful and CRP and WBA and new and so on...

As I said, it's for more than one week. And Everton Vs Liverpool have hardly been high scoring in recent years, I guess last 2-3 games have been 0-0 or something like that, so CS Vs them is also possible.

It's fine to not have double Liverpool defense but I can understand the urge to pick them for 10-15 GWs period and use transfers in attack rather than defense.

If they are your 4/5th defenders, then it shouldn't be an issue. I guess they are atleast nailed for 3-4 GWs.

It's your choice mate, not saying that Leeds is easy but City will attack like crazy and perhaps KDB will bag a free kick goal or penalty.

I have Jimenez and Saiss but sad to tell you that if you believe in stats, check out :

              3 years, 5 months ago

i'm still convinced Fulham is the whipping boy this season, I only underline the fact that with goal attempt of Wolves so low, they probably not gonna haul and even if they win like 3-0, the points will be spread out.

I overestimated Auba to bag a hattrick in the opening week while he only got 1 goal against FUL so hopefully Jimi bag a goal or two (cause I have him as well) but chances of KDB outscore him could be better

Are you captaining Jimi against FUL too ?

Start Bamford or James this weekend?

Also who to captain out of the below?

    A) DCL

    B) Salah

    C) KDB

    Steering towards DCL at present

    1. Nightrain_
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 5 months ago

I'm thinking Salah definitely not since AVL is a different team right now with Martinez defend their fortress and they're resilient at home

DCL could be gold with his hattrick yesterday and perhaps should be on pen duty to increase his goal tally but I reckon with KDB only play 60+ min and they need to bounce back hard, perhaps KDB is the better choice

How many players would you change with the wildcard? 5 or more, probably worth it.

      No need to WC.

      Son to Barnes?
      Or when is Pulisic back?
I also think Havertz will be good, but maybe best to wait 5 games or so.

Good team and I'd suggest no moves - bank the FT so you have 2 after the IB. Werner still worth another week, IMO. Son will be back after the IB and he then has 4 great fixtures. If you have to do something then Vardy.

Agree on Son considering the fixtures. Werner only 1 assist for 3 games, bit of a waste for 9.4. Banking a transfer for IB seems a good idea though there is a risk of holding on to him.

    How’s this Wildcard...?

    Mendy
    Robbo / Castagne / Lamptey
    Salah / KDB / Fernandes / Pereira
    DCL / Wilson / Mitrovic

    Button / Soucek / Cooper / Ferguson

Could possibly do with being a bit stronger up top, but I feel they should tick over quite well....
