Joe and Az are joined by the FPL Fan Show host Conor, aka FPL Prince, to look ahead to Gameweek 12 and assess the key developments impacting on Fantasy Premier League managers.

On last week’s episode, the Scoutcast crew pondered how to fit in all of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£12.3m), Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (£10.9m).

All three players delivered last time out but so too did the well-owned Tottenham partnership of Son Heung-min (£9.6m) and Harry Kane (£10.9m), who combined for double-digit hauls apiece once again.

Now, Az, Joe and Conor try to work out how FPL managers can squeeze in as many of this quintet as possible.

Cheap differentials in defence are likely to be needed. Our trio look at the merits of some of the highest-scoring bargain-basement options at the back and consult the Premium Members Area statistics to try to unearth some hidden gems.

Sacrifices are also likely to be needed in the search for multiple pricy picks. Almost 80,000 FPL managers have already severed ties with Everton’s sensational 11-goal striker Dominic Calvert Lewin (£8.0m) but Toffees fan Conor is certainly not keen on waving goodbye to his team’s star man.

Elsewhere, fixtures are frisked, transfers and captaincy plans for Gameweek 12 are revealed, and the crew’s very mixed fortunes in Gameweek 11 are reviewed, which proves an uncomfortable experience for Az.

There’s also the small matter of a Double Gameweek to look forward to in the New Year, due to West Ham’s FA Cup commitments.

Do you think it is worth next week doing:

Vardy & Grealish to Wilson & Bamford for free?

I have a lot of value tied up in Grealish and he hopefully has a double GW on the horizon which is making me doubt it. No Bruno has hurt me though a few times this season, and obviously after defeat last night for Utd morale will be low. Will see how they do on the weekend.

Already have KDB, Son, and Salah.

I'd probably do it, does it have do be Wilson though? You can always get Grealish back when his doubles are confirmed.

No it could be Watkins or Adams would only have 6.7 to spend. Just like Wilson's fixtures.

I already have DCL & Bamford.

I have Adams as I could only afford him as a Striker when I did Ziyech & Kane > Salah & Adams on Sunday morning.

Already regretting Adams to be honest, as feedback from the match on Monday was that he didn't really seem to do a lot.

If you've not yet done it, I'd stay away from him. Wilson is a much better choice if you already have DCL and Bamford.

I'll be trying to get Wilson in for Adams over the next GW - hopefully I don't have other fires to put out!

Yeah I will be rolling my FT this week so will not make the moves until next week.

I'm not sold on Adams, Ings is back now though but not sure if that will have a positive or negative affect on him.

              Good luck!

I don't like selling Grealish at all.

But, I'm also not a fan of any team that doesn't have Bruno. So, yeah, on reflection it's probably worth it

What would be your preference out of these two for next GW?

    A) Vardy (C) vs BHA + Jota vs ful

    B) Salah (C) vs ful + Bamford vs WHU -4

So basically, should I do Vardy + Jota > Salah + Bamford for a hit?

    1. JBG

I did B, but with Wilson in instead of Bamford(have him). And Salah is now my C.

Which combo look essential for coming weeks?
    1. Son+ Wilson
    2. Grealish + Ings?

Tough question and having the same dilemma over Grealish and Son. I prefer Ings over Wilson and Grealish has the 'better' fixtures so probably 2

    A. Justin/Cancelo and Grealish to max 4.1/4.8def and Salah -4
    B. Son to Salah - WC16 and bring Son back in

PP for Grealish and Son are 7.1 and 9.0 respectively.

    1FT 4.3itb
    Martinez
    Chilwell Justin Cancelo
    Son KDB Bruno Grealish
    DCL Bamford Watkins
    (Peacock Ayling Taylor Bissouma)

i sold kane to jesus last week (no that didn't work out)
sold him to fund salah this week

Feels like changing between playing 4 mids/3 fwds and 5 mids/2 fwds nearly every 2nd week.

Right now the latter seems most popular.

What do you think long term?

    1. Tonyawesome69

Maximise on the premium options in mid and cheap forwards - 352

I’m covering every option. Can play 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 whenever I need to.

    3. DARK SIDE OF THE LOON
      • 9 Years

I was playing 3 4 3 since GW 3. now changed it to 3 5 2. For me fixtures will dictate formation. In GW 14 I will go back to 3 4 3 for example.

    4. thegaffer82
      • 14 Years
      5 years, 7 hours ago

3-5-2 is the best formation in my opinion.

But, with the caveat that anybody who is planning a 3-5-2 with a 5.5-6.5 MFer in there, those people may as well go 3-4-3 with a 5.5-6.5 forward instead (Bamford, Watkins, Adams, Wilson).

My cheapest MFer will be Grealish so it doesn't apply to me

    5. JONALDINHO

352 long term. All the premium midfielders look better than the premium forwards and I don’t fancy 3 budget strikers at all.

      Really tough.

Obviously Son is better, and is good value for money. But, Grealish is like a big hitter who is even cheaper.

My goal is to have a MF of; (I'm 3 transfers away!)

      Salah - KDB - Bruno - Son - Grealish

2FTs and 1.2 ITB. Ziyech must go and Bruno is the only viable option to get in midfield, but very hard to generate money for him.

    A) Ziyech -> Jota (hope he will have minutes)
    B) Ziyech -> Pulisic (eased in?)
    C) Ziyech + PVA -> Bruno + Douglas (don't fancy non playing bench on festive period though)
    D) Ziyech + DCL-> Bruno + Adams/Watkins
    E) Ziyech + DCL + PVA -> Bruno + Wilson + 4.9 (-4) (would have done this move is Dier would have been 4.9 still..)
    F) Any other

    Martinez
    Chilwell, Coufal, Dallas
    Salah, KDB, Son, Grealish, Ziyech*
    DCL, Bamford

    4.0, Lamptey, PVA, Brewster

You can hardly go wrong with Jota but a lot of managers don't understand that. As soon as he doesn't start a game they talk about needing to get rid. 😕

He doesn't NEED to start every game and it doesn't matter in the slightest if he gets some 1-pointers. This isn't a 1-week game! If he were a regular starter at Liverpool he'd be a 10m player. Liverpool have the best attack in the PL and no more CL to concern them. Jota is a goalscorer and will score plenty enough when he plays to compensate for the reduced minutes - because none of them will play 90 in every game, not even Salah.

A 7m player needs to be averaging something around 5 points per game to be delivering good value. That's 50 points over 10 weeks. It is barely conceivable that Jota won't do that; my estimate before I got him in was that he'd need to average 45-60 minutes per game to hit that level and it's hard to see Klopp not using him at least that much.

Which is why I'd say that you can hardly go wrong (unless he picks up an injury or something but that applies with anyone).

I'd suggest Ziyech & DCL >> Jota and Ings.

Jota isn’t first choice. He’ll be used as an impact sub getting max 30mins a game with the odd start here and there

But he's good enough to play x% of games so salah and mane and the other non scoring guy can actually get a rest during the packed program.
I think x is high enough to punt on

If you think so. I don't.

He is 1 of 4 now in the way Klopp talks of him (and in terms of performances) and at least equal to Firmino within that. Sometimes Klopp will play all 4, sometimes he'll rest one of them. I'd expect Jota to play the least minutes of the 4 (or maybe similar to Firmino) but that's still going to be more than 30 minutes per game.

You are obviously a Liverpool fan so perhaps you know better than me. It's also possible that you are too close to the club and the players you have formed a sympathy for over the years to see change when it happens.

A similar thing happened with me as a Chelsea fan - I couldn't believe that James would supplant Azpi as first choice RB, partly because I know how immense Azpi has been over the years and how good a player he still is. But I was wrong, because I was too close to the club to see it. A mate, who is an Ajax fan, told me it was so at at the start of the season start he was right.

          We'll see. 🙂

Best Ziyech replacement for -4. 9.5 to use.

    Kdb - Salah - Grealish - Klich
    Bamford - Adams - Jesus

Or should I just bench him

It is brave, but would involve quite a bit of restructuring and I think you have a good team.
If you just want Liverpool coverage you could do Alzate > Jota and DCL/Bamford > bench fodder
If you want Salah gonna have to lose one of your big hitters

I guess you could do that if Wilson isn't playing, I would try to avoid having money stuck in defence since it will be harder to get back the money afterwards. Pool still haven't convinced me defensively.

Thoughts on the below moves? I'm not set on them, would love some feedback? I'm chasing in my ML and trying to look for differentials as teams are too similar. Thanks and GL

    Squad: 2FTs 1.0 ITB
    Mcarthy Forster
    Chillwell Cresswell Lamptey (Kilmann Neco)
    KDB Bruno Ziyech Grealish (Bissouma)
    Vardy Bam DCL

    A. Ziyech / Vardy / DCL to Salah / Ings / Giroud or Wilson -4
    B. Ziyech / Grealish / Vardy to Salah / Pulisic / Watkins - 4

I honestly wouldn't worry about differentials at this point.

Concentrate fully on getting the most points for your team.

Gw35 onwards you can think about differentials if need be

        Of course it's a choice.

If I want Salah il have to sell Vardy, upgrade Jota and have Brewster on the bench.

Go for Son instead il upgrade Neto and sell Vardy for Wilson and keep Jota. Have Kdb + Bruno

    Konsa Chilwell Taylor Tierney Justin
    KDB Son Bruno Jota Bissouma
    Kane DCL Bamford
    0.5m itb., 2 free transfers

    I need Salah.

    A) Jota+Kane > Salah+Welbeck?? (forward under 5.7m)
    B) Son+Kane > Salah+Wilson/Richarlison (forward under 8.2m - 0.1m to Ings :()
    C) forget Salah: Kane+Taylor > Ings+TAA/Robertson

We have a similar front line, (i have grealish over bis), and the only route to salah I'm considering would be A -kane and jota.
However, I compare kane to salah, and they look roughly comparable, and I am losing jota for bench fodder.

Everyone will suggest A or B, but i can't bring myself to lose kane, until /if spurs start losing consistently, or salah consistently outscores kane by a jota margin

I was all set on Ziyech and Vardy to Watkins and Mo(c) but figured this move is better right for a hit?
