    My theory: Salah gets two consecutive starts vs Fulham and Spurs, maybe even both 90 minutes, a then full rest vs Palace.

          It does if you’ll rest him v Fulham, needs to maintain sharpness and match fitness which will only start to drop after around 7-10 days + so this is the perfect time to play and then rest him from spurs or just play 30 mins against Fulham

          Unless you're planning on benching him against Fulham, in which case benching him tonight wouldn't make sense as you'd be benching him back to back.

      Nah,If i was Klopp i would take the chance to rest him in the easier Fulham game and save him for the two other games where he would be needed to break down the defenses of Spurs and Palace.

      We all know what Jose is about but Palace have impressed me too this season with what looks to me like a very organized and well drilled defense.

      I really can't understand klopp s thinking re Salah this evening.
      He complains constantly about players getting too much game time then when he has a chance to rest him he let's him play 100 minutes.
      Takes Origi of who hardly ever plays.
      Even if he isn't starting on Sunday why flog him tonight.
      Would love to know his thought process.

        If Salah is rested against Fulham he needs as many minutes tonight as possible to keep that match sharpness. Jota probably needed mins too as he hasn’t had many mins recently. That’s why Origi was taken off over them

          This, it’s pretty simple, he won’t sit out 2 in a row because he will lose fitness and begin to regress so if he was to rest against Fulham he needed minutes tonight to maintain that

      I triple captained Aguero after the restart last year. Home games against Arsenal and Burnley. He played 10 minutes against Arsenal and lasted 45 v Burnley. He got me two assists for a total of 8 points. Felt completely shafted. But I'm willing to go back there at the earliest opportunity.

        Think about it. When has Salah ever been benched in the past? It almost never happens unless he is injured or when he had covid. He's too good to be benched.

        Mane probably. Same fixture, certain to start, wouldn't be a shock if he outscores Salah in an individual GW anyway.

        Salah obviously the better pick all things being equal but all things clearly ain't equal.

        I'm a Spurs fan. Was really happy when we signed him. He hasn't looked great even when he's played though. Aurier has been excellent lately and it's his place to lose. Doherty probably is never going to look as good in a back 4 compared to wing back.

      Last season a lot of people here were very confident that Salah was gonna be benched vs Burnley and he ended up playing 90 minutes. Klopp said several times that Salah is extremely fit and he has played back to back 90 minutes every 3 days before.

      His only benchings last season came due to injury issues (excluding final match of the season in which youngsters/reserves played)

        I agree. But now every non salah owner will come and say that spurs is only a few days away so surely would be rested. And I'm not saying they're wrong but we're just giving information that suits our needs. We just don't know what'll happen.

        This is a much more compressed and demanding season though (as Klopp has repeatedly pointed out) and in Jota you have a better quality alternative than was present previously, in-form and fresh.
