We continue to assess the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Gameweek 26 in our Scout Notes series.

Here, we focus on Nottingham Forest’s entertaining 2-2 draw with Everton.

The numbers and graphics you see in this article are taken from our Premium Members Area, where you can access Opta player and team data from every single Premier League fixture.

IN-FORM JOHNSON

Brennan Johnson’s (£5.9m) brace made it a ninth successive home match without defeat for Nott’m Forest, as they twice came from behind to earn a draw at The City Ground.

The 21-year-old was excellent, finding the net with two of his four efforts on goal and going close to a hat-trick late on.

Johnson is now up to seven attacking returns from Gameweek 17 onwards – among all FPL forwards, only Erling Haaland (£12.2m), Harry Kane (£11.7m) and Ollie Watkins (£7.3m) have more.

Above: Forwards sorted by attacking returns since the World Cup

Nott’m Forest’s fixtures aren’t great, but they do have a match in Blank Gameweek 28 and follow it up with a very appealing Double Gameweek 29 against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United, so interest in Johnson could pick up.

FOREST HARD TO BEAT AT HOME

Nott’m Forest haven’t lost at home in the league since Gameweek 8, a run that has seen them take 17 points from 27.

They have also scored in 12 consecutive home league matches since a 2-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 4, with Newcastle United’s defenders next to visit The City Ground in Blank Gameweek 28.

GameweekOpponentScore
26Everton2-2
24Man City1-1
22Leeds1-0
20Leicester2-0
18Chelsea1-1
16Crystal Palace1-0
15Brentford2-2
13Liverpool1-0
10Aston Villa1-1

Steve Cooper made just one change from the heavy 4-0 defeat at West Ham United and it came at right-back, with Serge Aurier (£4.4m) returning a week earlier than expected in place of Neco Williams (£3.9m).

Fellow full-back Renan Lodi (£4.3m) also recovered to start, and despite conceding two goals and receiving a yellow card, picked up a bonus point.

GRAY AND DOUCOURE ON TARGET

Everton picked up their first point on the road under Sean Dyche and scored multiple goals in a match for the first time since Gameweek 13.

In the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m), Demarai Gray (£5.3m) led the line, with Neal Maupay (£5.9m) and Ellis Simms (£4.5m) named among the substitutes.

And it was Gray who put Everton ahead, with a terrific spot kick after Dwight McNeil (£5.1m) was fouled.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.3m) was also on the scoresheet from a set-piece. Three of Everton’s four goals under Dyche have now come from dead-ball situations.

After the match, an upbeat Sean Dyche said:

“I’m pleased, we’re doing the right things and there’s been real commitment to the cause since I joined. We got in so many good positions today. We know that they have a good record here too. It’s just the details now, we’ve got to stamp out the mistakes but we defended well and countered today. There was a lot of plusses about the performance. We know that we have to win games but you have to re-start and this showed a step forward. This was a really good away performance. It’s a great building block to carry on the journey with.” – Sean Dyche

Still, Everton remain winless in their last nine Premier League away matches, with just two wins in their last 30 fixtures on the road.

Up next for the Toffees is a Premier League home game against Brentford in Double Gameweek 27, before travelling to Chelsea in Blank Gameweek 28.

Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m), meanwhile, missed out because of illness, with Ben Godfrey (£4.3m) deputising at left-back.

I’m really tempted to keep them now and just FH in 28. Wanted to save it but taking out Darwin and Salah for Maddy and Watkins seems…. Crazy.

No WC left for me. Which is why I wanted to keep free hit.

Could still drop Darwin and keep Salah perhaps

Still very tempted to save and go with 9/10 players in 28.

Just not sure if playing free hit later is of a bigger benefit

The funny thing is people will now completely rip up their plans to keep LIV assets and use FHs off the back of this result.

    4. Philosopher's Stones

I understand people have bills to pay, so content creators making it their side hustle is understandable. But when they claim their word is gold and some gullible people fall for them, that's where the dislike in general boils down from imo.

      1. DMP
        • 10 Years
        2 years, 9 months ago

Cmon. Didn’t heard anyone of them saying that.

They often said it’s team dependent.

I listened to all of them and didn’t wildcard.

I don't listen to any of them anymore, but used to do so back in the day a bit. There was an air of "we can see the future" vibes to how they present themselves. Ofc they don't say it downright, except a few creators who do in fact say sth similar of that effect especially if they're having a great season.

I've never seen any content creators claim their way is 100% the way to go...if anything they always say its team dependent

Plus why does it bother you what other people do with their teams...you do you

        1. Philosopher's Stones
          • 5 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

Probably some fault of the gullible crowd as well then. Wouldn't have bothered me much but people following them blindly has seen templates made, EOs creeping in and so on. It's affecting the game as a whole.

          1. Shultan
            • 9 Years
            2 years, 9 months ago

If content creators didn't exist do you realy think players like haaland, Saka, rashford, kane would have lower EO this season?

The reason why they're so highly owned is because people can see they scoring most points!

            1. Philosopher's Stones
              • 5 Years
              2 years, 9 months ago

Not talking about the big guns like Saka, Haaland. There are punts who are becoming templates and its becoming a bit boring, is all.

Know a few people personally who don't even watch the final scores, let alone the games anymore. Just log onto twitter, copy a few moves and see green arrows week in week out. Its killing the joy of the competition for me personally.

If you had a great week without a WC well done. Sticking with Liverpool guys was a brave but good call.

If you took the WC and had a bad week hard luck, see if you get some points back over a longer period than a week.

Whichever road you are at I will see you after GW38 - because that rank is the only one that matters.

To me it's about confidence coupled with FPL ability. I'm not the best FPL player, but usually ends up in between 20k to 60k, but that covid season i had a horrible one with 1.5 m and now likewise.
When your doing well your confidence follows, when you not, whatever move you make it's not working, and that's b cause you doubt yourself and then you don't see clearly. Because to now when to be aggressive and stubborn and timing is a consequence or dictated by how confident you are/confidence level.

let's be honest, if you're an engaged manager, you will do your research which includes visiting this site or Twitter.
The information available is coming from FPL managers who have good historical FPL ranks which is too powerful not to influence your decision making.
In FPL a lot of your decisions will be 50-50 calls and you absorb content to help you make an informed decision. What do you do? not read FPL content because Salah had an unexpectedly great gameweek?

      Salah - Mitoma (c) - Saka - Rashford

      Salah now top scoring midfielder.

Only behind Kane and Haaland overall.

That was a really bad gw for me.
      Wildcarded .

Brought in Sanchez, Royal ,Maddison and benched Mitoma, sold Gakpo and Darwin.

Didn't work out but hey it's only a game and I'm gonna spend rest of my nite with my gf.

      Good luck.

But if he had stopped, then you wouldn't have been informed about his evening plans.

I have to share this FPL story here, cos nobody else in my household could give a monkeys about fantasy football…
On Saturday morning I took my lad to footy and planned to watch him while I sorted my wildcard team out.
I ended up having to be linesman and got lost in the game and my role. Totally forgot my FPL team, and the game finished at 11!
I was gutted by Saturday night when I had missed out on Mitoma, Estupinan & had the likes of Nketiah still in my team.
Fast forward to tonight, and I’ve still got Gakpo & Salah and my massive red has turned into a green.
      Feeling very lucky right now!
