0.1 ITB and only 1FT, (can't get to Doughty from Gusto)

    A. Palmer & Gusto
    B. Barkley & Gusto
    C. Barkley & Doughty (-4)
    D. Hold this week

Both players will likely play this week.

    1. mwa1t
      • 4 Years

B or C short term. Neither play in 26 though, and you'd want Palmer back for the rest of the season presumably. Tough one - maybe B and then Palmer back in for Barkley in a few weeks

  5. mwa1t

Reposting bc bottomed. Any thoughts appreciated. Current team:

    Dubravka
    Porro Estupinan Zinch
    Saka KDB Palmer Neto
    Watkins Alvarez Haaland

    Areola Gordon Branthwaite Baldock

I'm thinking Palmer -> Jota this week so I have a LIV player for the doubler, then Porro -> Trippier next week to get an extra player for BGW 26.

Any thoughts? Don't have a clue what i'll do after 26 when I'd like to get Salah and Son in. Ideally I'd not lose Palmer too, but I think in the short term Jota is a better option.

    Cheers

I wouldn't be prioritising Trippier for 26 unless you really want him longer-term & won't be WCing soon after. The Arsenal game could be messy on current form, and the only standout fixture really (before 30) is Palace in 29. Maybe a Wolves defender?

      1. mwa1t
        • 4 Years
        1 year, 10 months ago

Yeah, the Trippier thinking is more to get a player who doesn't blank in for one who does. Might consider other options there. Wolves defender is a good shout but I had Ait Nouri earlier in the season and despite his role his final ball is awful, plus I have Neto already. Maybe it's time for Ballon D'awson

        1. Hairy Potter
          • 10 Years

Yeah, Ait-Nouri gets some great positions, but also not convinced of his ability. Might be one to watch in case he shows something in the next few GWs.

The Palmer ones a difficult one eh.
I get the thinking to use a transfer wisely on a player that’s going to blank and has difficult fixtures coming up.
      I’m thinking about it myself.
Why not, do it n hope Palmer doesn’t haul

I'm considering selling Trippier in GW26 to help fund getting Watkins back. Might go for Pau Torres.

        • 4 Years

Torres in an interesting shout. Villa will improve when he's back and he's got set piece threat and even assist potential. Moreno has a much higher upside if you want a Villa defender but is a rotation risk when Digne is back, whereas Torres is nailed

I think I'll definitely need to filter out the noise when the template WC week is identified. Last year I stuck to my guns and didn't play my WC when others reacted to that Spurs FA cup result. I played it later and was able to make some substantial OR gains. Maybe I was lucky that the FOMO picks didn't all pay off. I also seemed to enjoy that period more than many who seemed to be trapped into a plan that someone else had written for them.

    1. mwa1t

WC are the most fun part of the game and give by far the biggest opportunity to improve your rank. I used it late last year and had a blast the last 6/7 weeks

    2. Sharkytect
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 10 months ago

Same. Last year I made huge gains over a load of people by delaying my wildcard by just one week. The influencers were in agreement that week x was the week to wildcard because it gave you another week's worth of transfer ahead of some upcoming doubles, which in itself was terrible logic. That one week delay revealed that Sanchez was dropped as Brighton number 1, and a couple of injuries occurred, meaning that it was much more effective ignoring the people who write these articles!

      Work out your own plan.

CC’s always have the same team (mostly) hence the WC group think consensus. If that week happens to be the best one for your team as well then use it IMO

    Foster to Darwin

Has anyone else tried comparing a WC27 with WC30? I don't think there's all that much I'd do differently. Maybe there's a bit of a fixture swing for Villa but I can't really see myself going heavy on Villa in 27 - think Watkins gets edged out by Haaland/Solanke/Adebayo anyway. I'd be going very heavy on Spurs either week. Think I would probably only have Haaland & Salah from MCI/LIV in either too, and to me it seems something of an advantage to strip back on the likes of Jota, Darwin, KDB after 25/6 anyway

    1. aapoman
      • 12 Years
      1 year, 10 months ago

I'm already quite loaded on Villa and Spurs so for me WC 30/31 makes more sense so I can commit to bgw29 and then get the players I don't want out. If you want to get rid of Jota and Darwin after the double why not just WC in 26? We can already quite well predict which fixtures will be blanks in 29 so if I was choosing to WC earlier it'd be in 26.

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years

My current team is quite easy to deadend into a strong lineup for 26 for -4 though. And I want to redistribute funds toward Salah & Son

    2. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

I should maybe caveat this by saying that the WC27 is planned in conjunction with FH29 though

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 6 Years

Surely WC27 should allow you to save FH for 34/37

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years
          1 year, 10 months ago

In theory yes, but skewing it towards BRE/WHU/AVL for 29 doesn't seem the best setup for WC27 overall - e.g. if you put Toney & Watkins up top, you're missing out on the BOU/LUT DGW

    3. Hairy Potter
      • 10 Years

Haven't really looked at WC30 yet. I think I'm aiming to get to GW27 and then see if I want to WC then or save for a bit later. I don't have my FH, GW29 is going to have a big bearing on my plans.

If it's minutes you're worried about I don't think there's an issue there with Trent. Even if he does get rotated (unlikely) his ceiling is far higher

Slightly worried about his early substitution last week along with the emergence of Bradley. Will wait and see if Klopp gives anything away but I do agree about his ceiling being higher.

Yeah that was surprising. But I think it's a one off. Trent of course still a massive part of the team and if they do change it up with Bradley/Gomez, Trent can always move into midfield

Is this good enough cover for dgw25? Haaland TC, Foden, TAA, Doughty and Ederson. Not sure it makes sense for me to get Liverpool attackers since I'm already thin on players for bgw26. With the above players I can manage bgw26 without hits and be very well setup for dgw28 and bgw29 with future transfers.

Not guaranteed but I feel like I'm well set up for the next few weeks that I'm happy to deadend into a GW30 WC. Would be surprised if I use it earlier, later could be possible but I left it very late last year and it didn't turn out massively useful then (although a few punts like Porro eventually helped me win my ML on the last day)

    Dubravka
    Gvardiol. Bell. Porro. TAA
    Foden. Saka. Jota. Palmer

Hmmm, Utd with 9 goals in their last 3 League games + Garnacho with 2 himself last week
I was leaning towards the other 2, hard decision
