Probably after GW29 but it's possible that we will get an announcement earlier than that if the plan is to move the GW34 weekend postponements to later that GW, which would have the knock-on effect off all GW29 postponements (which will be known in GW27) being move to DGW37.

    1. x.jim.x
      • 11 Years

I assume they just total the 'GC' column for your starting XI, so in your case it would only be 1 because Saka was subbed before Newcastle scored.

        • 7 Years

I believe so - the rule wording is quite ambiguous, but that makes sense to me. Like last week, I had Foden, KDB and Haaland so my total GC from them would be 3.

Re: Son for Nate and other people not quite sold yet, I think there's a lot to like about going for him.

    Here's why I did KdB > Son.

    1. Great fixtures. Spurs have amazing fixtures all the way until GW33. He has a fixture in 29 and even if you decide to FH that week (which I'm currently planning to), the fixtures around the blank are great. If you don't plan to FH in 29, even more reason to pick him up.
    2. Spurs attack has been outstanding this year. They are the only team to score in every PL game I believe. Maddison is also back now to supply assists.
    3. Son has fantasy pedigree. He's one of the most clinical finishers in the PL (probably the world as well). He might not have done much against Wolves in his last appearance, but they are a team in great form so I wouldn't rule him out based on just that one performance.
    4. He scored well from the LW before going away to the Asian Cup. There are concerns that Richarlison playing up top affects his performance, but he managed 3g/3a in the 5 games they played together since Richarlison became a starter playing up top.
    5. He's on penalties. Nice little bonus there.

I think he's just a really solid pick and the sooner you move on him, the sooner you can capitalize on the good run of games. Perhaps KdB > Son would be better timed next week if you believe KdB will dismantle United but over the next 5 weeks I'm confident Son outscores him and getting a staple player like Son in now allows me to focus on other weaker areas of my team going into DGW28 and the blank.

Would argue that his good fixtures go up to the end of the season really. That run of Newcastle - City - Arsenal - Liverpool stinks of goals.

I wouldn't say no-brainer because there is concern that KdB hauls this week. But I made the move to avoid the price drop and because come GW28 I'll want to ship at least one of my 3 City attackers might as well do it this week.

        1. Sgt Frank Drebin
          • 9 Years

Heavily team dependant, but for 28 you'd probably focus on Bournemouth players. I'd do the move now if I could. Think Son is a clear upgrade from KDB, mainly because of fixtures, xMin, goalscoring potential and being on pens.

      2. x.jim.x

Only the 2 goals and 4 assists in his last 3 games against United - we're much worse this season too.

          • 8 Years

Do you mean home PL games? - in the last 12 matches between City and United (including cups) since the start of 2020, KDB has only scored 2 goals (in the 4-1 win on 6/3/22). Don't know how many assists

          1. x.jim.x
            • 11 Years
            1 year, 9 months ago

I was just doing last 3 PL games but since Ten Hag has been charge:

            PL 22/23 (H) - 2 assists
            PL 22/23 (A) - 1 assist
            FA Cup 22/23 - 2 assists
            PL 23/24 (A) - missed through injury

The 2 goals I counted came from the game you highlighted, but Rangnick was in charge then. They put 6 past us last time at the Etihad and they could double it if they felt like it this weekend.

I don't disagree on most points but I still don't really know if it warrants the amount of attention the move seems to be getting especially with Palace being very hard to gauge right now. Richarlison should make more sense given he's at CF, in good form and cheaper. Feels like some are looking at the money they have left with Salah possibly out and wanting to lose KDB and preferring Son given he's a higher price. Spurs have had 1 penalty all season too so I wouldn't place a huge amount of value on that

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 15 Years

Richarlison is a good pick too. Him and Son played 5 games together before the Asian Cup from GW16-20

        Richarlison - 5 goals
        Son - 3 goals, 3 assists

It's fine to go for Rich but I do prefer Son because of pens and because he has better mins. Richarlison seems to get subbed more frequently with Son on the pitch since Son can shift uptop. He's been subbed off in every game he's started with Son since GW16.

I agree. Son is still a bit of a punt at this time. Palace are potentially going through a 'new manager bounce' and I'd be surprised if many feel that Villa away is a great fixture at the moment. Both are competing for 4th spot. Then they blank.

I do get the need to move KDB on though.

Sorry, you're right, they don't blank so I can see the appeal for a non-hitter

I don't see Villa away being an appealing game for Spurs at all, let alone Son.

Their home record is relatively strong and they beat Spurs in the return fixture.

Could easily get Son, especially with the uncertainty around Salah, and generally agree just really find it hard to fit him in: Saka/Foden/Richa/Bailey/Hwang - Richa to Son sounds a bit sideways and I have to bench one mid every week anyway to field Haaland/Watkins/Solanke up front.

Clubs are free to tell their supporters at the start of the season that they know they've broken the rules and expect to get hit with a points deduction

Everton should be thankful that they are going to pay the price this season and not next

Everton have had their points deduction reduced from 10 points to six on appeal, the Premier League have confirmed.

As a result, Sean Dyche's side move up to 15th, five points clear of the relegation zone.

The Toffees were initially docked 10 points after being found to have breached the Premier League's financial rules.

English top-flight clubs are permitted to lose £105m over three years, and an independent commission found Everton's losses to 2021-22 amounted to £124.5m.

The punishment was the biggest sporting sanction in the competition's history.

A Premier League statement said: "Everton FC appealed the sanction imposed against it on nine grounds, each of which related to the sanction rather than the fact of the breach, which the club admitted.

"Two of those nine grounds were upheld by the Appeal Board, which has substituted the original points deduction of 10 for six."

      1. HashAttack
        • 8 Years
        1 year, 9 months ago

So we are none the wiser why the original deduction was 10 points or why it is now 6 points

Is it now a blanket six points no matter how much a team loses?

I'd prefer it if they have a fixed tariff - e.g. 2 or 3 points from every £10 million excess loss

Next to no hope for the bottom two now unless there's a miraculous change in fortunes, much harder job for Luton now too especially given their good patch ended fairly swiftly

There was little hope for them anyway before this.

Unless Forest get a massive points deduction in the next few weeks I can’t see any of the 3 promoted teams staying up.

This might be the worst trio of teams ever to come up from the Championship.

The gap between Championship and PL is getting wider every year, especially since covid there are a lot of teams that have had to rely on loans in promotion years and then find they either A) have to spend promotion money just on holding onto those players long-term, or B) have to allow better players to go back to their parent clubs and try to find able replacements elsewhere for markups

excellent - still feel harsh & if any points deductions should be before the new season starts

Its for breaking the rules over the 3 seasons before the current one starts, I don't see any reason why the punishment should wait until next season

Yes chances of the three clubs promoted to the PL last season being relegated and replaced by the three who went down last season looking more and more likely.

The law of averages says it’s going to happen at some point, so this may well be the season it happens.

Everton's "first" deduction reduced to six points.
They still have a further case to be adjudicated. And most likely another points deduction this season, along with Forest.

It would be very disruptive to announce further points deductions so late in the season.
It would be better to announce the punishment before the start of next season, and for any deductions to be from next season's points rather than from this season's.
But in my opinion it would be fairer to impose embargoes on signing new players instead, until they have got their finances in order.
And that should apply to Man City too.
They should also do something about Chelsea. How can it be fair that they are allowed to spend billions by offering artificially long contracts while other clubs are restricted in what they can spend without being punished?
And there should also be a ban on loaning players to other clubs in the same division so that they can play against their parent club's rivals but not against the parent club.

Sorry but I don't have much sympathy, we had to sell a lot of good players to keep within the rules, why should other teams get away with it?

Not sure how Spurs only have had 1 penalty from 920 touches in the box - The other teams with just 1 penalty are Bournemouth (686), NFO (551) and Burnley (492)

Chelsea are an outlier - the most penalties,8, from just 755 TIB

Arsenal (8 from 1049), MCI (5 from 1027), Liverpool (7 from 928), BHA (5 from 837) and Newcastle (5 from 746) - are the only sides given 5 or more penalties

Postecoglu likes his forwards in particular to use as few touches as possible so I'd imagine that's a significant part of it, yes you have players like Maddison, Son, Udogie and Porro looking to drive into the box but the aim from there seems to be to create a chance - and take it - as quickly as possible, instead of trying to overplay or take extra touches trying to dribble past players

Thanks - Spurs also have conceded the most penalties, just to rub it in. (Not sure how to find touches in own box by opposition)

The one penalty was against Newcastle when Spurs were already 3-0 up

Does Newcastle usually play a high line? Haven't watched them in a while and when I do it's against top teams, when they do play a deep line.

Just wondering if it's worth playing Trippier(WOL) or Daughty(AVL).
Both at home and both can get assists tbh and but can easily concede.
But my thinking is, if Newcastle usually play a deep line no matter the opponent, Wolves will probably struggle to score, cause they need space behind to actually attacl the way they want to.

Yes they do especially at home. There should be plenty of space for Neto run wild. However, I do think its not just breaking down a low block that's the current issue for Wolves - they've just lost the fluency they had to the front 3 when Cunha was fit

      1. JBG
        • 7 Years
        1 year, 9 months ago

Oh I agree, Cunha is very important to the way they attack.

Guess I'll play Trippier cause they are the better team. Don't overcomplicate it. Think both will probably get 2pts in the end.

I would probably go with that. Villa have one of the best records at defending set pieces so I think a Trippier A is probably more likely than Doughty

Dalot playing in a pretty free role the past few games, or is Utd defense just a no-go?

    1. JBG
      • 7 Years

I'd say no go, ETH tactics are just awful for the defence. 2-8-1 when attacking and a pitch length opening between the midfield and defence that opponents non stop take advantage of (no wonder MU concede so many shots).

Van Dijk, Gabriel, Bradley, Branthwaite + Senesi/Richards
