Thoughts on the following WC team?

    Flekken / Fabianski
TAA, Gabriel, Robinson / Greaves, Harwood-Bellis
    Palmer, Saka, Díaz, Mbeumo, Rogers
    Haaland, Raúl / 4.5

I'd ditch Palmer/Saka so you don't have to play Robinson, Rogers & Raul every GW

I'd use the funds to get Raya and upgrade the 4.5 forward.

Raul needs to be upgraded. Sacrifices in midfield maybe?

I've looked at very similar but the two 4.0's and especially the 4.5 fwd makes the bench too thin and I started again. But if you fancy it, go for it!

If they’re starters then what does it matter if they’re 4.0m and 4.5m.

They’re on our benches for a reason.

My thoughts are that if you like it then do it.

No one here is going to donate points to you if their recommendations fail so do what you want to do with your wildcard.

I really like the Jimenez pick. Would I want to rotate him for City? Ideally, yeah, but their fixtures are still great up to GW15 and I think this looks reasonable balanced if you really want Palmer

Thanks, mate! My main concern is no Watkins, but that would then mean no Palmer, and just can't have them all!

I'm not too concerned about Watkins tbh. Couldn't manage to find a full replay of the Wolves game but in MOTD highlights he barely feautured at all and Emery described their first half performance as sh**, with the subs seemingly changing the game again. Plus they have Bayern to worry about just a few days after Ipswich, could definitely see an early subbing (or even a rest depending on fitness levels?)

Give Palmer one more week, or move him out for Saka?

    Haaland Watkins Pedro

    Matthews ESR Greaves THB

I wish FPL would give you one price 'freeze' a week. Just so you could lock a player from dropping but not be compelled to transfer them out until Friday night/Saturday morning.

    On WC

Which 2 would you pick out of the following

    Martinelli
    Dibling
    Smith Rowe
    McNeil

    Any ideas would be welcomed

    1. Coys96
      • 8 Years

Wouldn't go McNeil. Martinelli is worth a punt. I'd go Smith Rowe if you've got value tied up in him. Dibling is good as an 8th attacker but I would only want to play him in attractive home fixtures.

so in order of how you've written them but Dibling for ESR

Luis Diaz will be rotated more right? Maybe not GW6 because Gakpo can play in EFL cup. But afterwards with the CL Diaz will get his CL games and Gakpo his PL games.. Obviously amazing FPL points so far, but for me at the start of the season is was either him of Jota, I picked the wrong one. But minutes wise still the same now. He can't be scoring goals every game in 70 minutes or less? I would keep Salah or downgrade to Saka / Palmer to free up funds to do Lewis to Gabriel.

only issue for me is a benching headache in attack. Thinking of getting Dibling as an 8th attacker who i could bench and upgrading one of the 4.0s in defence

True, but I would want to keep Rogers assuming you also have some value tied up in him. I would just accept the occasional bench points.

yeah i do have value tied up in Rogers and don't want to sell him. But I meant getting Dibling for ESR, as that allows for a significant upgrade, like getting Watkins for Jackson or Lewis for one of the 4.0s

Don't like De Ligt. Would rather go Mazraoui if you insist on United.

Mazraoui + Mykolenko over De Ligt + THB for me.

But the rest of it is extremely template and somewhat dull. Change ESR > Semenyo and you just have a total template attack.

De Ligt is a better option that Mazraoui - loads of goal threat and no rotation risk

I'd rather go Dalot than De Ligt. He's a bonus hoover. But I wouldn't go United period.

Lewis, Mykolenko, Greaves for me in the last 3 defender slots. TAA + Gabriel are locked.

Seen a few mention this but I don't know how they're related at all - he's not a DM, nor has he ever played in front of Rodri. If anything, Walker putting on a disasterclass makes him an option.

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

My undestanding of this was not that Lewis would start in his place, but that Pep might prefer Lewis/Stones inverting when Rodri is unavailable - i.e. he needs a Lewis & a Kovacic to fill the hole of one Rodri. But I'm really not all that sure...

        1. x.jim.x
          • 11 Years
          1 year, 2 months ago

I would have thought it'd just be a straight swap with Kovacic coming in, like the sub on Sunday. They've got Gundogan back now too, so would have thought they'd line up like against Brentford, but who knows with Pep.

          1. The Mentaculus
            • 4 Years
            1 year, 2 months ago

Yeah I'm sure Kovacic will be the direct beneficiary taking over that role. But he's just not quite the same elite allround 6 as Rodri, so I guess either Silva (or maybe Gundogan) will form more of a double pivot alongside him, or, if he wants to keep twin 8s (e.g. play Foden & KDB) then I think the passing ability of Lewis/Stones in deeper areas helps to make up for Rodri's absence in transitions

This is what i'm thinking also. Luckily, City are the early KO on Saturday, so hopefully we get leaks.

      2. duke313
        • 2 Years

Lewis would start at RB and invert into DM (in the space Rodri would have been). Walker can't do this, only other option they have for this is Stones. Lewis played 90 in first three games doing this when Rodri was unavailable.

        1. afsr
          • 9 Years

Lewis was not a DM he was one of 3 number 10s, along with KdB and Bilva. That's how he racked up all those shots in the box and xGi.
But all of that was before they got Gundogan back, so now Pep may choose to play differently. Also it's one thing to try a different formation with Lewis for 3 GWs when Rodri is due back soon and a quite different situation when he's out for the season

He didn't play as a 10 in any of the first three games he played.

Should I sacrifice Salah or Palmer to accommodate Mbeumo?

    Flekken - (4.0)
    Gabriel - Robinson - Lewis - (Faes) - (4.0)
    Salah - Palmer - Saka - ESR - Rogers
    Haaland - J Pedro - (4.5)

I'm leaning to sell Palmer as all Chelsea attacks seem to regularly get subbed early. Even Palmer played only 6x minutes on the last weekend.

By downgrading Palmer to Mbeumo, I can upgrade 4.5 fwd to Jackson for Chelsea. But, again, he always got subbed around 6x minutes too.

I would keep as is, you have three premium mids and Haaland.

That's one of my option really. Just wondering if Mbeumo could do equally well to Salah / Palmer in the coming period and I could upgrade elsewhere for better points.

Buying or selling Arsenal players for their nice but narrow bunch of lovely fixtures? This is my predicted Arsenal lineup for tomorrow's game against Bolton, on current information.

    Sterling Jesus Saka
    Jorginho Partey Nwaneri
    Lewis-Skelly Kiwior Saliba Timber
    Random-lanky-kid

Fully Out: Odegaard, Trossard, Neto, Zinchenko, Tierney, Tomiyasu, Merino
Partially knackered: White, Calafiori, Timber, Martinelli, Raya
Low fitness: Sterling, Jesus, Partey, Calafiori, Timber
Could also benefit from a rest: Havertz

    FPL relevance:
Saka and Saliba are likely to play. Saka on the rise (75% rising rapidly), with a small chance of rising tonight, I guess. Still, I wouldn't buying him today unless on a WC. One of Timber and White likely to start - could also be both. Neither look likely to change price.

Things not ideal for FPL Martinelli... Trossard suspended for Mikey Mouse Cup and back for GW6. Sterling continues to build up fitness (in both meanings of the word). Martinelli likely to get minutes from the bench midweek (if he doesn't start) due to lack of fitness in attacking positions, but
youth players could deputise for him if they are home and dry before subs are needed. Sterling and Trossard could drop in price before the deadline, but you can wait to sell (or buy!?) them after tomorrow's game, or give Trossard a chance against Leicester on Saturday.

Gabriel and Havertz have a decent chance of a rest, but an early purchase is unnecessary with them on 43% and 8%, respectively (on FPL Statistics). Besides, Havertz cameo is a threat if he doesn't start, especially as Arteta has no more number 9s at his disposal.

Wow that was the most boring thing I ever wrote on his site. Not the most pointless, though, tbh. Oh, I just realised that this is an article on Arsenal news haha. Well, this is either useless or very fitting or both.

tl;dr - don't buy any Arsenal players before they play tomorrow, duh. (Maybe Saka if you're desperate for that 0.1 and he's in the 90s on price prediction sites)

Pretty strong lineup but not much choice with the injuries, I suppose. Be interesting to see who makes the bench.

Only 3-5 first XI players I would say. 3 if Merino would be preferred to Partey. 5 if Sterling is preferred. Quite a compliment to Arsenal to still call it a strong lineup then!

Well, "strong" as in quite a lot first XI players being risked - injury-prone ones too.

Could see Heaven play over Saliba or Nichols over Timber/White, but that's a lot of change in the back 5, especially if Raya doesn't play. At least Heaven has been in the senior team squad before, albeit only once, I think. I'd imagine that having at least one first-teamer in that 5 would be huge for the youngsters as a learning experience. But maybe it's just not the priority at this point.

City having a rare Rodri-less season means Arteta has to put all his eggs in that basket, in my opinion (even though the Carabao is the greatest trophy you can win obv)

I don't think Rodri injury changes anything. Arsenal were already planning to win the league. If it makes the league easier for Arsenal, eggs can be spread more, if anything. But I don't think any decisions will be affected by that right now, if at all.

I don't think Arsenal are in a position where they can try to have their cake and eat it - Arteta's spent a billion quid and needs to deliver a title. This is the best chance he'll ever get and it's not worth risking throwing away a miraculous advantage just to steamroll a League One team in a competition that no one really cares about.

Looking to make three changes from Palmer, Muniz (and maybe Winks) whilst taking the risk of not taking any Arsenal Players:

    A: Maddison, Watkins
B: Mbeumo, Solanke, Semenyo (for Winks)

    Which option is best?

On WC: Robinson, Mazraoui, VdV, Aina, or any other defender up to 4.6?

I don't see a lot in it myself, although I'd have VdV comfortably last I think. Certainly warming to Man Utd defence at the moment although the immediate fixtures aren't great. Think I would have Aina marginally above Robinson if only because I don't see Fulham keeping consistent CS, but I'm a bit of a latecomer to Forest defence tbh so I'm still not entirely sure on a preference between Aina/Milenkovic/Sels
