Good sign for Haaland as the 'Scout' on the official FPL site runs the article:

"Is it time to consider SELLING Haaland in FPL?"

    ...on the front page.

Consider everything. Is it time to actually do it... a more interesting question!

Any suggestions here folks? Get palmer or sort out defence first?

    Sanchez
    Gabriel gvardiol Konsa
    Salah mbeumo esr rogers
    Haaland Solanke wood

    Valdi soucek faes greaves

Konsa to Ait Nouri maybe and upgrade Faes to a Forest player to cover Gabriel or lose Gabriel.

Thanks mate. Think Konsa > ran makes sense, not sure about the hit for the forest def. Planning to keep Gab now that his injury doesn’t seem that serious.

Team I have been impressed with (Not FPL) this season and maybe not the best players.
Onana: Probably the only decent defender at ManU this season.
TAA: Clearly class and Slot has covered his not so bad defensive frailties.
Murillo: I could see something in him last season. Getter better by the game.
Saliba: We all know he is good but I might go as far to say he is the world's best center back atm.
Gvardiol: Intelligent and could probably play anywhere on the pitch. Class act.
Rodri: Obvious pick who just makes any team tick.
Gravenberch: Developing into a class act. Always had promise but it is coming to the fore.
Semenyo: Should be playing in a better side. His only downfall he tries to do everyone's job.
Kulusevski: A change of position has brought out his qualities. A bad game at the weekend though.
Cunha: Always class and could play for any team.
Mbeumo: Moved from a post hitter to a goal scorer. He could easily play striker. (I missed out Haaland as an obvious pick)

There are others but they are the ones I have enjoyed watching.

I agree with these but although Rodri is great , he only played 4.5 games, I’d add rogers to the list as he seems to be involved in all villas good moves. Also think Justin has played well this season

      Agree with all bar Saliba.

Your comment could not have been more true last season, but this season? No where near the standard of quality he had set before. Plenty of individual errors already seen, positionally too. Possibly a consequence of playing with a far more unsettled defence each week.

And look, he’s been by no means awful and perhaps will still turn it around consistently but yeah, not at the level of the last 2 seasons so far.

You make a good point and my bias might be taking over. I do think his performances have been good and the defence is unsettled contributing to some of the outcomes. He would still be 1st on my defensive wish list along with Gvardiol. Views on Murillo?

Sarcasm is the lesser form of wit my mate. There is a crossover clearly, You are right and I have shown bias. I mentioned in another message, I put him in for the Balon D'or and to wind up Real Madrid hard losers. Be nice bud, don't look for fault and express yourself with a little bit more care. I must also not be so sensitive too. (Smile)

It's not that deep mate, just made me laugh how you made the point of it being about this season and not based on reputation, then you went and chucked the likes of Rodri, Trent and Saliba in.

            • 11 Years

As I said. I am too sensitive. (Smile) There is clearly an overlap in my thinking from last season but TAA is proving not to be quite so bad defensively which is his weak point. As far as Saliba is concerned, I don't think it is him totally that created the Arsenal problem. Albeit his sending off; but still class. (Smile)

He's having a bit of a dud season compared to his previous though. Obviously there's been a role change, but only an assist all season is disappointing. I'd be tempted to include Justin there or Mazraoui (if I wasn't going to be accused of bias).

You're right - Saliba is probably the best CB in the league based on recent seasons, but he's having a bit of a dud one this year. I'd say Gabriel has been much better than him.

Anything wrong with this moves for -12 or for short-term planning?

    Haaland/ESR/Rogers/Jackson=>Cunha/Salah/Saka/Welbeck

    Gives me

Welbeck can be Archer or fodder and invest in GK/DEF even more

I thought about Rogers but he is more of a 10 than a 6. Rodri played limited minutes, but confirmation of Citeh performance when he is not there is stark. Also, he deserved a mention by getting out the Madrid players and winning the Balon D'or.

Arteta comments = Gabriel is surely out of contention now

Generally that's what we've learned to expect from his positive comments about a player's prospects - assume it's a bluff.

Also there's this explanation of his approach: https://x.com/TheSharpeEnd/status/1851391485310369892

Mikel Arteta on his Arsenal injuries mind games…

‘I don’t want to make it easy for anyone. The opponent has to make sure they do their homework. I wish I knew their starting XI, who is on the bench, but I don’t.

‘I am not going to lie to you, I would never do that, but if I don’t want to tell you, I will keep you guessing. This is my job.’

Personally I'm not too concerned as long as Gabriel's fit by GW12.

I’ve heard from a very reliable source (who has given me correct info on the team in the last 2 weeks) that Gabriel could actually be ok for Newcastle, don’t quote me on that.

He told me the correct team for Bournemouth & told me Saka & Timber were fine & should start the day before it all broke.

I sold Gabriel myself before he told me because I wanted to free up funds to move into attack (own Raya) but had I known, I probably would have held.

I did say don’t quote me 🙂 but seriously, with the injuries at the back, I’m not sure the next 2 are CS anyway so could be a chance to size down & prepare to transfer funds into attack.

Assuming no YC in the Palace game, Gabriel > RAN for the juicy Saints fixture will be my move next week.

Then thinking of doing a “mini” wildcard during the international break:

Haaland > Jackson (own Cunha + Wood)
    Johnson > Palmer
    Rogers / Semenyo > Saka

What do we think? Already own TAA + Salah and would prefer to keep for the season barring any injuries.

The way the game is shifting, there could be an argument to have all 3 & pump everything into midfield.

Haaland obviously scary but I think more and more will move off him soon after his poor point showing v Wolves & Southampton.

Thoughts on salah (c) in for a hit?

To give me the holy trinity of haaland salah and palmer

Foden and solanke making way for salah and raul....

With all premiums firing, should we focus our attention (and therefore transfer budget) towards mid-budget picks instead who have much more volatile form? Why are we trying to predict the next premium explosion, when holding the most explosive ones should do the trick?

Cheers, that’s the way I went in the end. Needed Zophar to come back to me quickly but he’s probably glugging down a coffee someone bought him, for some unknown reason!

      Thanks Zophar!

I still have Trent in my team… worth keeping or time to downgrade to spread the funds.

I still have Raya in my team (been a bust since GW6 wildcard)… worth keeping?

Can I wait until GW 12 to get Chelsea attackers… and would your prioritize a double up at the expense of Saka?

The obvious question is of course; is it worth selling Haaland to get 3-4 premium mids? Or do we even need to ask this…

You get only 1 extra premium without Haaland.

I quite like it for a no Haaland team.
Although I might drop Son for one of the other spurs mids (if you def want Spurs) and upgrade defence a little maybe?
Son obviously a great option though

Considering this for a -12, madness?

    Rogers to Saka
    Johnson to Bruno
    Greaves to Trent
    Haaland to Cunha

    Would leave me with this:

    Muric
    Trent | Porro | Lewis
    Salah | Palmer | Saka | Bruno | Mbeumo
    Cunha | Wood

Fabianski | Robinson | Van Den Berg | Stewart*

    Madness or genius?
