There’s a very busy day of press conferences ahead of us – and this will be the place to come to get all the big Gameweek 12 team news on Gabriel Magalhaes, Antoine Semenyo, Enzo Fernandez and more.

There will be 16 Premier League managers facing the media on Friday, hopefully clearing up the lingering concerns we have about flagged players.

As ever, we’ll be bringing you the latest key team news updates in this ‘live’ article. Keep checking back throughout the day for the latest updates.

For the headline updates from Thursday’s four press conferences, check out this article here.

GAMEWEEK 12: KEY INJURY UPDATES FROM FRIDAY’S PRESSERS

GAMEWEEK 12 PRESS CONFERENCE TIMES

ARSENAL

Mikel Arteta confirmed that Gabriel Magalhaes‘ (thigh) will be out for “weeks” with the injury he sustained over the international break.

Widespread reports suggest he is going to be out for 1-2 months but Arteta wouldn’t ratify that, only saying that further tests were needed.

“Gabi unfortunately picked up an injury with the Brazilian national team and he’s going to be out for weeks.

“We need to have another scan, I think it’s next Wednesday, and then we’ll have the timeline probably much more clear than we have at the moment.” – Mikel Arteta on Gabriel

As for Riccardo Calafiori (hip), he bowed out of the Italy squad without kicking a ball. Arteta said he has yet to train since returning to north London.

“He wasn’t available [for the international break], he’s been carrying a few things and we had to bring him back. He hasn’t trained yet. Tomorrow we have another training session and we’ll see how he is.

“He’s been dealing with a little issue and he played, then we rested him and took that load because of that, and when he got into the last game and had to travel with the national team, they were very understanding of that issue, and that’s when they allowed him to come back.” – Mikel Arteta on Riccardo Calafiori

Jurrien Timber suffered a cut to the knee in the first half of the Netherlands’ clash with Lithuania on Monday and required physio treatment, although he then played on until midway through the second half and his 64th-minute withdrawal came as part of a triple substitution. There was no mention of an injury for him on Friday.

As for the ‘already injured’ group, Viktor Gyokeres (muscle), Gabriel Martinelli (muscle), Martin Odegaard (knee), Noni Madueke (knee) and Kai Havertz (knee) are all closing in on returns. Naturally, Arteta wouldn’t be drawn on which of them has a chance of featuring in Gameweek 12.

“We’ve put [in] a lot of energy during the international break, with all the medical staff as well, to try to bring them as quick as possible. So tomorrow we have another training session, see how some of them are feeling, whether it’s a bit too close to bring them for this game, or we feel that they can make a contribution in the game. Tomorrow we have more clarity.” – Mikel Arteta

Gabriel Jesus (knee) has been in training for the last fortnight and Arteta says he will get “exposure” with some in-house games.

“Very good, so he’s doing everything with the team at the moment for the last almost two weeks. We’re going to give him some exposure as well internally with some games so he gets that fitness. But he looks really good in training and he’s going to be a big addition to the team.” – Mikel Arteta on how Gabriel Jesus’ recovery is going

LIVERPOOL

Alisson (hamstring) is on course to return against Nottingham Forest, providing all goes well in training today.

But there’s a new double blow for the Reds, with Conor Bradley and Florian Wirtz ruled out with muscle injuries.

Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring), Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring), Jayden Danns (hamstring) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) are still sidelined, too.

Andrew Robertson isn’t injured, at least – he only missed training on Thursday for “private reasons”.

“Robbo didn’t train [on Thursday] for private reasons, but he will be with us today. Alisson trained last week and this week so he will be able to play tomorrow if things work out well today again.

“But we do have some issues after the international break, unfortunately. Conor Bradley is not able to play [and] Florian Wirtz is not able to play. That’s far from ideal.” – Arne Slot

“If he’s ready to play, then he will start.” – Arne Slot on Alisson

“I don’t expect Conor to be part of the upcoming 22 days. Maybe in the end, but not in the upcoming 22 days unless something like a miracle happens, which I don’t expect. Florian should be able to play after [Forest], it depends on what happens after, but that shouldn’t have to be that long. Jeremie is out just as long. He’s not probably going to be available in the upcoming two or three weeks as well. It’s going to be interesting who all of you want to see as a right full-back.” – Arne Slot on Conor Bradley and Florian Wirtz

Slot also lamented the lack of match fitness of some of his players who aren’t injured, such as Alexander Isak.

“The biggest issue we’ve faced until now, and [are] still facing, is the match fitness of the players and the time they’ve missed in pre-season. Alex [Isak], now we were hoping [for] him to play a little bit more for the Swedish national team.

“But unfortunately, he was one yellow away from being suspended so for obvious reasons they didn’t play him the second time. But for us it would’ve been better if he would have had some more minutes in the second game. I just told you about Conor and Florian. Jeremie [Frimpong] is already out and Giovanni [Leoni], so we have at this moment in time five natural defenders – five players who have always played as a defender – available for seven games in 22 days and I don’t see anyone coming back before that.” – Arne Slot

With Bradley and Frimpong out, Slot was asked about the possibility of Dominik Szoboszlai moving back to right-back.

“He [Szoboszlai] is doing so well in every position. That’s true. He’s played really well as a full-back and played really well as a midfielder. Curtis Jones played there last season as well. Joe Gomez can play there but Joe Gomez has played, I think if I’m correct, two times 90 minutes throughout the whole 2025 year. So, if we want to keep him available longer, it’s maybe a bit of a risk to play him seven times in 22 days. He missed out on a training session yesterday by the way as well but we are expecting him to train today. So [it’s] challenging but the good thing is we have still enough good players available and maybe one of them or two of them have to play in positions they usually don’t do. That’s what we have to accept.” – Arne Slot

CHELSEA

Benoit Badiashile (muscle), Pedro Neto (groin) and Enzo Fernandez (knee) are all fit for the trip to Burnley.

“Benoit [Badiashile] is back, he can be available for tomorrow, that’s great news for us. And then Enzo [Fernandez] and Pedro [Neto], they used the international break to recover a little bit of energy, also to recover from the injury, the problems they had, and they are both available for tomorrow.” – Enzo Maresca

There’ll be no Cole Palmer, however. Just as he was nearing a return from groin niggles, he’s broken his toe in a “freak accident” at home.

“He’s probably not available for tomorrow for sure, Barcelona, for sure, Arsenal, for sure. Unfortunately, he had an accident at home two days ago and he hit his toe. It’s nothing important, but for sure he’s not back next week.

“We don’t know [how long]. It’s a fracture. The only thing we know is that he’s not available for this week, next week.

“He was very close [to returning]. He was back with us almost with the groin and it’s very good news. And then again, he had this small problem and hopefully it’s nothing important.” – Enzo Maresca on Cole Palmer

Asked about Moises Caicedo playing 180 minutes for Ecuador and his late return from the Americas, Maresca said he hadn’t seen his influential midfielder yet.

“Moi [Caicedo] came back last night. I didn’t see Moi yet, so I will see Moi now in a while.” – Enzo Maresca

Romeo Lavia (quad), Levi Colwill (knee), Mykhailo Mudryk (suspended) and Dario Essugo (thigh) remain on the sidelines.

BOURNEMOUTH

Andoni Iraola is uncertain whether Antoine Semenyo (ankle) will be fit for West Ham United’s visit this weekend.

The winger dropped out of the Ghana squad with a “left anterior talo-fibula ligament sprain”, which was the aggravation of an injury he suffered against Aston Villa a fortnight ago.

Iraola said it will be up to the winger to decide how fit he is for the clash with the Hammers.

“It’s not something new that happened when he was there. It’s just a matter of he was already dealing with an ankle injury. And I cannot tell you if he’s going to play tomorrow or not. We have to see. We have a couple of situations with the ones that have arrived late that we have to see today if they are comfortable to help us tomorrow, but the ones that I know that they are not going to be available for sure are Justin [Kluivert] and Ben [Gannon-Doak].

“I think it’s something that appeared before the Villa game and has gone through this in the international games, but it’s not like a muscle injury. That definitely takes you out. No, I think it’s going to be a matter of his feelings today and we’ll see. But I really don’t know if he’s going to be available for tomorrow or not. I hope he is because he’s very important for us. But with the ankle, it’s a matter of pain and how you feel yourself. And we will see.

“He normally plays most of the minutes and my worry right now is try to see if he’s available for tomorrow and if not for next one, but try to keep him in that level of performance. – Andoni Iraola on Antoine Semenyo

As Iraola mentioned there, Justin Kluivert (abductor) and Ben Gannon-Doak (hamstring) are both sidelined after picking up injuries over the break.

Tyler Adams and Adam Smith have been following the concussion protocol following their Gameweek 11 collision and the Cherries will also make a late call on those two, although they are technically available.

“As you know, we have had a bad international break. Very bad.

“We had confirmed injuries of Justin [Kluivert], an adductor muscle injury. Justin is going to be out. Ben Gannon-Doak also, a hamstring injury. Especially Ben’s is a bad one. He will be out for some time. Today we have a consultation with a surgeon to see if it’s something that has to go through surgery, or we can go more conservative. But it’s a big hamstring injury, so Ben will be out for some months.

“We also have others coming with knocks, kind of normal things, and we’ll see today how they train. We train this evening.

“Then we also had an incident with Adam Smith and Tyler Adams because both have been in the concussion protocol. So, they are available for the game, but it’s true that during these two weeks, they’ve had to go through all the process of concussion that is quite meticulous and has definitely affected the training for both.” – Andoni Iraola

CRYSTAL PALACE

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Marc Guehi (foot) and Eddie Nketiah (hamstring) are fit for the clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It turns out that Jean-Philippe Mateta returned from France duty with a minor knee problem but that issue too is now in the past.

 “All players are fit, fortunately.

“Marc started training with on Wednesday, so he did now three sessions, and it’s good.

“Eddie Nketiah trained the whole week, starting on Monday, so he’s fine and will be in the squad.

“JP [Mateta] came back with a minor knee issue from France, but trained today without any issues, so he’s also fit. Very good news.” – Oliver Glasner

Cheick Doucoure (knee) and Caleb Kporha (back) have been absent all season, while Rio Cardines (abductor) only had “a minor issue” shortly before the November break.

Long-term absentee Chadi Riad (knee) had returned to training in early November but after suffering a minor scare in training, is yet to be involved in any matchday squad.

There should hopefully be no concerns about Daniel Munoz, whose departure from the Colombia squad was linked to “family reasons” rather than injury.

MANCHESTER CITY

The City team news is nice and simple: everyone is fit except for Mateo Kovacic (ankle) and Rodri (unspecified).

“Everybody is fit except Kova and Rodri.

“Rodri is making steps good. It’s already almost three weeks since his last setback. He knows that he had to take time to recover well mentally and especially physically in the problems that he had, and to be consistent from now on until the end.” – Pep Guardiola

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Eddie Howe says that Anthony Gordon (hip) and Tino Livramento (knee) are “very close” to a playing comeback after returning to training over the break.

Nick Pope is fit, meanwhile: he suffered a concussion in Gameweek 11 but has since passed the recovery protocols.

“Ant [Gordon] is very close. He’s worked well during the break. He’ll be touch-and-go for the game. We’ll make a very late decision on him.

“Nick [Pope] has trained, no problems with that,

“[Livramento] is very close. He’s trained this international break which has been great to see. Such an important player for us, great to have him back training with the group.

“He’s been out a while and his injury was serious enough to make sure we treated him well but he’s done a lot of work. He’s been very, very good professionally in terms of how he’s dealt with the injury and the work he’s done with the physios so I’d say he’s in pretty good shape.” – Eddie Howe

Joelinton, who suffered a knock in the loss to Brentford, and Sandro Tonali, who returned home early from international duty with Italy, are also fine.

Yoane Wissa (knee) and Will Osula (ankle) remain out, however, with the former still without a return date.

“I haven’t got a clear, defined return date for you. He’s working well, so he’s not back training with us yet – but he’s close. He’s working with the sports scientists, he’s in that phase where he’s moved past the physios. He’s almost in a pre-season with them, currently.” – Eddie Howe on Yoane Wissa

Osula will see a specialist on Monday to check on his progress but Howe ruled him out of the next few games.

Dan Burn serves a one-match ban.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Ruben Amorim confirmed that Benjamin Sesko would be out for “a few weeks” with the knee injury he sustained against Tottenham Hotspur just before the international break.

Harry Maguire (hamstring) is not ready to return, either.

In better news, Casemiro shook off a knock that he picked up in Gameweek 11 to feature for Brazil over the break.

Kobbie Mainoo, who wasn’t available for the clash with Spurs due to a knock, is expected to train on Saturday.

Lisandro Martinez (knee) has been back in training for weeks after a long spell out.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

It’s positive news from the Spurs camp.

Lucas Bergvall (concussion), Pape Matar Sarr (knock) and Randal Kolo Muani (jaw) were all declared available by Thomas Frank on Friday.

Mohammed Kudus (unspecified), Archie Gray (calf), Koto Takai (foot) and Ben Davies (muscle) have all trained, too.

Long-term absentee Radu Dragusin (knee) meanwhile featured for 45 minutes for the under-21s over the break.

“They are good, most of them. Pape trained today. He’s ready, available. Lucas trained today. Ready, available. Kolo Muani, yes. Trained today. Available, of course has a mask he needs to play with.”

“Radu, very happy. He has probably been in, for a couple of weeks now, full training, full in, everything. With the team, played his first 45 minutes in nine months, something like that, last Wednesday, I think it was. Very happy with that. Trained fully today. Now he’s definitely getting very close to being able to be selected. Now it’s just a matter of performance and probably just a few more game minutes to be fully available.

“Kota and Ben both trained with the team today, for the first time, so that’s also positive.

“[Gray] trained with the team as well.

“[Kudus] trained today as well, so that is good.” – Thomas Frank

That leaves just Dominic Solanke (ankle), James Maddison (knee), Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Yves Bissouma (ankle) on the sidelines.

“Dom is not ready yet. I think he also had an article recently where he spoke about it. So we are very, as I said, the same. Very aware that when we put him out there, we want to be absolutely sure, as sure as we can be, that no setback going forward. So I’m comfortable he will soon be ready, but I will not put a timeframe on it.” – Thomas Frank on Dominic Solanke

ASTON VILLA

Matty Cash, Amadou Onana, Ezri Konsa and Lamare Bogarde will train tomorrow after picking up minor issues over the international break.

Indeed, Unai Emery said that the only definite absentee for Gameweek 12 is Tyrone Mings (hamstring).

More to follow

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Fabian Hurzeler implied that Kaoru Mitoma (ankle), who was pictured at the training ground over the break, will miss out again in Gameweek 12.

Solly March (knee), Adam Webster (knee), Tommy Watson (unspecified) and James Milner (muscle) are still sidelined, too.

However, it’s good news on Jack Hinshelwood (ankle), Yasin Ayari (ankle) and Brajan Gruda (knee), who have all been passed fit.

“[Ayari is] fine. He’s fine. He’s available.

“Jack Hinshelwood is an option. He will be definitely on the bench. Solly March is getting really close. So I think it’s only a question of two, three weeks maybe to see see him back.

“Brajan Gruda is also an option. We still have Adam Webster and James Milner who will be out… James Milner for the next two, three weeks and Adam long term.

“Kaoru, it’s not an easy thing to predict. So, I think in the last international break already I said it’s just a question of two, three weeks but now it’s getting close. It’s only a thing where he has to handle the pain. So, it’s not a big issue; everything is is healed. So, he should be fine. We just have to see how he can handle the pain and then I can’t say when he will be back exactly but I’m sure that it doesn’t take that long.” – Fabian Hurzeler

FULHAM

The Cottagers confirmed earlier this week that Rodrigo Muniz would be sidelined until 2026 after hamstring surgery.

Marco Silva said on Friday that he is expecting Muniz back in February.

The Fulham boss also said that Antonee Robinson (knee) is his only other injury-related absentee, although Sasa Lukic serves a one-match ban for yellow card accumulation.

EVERTON

David Moyes says Merlin Rohl has undergone a hernia operation and will be absent for Everton for a number of weeks.

Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring) and Nathan Patterson (foot/hernia) were already on the injury list.

BRENTFORD

Fabio Carvalho (knee) has joined Antoni Milambo (knee) and Josh Dasilva (knee) on the injury list – and like Milambo, his season is over.

Carvalho has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, with surgery and a long-term rehabilitation to follow.

Keith Andrews confirmed that the Bees have no other fresh concerns, at least.

Kristoffer Ajer recovered from a back spasm injury that kept him out of Gameweek 11 to feature for Norway over the international break.

LEEDS UNITED

Leeds’ internationals have returned unscathed and Daniel Farke says he has “not one player injured” for the visit of Aston Villa.

That presumably means Sebastiaan Bornauw (knee) is fit: he was described as a “question mark” for the Gameweek 11 clash with Nottingham Forest and missed out.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Matt Doherty (knee) is not quite ready to make a playing comeback despite returning to training.

Rodrigo Gomes (groin) and Dan Bentley (ankle) also remain out.

Emmanuel Agbadou is at least back after serving a one-match ban in Gameweek 11.

And new Wolves boss Rob Edwards has no fresh concerns from the international break.

“Matt Doherty has progressed well, he’s not quite ready for tomorrow but he’s been out on the training pitch today. So, it’s just Rodrigo and Dan Bentley are the two who won’t be available.” – Rob Edwards

Thanks. I think having a penalty saved by Martinez is becoming a rite of passage for any prolific goal scorer! So Semenyo is going to score 10 of his next 10!

He probably still has pens but the missed pen does give a bit of uncertainty who will take the next pen.

"It's not a bad penalty," Iraola says on Semenyo's spot kick, he says it was an amazon save from Martinez.

Tav and Evan both on the pitch when Sem took (and missed) his pen. Hmmm. Tav seems unlikely, since he's not taken one since 17/18 season. Evan only taken one for Bournemouth/in English football; Semenyo, 3. My money is on Semenyo, but could easily be seeing Evan stepping up.

Play Semi, Iraola has ‘left it to him to decide’, Semi on a high from getting engaged and will defo want to play, lasted 56 minutes before coming off vs Japan before deciding he’d had enough and jetting off to his engagement party. If by some slim (imho) chance he doesn’t play he will definitely play next week and you will have lost a fair chunk of money. Just my opinion, but I’m very biased!

I don’t see the appeal of Zub in a WC team at all to be honest. I like O’Reilly and just brought him in, but he’s last on my bench this week - clean sheet odds around 30% I think

    2FT 0.5m ITB

    Raya
    Tarkowski Senesi Andersen
    Saka Bruno Semenyo* Sarr
    Haaland Woltemade Thiago

    Dub - King Alderete Gabriel*

Where to use the second FT after Gab > VVD/Munoz?

    A) Tarkowski > VVD/Munoz (whichever one I don't bring in for Gab)
    B) Semenyo > Mbeumo
    C) Woltemade > Mateta

    Semenyo. What to do?

    A. Semenyo > Sarr (AfCon) -- already have Ndiaye
    B. Semenyo > Cunha
    C. Semenyo > Mbeumo (AfCon) -- high price might complicate future plans
    D. Hold Semenyo and hope for a start -- Rodon and Keane, respectively 1st and 2nd on bench;
    E. Hold Semenyo and do Keane > Lacroix, which would leave Ndiaye and Rodon, respectively 1st and 2nd on bench

Ugh was hoping to get confirmation of Semenyo injury as I wanted to sell him for Sarr if he was confirmed out. Now it seems like a bad transfer that could backfire. But Wolves are just so terrible..

Yea me too. It sounds like it. Just feels like one of those situations where whatever you do it will turn to sh*t.. Either Semenyo hauls or Sarr hauls (of course the one you dont own)

Same was hoping for something more concrete so I could just make the switch but with it so up in the air if he will play or not it seems like a risky move that could come off but could also backfire but I really want sarr for the wolves fixture.

Yea me too. Sucks. It feels like the boring and theoretically sound option is to keep Semenyo. Aggressive play is to sell for Sarr.

Most had double arsenal defence before now, with Gabriel and Timber. I think if you do Gabriel to a cheaper defender it moves back to the one premiem defence which is a considerable option. Obviously Raya owners have it different.
