You’ve probably heard about Joe’s much-liked ‘Goals Imminent’ table. You might listen to the Fantasy Football Scout podcast of the same name. Now, Goals Imminent is a regular feature in article form!

Heading towards Gameweek 16 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), we use our Members Area statistics to identify some underachieving players who look ‘due’ for a goal and/or assist.

Naturally, we’ll attempt to assess whether they’re unlucky, suffering a rare blip, or just aren’t particularly good.

LAST WEEK’S SUCCESSES

FPL notes: Minteh early sub, Rutter “boost” + Bowen’s shots 3

You may have heard that Mohamed Salah (£14.0m) was benched again on Saturday and didn’t like it.

The unused substitute was one of nine names on our Goals Imminent table, with Jarrod Bowen (£7.5m) one of the two names to score. He suddenly seems a nice way out of the Jean-Philippe Mateta (£8.0m) problem.

Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) went better than that: he delivered his joint-second-highest FPL score ever on Monday.

At Craven Cottage, Raul Jimenez (£6.2m) set up Harry Wilson’s (£5.2m) strike, yet opponents Crystal Palace won late on from Yeremy Pino‘s (£5.8m) corner.

He was indeed due to assist, but Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.6m) outdid the prediction by briefly putting Liverpool 3-2 up at Leeds United.

GOALS IMMINENT

Just seen something about Ivan Toney was arrested for alleged assault, so definitely must not have been Munoz

      maybe

being honest i think raul looked pretty gassed against palace, should have been subbed off. alot of Raul's potential depends on how Silva approaches the league cup fixture, if he rotates and concentrates on the league given fulham's form and proximity to the bottom 3, raul should be good for the next few

I'm going to blow all 5 by next week but that's because I'm playing BB17. If I didn't have BB I'd be aiming to get a good 11 plus 1-2 decent subs.

Id be willing to bet your "best team ever" is basically a team of the 11 top performing players of the last 3 GWs.

Oh now that I wasn't paying attention someone replies 🙂 The key issues is having Raya as GK. I want Rice for long term staboility and that requires the extra 2 transfers to get a dud keeper... so a great 10 team, with a terrible keeper. Thank you for the replies

yea was shocking. thought wolves were bad vs forest but took it to another level against united. im not sure how a team struggling so much can have a defence that is that wide open and not prioritise defensive solidity. although maybe that explains the struggling 🙂 youd think edwards would try to sort that out when he came in

        • x.jim.x
          • 11 Years

He scores that pen against you lot and we're in the top 4, which is also mental considering how bad we've been

yeah such an up down season for united, i guess even with the missed opportunities you take the points total they have now? and try to kick on

maybe its because im not a fan of united, but i think you're being just a tad pessimistic 🙂 its not been bad all season long. some signs here and there of how good you guys can be , inbetween the lacklustre showings

It's been a season of missed opportunities for me. The last two home results sum this team up perfectly - cowardly tactics, and the players bottle it whenever the pressure's on.

Honestly, I haven't really seen signs of improvement since last season - we've just got better players now, so the likes of Mbeumo and Cunha are obviously going to perform better than Garnacho and Antony. We're only playing a game a week, and the players still can't string consistent performances together - even last night we weren't particularly good, Wolves were just horrendous and let Bruno do whatever he wanted.

Without those early penalty misses and with misfiring midfielders he's be the prime pick.

Slightly frustratingly I FH him last Gw for captain and was back on Haaland this Gw.

Still did okay but that would have made the difference.

        HELP PLEASE

Very confused about the free hit chip, if I make transfers before activating (to avoid price drops) will I keep those transfers for following gameweeks? Or will they be wiped when I play the chip?

Also a load of stuff online says I will lose all saved free transfers when playing free hit - presume that isn't the case??

        Tvm for any wisdom

No, FH reverts all transfers to previous Gw squad.

Transfers banked remain. You don't gain one but you can't anyhow this Gw.

              That's what I said...

              You don't gain one.

No body at all could roll and gain one this Gw, which is the unique feature in the history of the game.

                • 11 Years

There's nothing unique about not gaining a transfer this GW when you play FH

You do really miss the point.

The unique feature is we have 5 FTs so no one can gain one this week, at all.

                  It was a separate point.

Plenty of people yesterday were saying it was a bad thing to use FH GW 16 because "you burn a transfer" which is wrong. I was assuming you had the same idea.

        5 FTs to use still.

        Reijnders to Dewsbury-Hall
        Mateta to Ekitiké

For exact funds. If no injury at Inter Milan tonight.

        Would you do it?

would say only if ekitike starts with isak today and does well (like frankfurt match). especially if gakpo is not there, if they both dont start together when gakpo and salah arent involved not promising signs

unless you're rotating ekitike and maybe can try and predict when slot will start isak. no doubting ekitike's fpl potential when he gets a run of starts

With Gakpo out and Liverpool needing goals and wins I'm fairly certain he'll start.

I had him at the beginning of the season and he's the only one I'd want at the moment.

I think the Thursday - Sunday thing will catch-up with Palace attacking wise and they travel to Ireland this week.

I was just looking at the Christmas schedule which is okay this year

But with Christmas and New Year falling on a Thursday the post New Year turnaround is stark.

I'm going to play into the next few but try to hang on to 2 or 3 transfers for early January 2026.
