The first double Gameweek of the season may be over but already the community is readying itself for the next one. Our community writers take a look at how best to plan ahead and analyse the likely players to draft in. Meanwhile, there was an extra special guest on our live Scoutcast this week and we received an update on the health of a much-respected community veteran. Elsewhere, our latest members tables are dominated by differential options and we also catch up on the latest risers and fallers in our community leagues.

The Community Articles

While our Scoutcast guest is in prime position to win FPL, most of us can only dream of such lofty heights. Sticky Mockwell has been busy constructing some eye catching graphs to reveal just how large a mountain Fantasy managers like myself, Triggerlips, Ruth_NZ and Mark have to climb to win the competition.

For those of us with mini-league glory and overall rank to still play for Andy85wsm urges investment in the Chelsea backline, particularly with the West London side’s double Gameweek 34 looming.

Meanwhile Patch’s latest research suggests that attacking players in relegation-embattled sides are a potentially lucrative source of points for the run-in.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Although we are awaiting confirmation of fixture rescheduling, Gameweek 34 could be set to offer a bumper round of double fixtures and also be preceded with a set of blank fixtures to test Fantasy management skills to their limit.

Andy85wsm took a look at how best to navigate Gameweeks 33 and 34 with just one hit. While we also took a look at the most favourable fixtures during those weeks to see how easy it is to assemble the best squad.

With David Silva once again outscoring Sergio Aguero last time out, is it time to cash in on the Argentine’s hefty price tag and invest elsewhere, asked Ryan. With so many other strikers with potential double Gameweeks many are certainly considering such a move.

Another name on many double Gameweek squad lists is Branislav Ivanovic, with Chelsea one of two teams that definitely will have two matches in Gameweek 34. But, Sess! asks, is he worth the outlay? After reading Andy85wsm’s community article on Chelsea defenders, many are inclined to think he is.

Granville was absent from our live Scoutcast this week, but his replacement, the overall leader of FPL Simon March (aka Dufflinks), was more than able to prove his Fantasy management credentials. Among those to pose questions to Simon was Silver Surfer, who was intrigued that he had reached the summit without taking a single hit all season. Another key factor in Simon’s ascent has been avoiding too many differentials and sticking with sensible captain choices. As Beardedoldman’s discussion on tactics showed, this is advice many wish they’d taken over the last few months. Simon also revealed that he rarely gets to watch live matches, something the parents among us sympathised with in Greenwindmill‘s discussion on our viewing habits.

Finally, Beric popped by with an update on community veteran Doosra, who has been absent from the site through illness for a number of weeks. His family say they are “very moved” by your messages of support and while Doosra’s condition remains serious, they are hopeful he will soon be on the road to recovery.

The Members’ Tables

Jonesb1987 was busy constructing a raft of “moneyball” tables for those looking for the ultimate differential. These look at bargain attacking midfielders, holding midfielders and goalkeepers.

Goalscoring defenders can also offer a cheap route to points. My table on Attacking Defenders has a universal filter to allow Members to assess the best options home, away and more recently.

If you’re a member and have yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit of the Top 10,000 Any Season League and has rocketed up to eighth in the overall FPL standings. Meanwhile, Nick Edge’s rise from 45,896 to 5,762 since Gameweek 20 puts him at the top of the FFS January Wildcard League. Both these leagues are organised by Red Lightning.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Woy of the Wovers hit the top score in Gameweek 28 with 100. There are now 203 teams left, with 57 eliminated in Gameweek 28 after the safety score was set at 79.

Those still in contention to win LAWR’s FA Cup of Tea include Sporting, Christina and Mull.

well i think sanchez is a good move. puncheon is a decent shout as a gamble but i wouldnt do it myself because theres also the cost of getting rid of him at some point. just do sanchez, and if you cant, then get a cheaper mid than puncheon and play eriksen imo.

Yeah. I'm 900 odd right now. On one hand I'd like to stay there(!) but on the other don't think you last long playing too safe and as you say it's an open week.

My problem is I can see City battering Burnley!

    Kane's points per 90 minutes:

    7.73

    Aguero's points per 90 minutes:

    7.89

Kane's points per 90 minutes versus top 5:

    9.00 (5 games total)

Aguero's points per 90 minutes versus bottom 3:

    84 minutes Leicester (H) - 2 pts
    90 minutes QPR (A) - 13 pts - 2 goals

7.76 (not big enough of a sample)

Destroyed Sunderland and did decently well against Villa. Aguero is essentially fixture proof (besides Chelsea).

Despite the captain poll strongly favoring Aguero, captaining Kane is not the worst idea to try to make a leap in the standings. Only thing in your way is the mighty David De Gea.

My opinion on Sanchez? He's a fantastic player but less consistent than Aguero and Kane right now.

Compare their points per minute from Aguero's return from injury. Interesting results 😉

Yup I wanted to include the whole season though! We all know what Aguero is capable of and he played well against Barcelona. If it was any other player I would point to Kane's recent form to making him the obvious choice.

    Foster
    Bellerin Dawson Clichy
    Hazard Eriksen Silva Cazorla
    Aguero(c) Kane Austin

    Bench - PVA, Clyne, Ameobi

1FT and £4.8m in the bank, enough to do Austin > Costa with £0.2m left over. Now I know Costa isn't really in form right now, and is 2YC away from a 2 game ban, but he's still a class player and Chelsea only have league to focus on now. I don't have anything else urgent to spend £4.8m on either. I do still have my WC for the DGW in GW34, for what it's worth..

Should I make the transfer this GW or can anybody suggest anything else?

I had a look through the teams at the top of the OR table tonight...The DGW's don't half make a mess of this game, so many look a like teams. I don't know how far down the game the template team goes from last week but I bet it's a very long way...as far as 50k at a guess..maybe more...

The people who will capitalise this week are the ones (unlike me) who don't have to fix their defences, and can bring in someone interesting (eg, N'Doye, Punch, Coutinho).
