Not all that. More Micah Richards than Paolo Maldini. Time to take the 60 mill and run. » Read

Ty. What I remembered pretty much. Switched to Kun at that point - didn’t feel like bad value. I wonder where everyone was during the Hokey Cokey era when Auba too was the rage. I simply don’t recall anyone much insisting that premium forwards were a waste then » Read

Anyone want to confirm how many points Kane had before his big injury in 21 (?). Memory says he scored around 130 points at that point - not too shabby if you got him after the World Cup in about GW3 » Read

  4. How AFCON 2019 could affect Liverpool's start to the new season 17 hours, 19 mins ago

Whatiffery. Pogba is a little rubbish at spot kicks - there’s no way of adding notional points for if he had scored. An alternative view is to look at the proportion of his points that come from pens. I haven’t looked it up but I’m willing to bet it exceeds Lampard for one. Could he lose pens to Rashford? Probably not given ego but there’d be a fair footballing case to be made. » Read

True But the early runners may be in the 6.0 - 7.0 category and so out of reach. There’s a danger in not being able to swap in. And out of players in different price brackets. » Read

Your third City would almost certainly need to be Bilva or Ederson assuming you go Laporte and Sterling - don’t see the budget stretching to Kun. Are they the best choices in those slots? I’m not really into this. I doubt 3 City 3 Liverpool were optimal through last season when both teams were dominant. Going this way you’d have missed out on Alonso Son Pogba Rashford Richarlison etc when they were red hot. End of season averages only tell part of the story. It feels like a hugely limiting way to play. » Read

  8. Wesley more likely to boost Villa colleagues than provide FPL value himself 2 days, 16 hours ago

No idea about the answer here. Is the proportion of dead teams falling? By the time most got to play their chips from 32 on there wasn’t anything like 6.3 mill involved » Read

See your concerns but I fancy them ahead of Everton - as I rate Pellegrini over Silva and this is now his squad. One big proviso is that they sort out the defence. The other is that Arnie stays fit and on board and/or they get a Rondon in. More bloat! Very mixed for FPL. Arnie I guess must be an option. Fanderson might look more attractive too if he’s nailed. I understood part of his issue in the back end of last season was being used as the out from defence all the time - hence his getting the ball in all the wrong positions. » Read

Bats is definitely interesting to me. Looking to see what happens there. I’m half hoping he’ll go back to Palace. He has the useful trick of actually scoring goals - and he was cheap as chips last time out. » Read

Not that many (11/12 from memory) but they were just about best of the rest until the Everton run happened. I can see double figures again and that will likely put them in the top half dozen or so. If there’s a nailed defensive option at or sub 5.0 then I’m looking. That option could also be at left back as PvA could well be replaced - great going forward but a defensive liability » Read

Interesting contrast here for me with Palace. AWB does now appear likely to be sold for a fortune. I’d be relatively confident though that the Palace defence will perform similarly even though his replacement won’t be in the same class. A Hodgson defence is always going to be pretty solid given reasonable personnel. I doubt Silva to do the same. (The new Palace right back might be the one to be on in the 4.5 category) » Read

He is/was. The other one to watch is whether they hold onto Gueye who was fairly influential. I’m dubious about those defensive stats given how uneven they were over the two halves of the season. Until now Silva hasn’t really shone at organising a defence. But I suppose you could argue that Silva imposed his shape on them and that’s a sign of how things will continue. » Read

One difficulty he could present is that Bobby F and Laca aside there may not be anyone in his price range to swap in and out if you’re aiming to maximise premium transfers. Bobby F seems a non optimal Liverpool choice and Laca could yet be on his way - though that talk seems to have died down a bit. » Read

Yikes What price do you see Kun and Sterling as then? I’d’ve had them both as being around the 12 mark - being pessimistic. I hadn’t thought there would be a serious price difference » Read

My guess when budgets come in is that it’s going to be a straight choice between Kun and Sterling for most - especially if it’s Mo over Mane. If Senegal and Egypt go all the way in the Afcon then it becomes really intriguing for the first couple of weeks. » Read
