Yeah, I like that. As you mention, it's too early to say for sure until we've seen prices/fixtures but there's a naivety in assuming that the same patterns (big at the back, forwards being poop) will carry over from one season to the next. » Read
Well said, folks. It's completely fine if you don't like the strategy and didn't take much from the article but it's just someone playing the game a bit differently and I don't get the need to go for the jugular with stuff like "dross" and "rubbish", and basically call the writer a liar. There's a person at the other end of the article, at the end of the day, and he's a good egg. » Read
Yeah, EO is more of an influence on decision-making. OR, if you let it get to you, is more of a mood-affector than anything that sways strategy, transfers, planning etc over the season as a whole, although I do think it comes a lot more into play for some managers (me included) towards the end of a campaign. If you're trying to preserve a top 10k rank, for example, or trying to break into that rank tier. Funnily enough, like Natedog mentions above, despite playing for two decades now, I didn't really worry myself about OR until about the mid-2010s, it was all about mini-league glory/cash until that point. » Read
Yeah, I'd like that too. I thought Fanteam's policy of creating a big chasm between Mane and Salah (I think there may have been 2.5m or 3m in it) was good as it really did make you stop to consider whether the latter was worth it. » Read
I can see 6.5 again, tbh. I take what you're saying about his unparalleled goalscoring record in the Championship but I can't recall any promoted asset being higher than that from the off. And I think his top-flight previous has to be a consideration. Given the inevitable price rises for TAA, James, Son etc and Haaland coming in, I could see FPL being generous with the lesser lights. » Read
As mentioned elsewhere, it's eminently possible on the app/phone browser. I use neither but even I avoid looking at my OR *during* Gameweeks, until the last ball is kicked, as a daft superstition. Much squinting/avoidance of the right-hand side required as I'm still looking at transfer, stats etc. » Read
And he's the runaway leader of the poll, I can exclusively reveal. I think all the stink around forwards has masked the fact that it's actually been quite a mediocre year for goalkeepers, too. No real Pope or Martinez figure emerging from the budget pack, Ramsdale about the best of them. » Read
There's often a Wolves, a Brentford, a Sheff Utd or a Leeds who makes a mockery of the odds! Would you fancy answering a few questions on Bournemouth via email, Paul? Only if you have time. » Read
Do you think the (still good) rank was to do with not playing in your usual style or more that this was not a good season to experiment in? With all the cancellations, short-notice rearrangements and DGWs, it seemed like maybe this was a year to take more hits than usual, not fewer. » Read
Chance of a swift bounceback a la Norwich/Fulham/Bournemouth? I could imagine quite a lot of that group sticking around with the exception of maybe Tarkowski, Cornet, Weghorst and perhaps Pope? » Read
Any Fulham or Bournemouth fans out there in the FFS ether? Myself and Tom will be writing The Promoted series soon and while we do plan on watching the 2021/22 Championship boxset to brush on your Mitrovics of this world, it'd be good to get a fan's perspective on each team, too. » Read
