I don't want to argue with you either, so I'll stop now - to the delight of many I'm sure 😀 . I'm glad there are now lots of people taking it much more seriously - as they were definitely not 3 weeks ago. I've been socially distancing myself as much as possible for all that time, but there has to be a line - and removing people from parks is crossing it for me. That's all I was saying. » Read

Why risk it? At a time when mental health is all the rage I think your trivial conclusion about the benefits of being outside and also sunbathing (sun exposure in general) is limited (I'd also personally find it hard to get a tan this early in the year 😀 ) You can do a lot of those things without spreading germs, but I guess it's best to just stay inside for a couple of months. Also look up viral load - being inside all day with 4+ people (including kids) that all already have it is probably worse than practising social distancing outside. » Read

Getting real is not chastising people for going outside or in parks - seems you've both got the complete wrong end of my comment. It's funny how 3 weeks ago most people thought some people/the media were overreacting (even though Italy numbers showed otherwise) and now those same people think you shouldn't be allowed outside, that's all I was saying. People seem to need to take everything to extremes. » Read

My opinion is not any different to yours - I've been saying those things to people since 1st March (when most people thought I had a tin-foil hat on) - I'm not talking about surfaces, confined spaces or close contact - I'm taking about running, sunbathing in a park, please tell me what is wrong with doing those things? » Read

Ok, cool. 3rd attempt to reply to Brosstan 😀 I've just been looking at the Guardian comment section - 'anti-fascist' peaceful left leaning people - all saying the government isn't doing enough because people went to a park to sunbathe. I've been all over this since March 1st, and it's *not just the flu*, but everyone is acting like the virus is just floating around in the atmosphere or something. Personal freedom is important, as is lessening the social/economic impact. » Read

I thought of the idea independently a few years back, but I'm too idiotic to run it (and didn't think it would be popular) but given the current situation and with Ragabolly involved it could be great, very good idea imo - but I've got reading I've been putting off to do, and this could be a good time to do it...so prob not - have fun! » Read

14-21-day incubation period is one reason, the other (related) reason could be 'viral load' which almost no-one is talking about. Basically, being in a living room with say 5 other people (Italians have larger families in each household apparently, haven't researched this myself) that all have it (but don't know they have it) means that those 5 people get a higher viral load and are much more likely to seek/need testing/ventilators. This is the reason many doctors in other countries (especially those short of protective wear) are getting into trouble/dying themselves - basically more exposure to it makes it much worse, it's not just a case of just 'either you have it or you don't'. In other words, for some people, lockdown could actually be worse (depending on family size/infection amount) » Read

on the flip side, also I've read about 'viral load' which I knew nothing about before - maybe younger people will start getting in trouble there if they do go back to work, especially with their general health care/availability issues; could get real bad » Read

yeah that's the thing, people just immediately think 'Trump only cares about the stock market/economy, he doesn't care if we die' but having everything close is not really an option for a LOT of people in that country (a depression would obviously be very bad for almost everyone) - they are kinda screwed either way, but if second wave immunity ends up being a thing that's some small silver lining - lots of people will die there, it's sad, but there's no easy way unfortunately. Lockdown is the obvious knee-jerk response, but it really isn't that simple longer term (although it could also end up being correct) and a bad version of cocooning could be better than a good version of lockdown, however stupid that could sound/end up being - who knows » Read

let's say it works, US stocks could be in for monumental rises in October-time when Europe gets battered again and they are still going on as normal, just in time for Trump's reelection » Read

yeah, testing massive amounts of people is pretty important, even longer term Yeah I don't really doubt the China numbers too much (certainly not as much as some people) because they went nuclear with their shutdown - but I personally can't see how they don't get another wave within 4 weeks or so. I guess they can blame that wave on foreigners and they are then out of the woods, so to speak. Be interesting to see what the US do, it's not going to be enforced very well at all I wouldn't think but that could be as close to 'cocooning' as we're going to get » Read

that's why 'post-illness testing' needs to be a thing, loads of people are going to think they have it now (even if it was just a normal cold) and that they are still immune in October and ignore all advice. It could it could get way worse than this then (especially considering 'normal flu' hospital numbers at that time normally) » Read

Yeah - they seem to be one of those going with 'with covid' instead of 'of covid' so hard to tell. I'm assuming there's a few reasons why it's not relevant, but Spanish Flu starting killing younger people on the second go round - we won't know until that happens/doesn't happen » Read
