Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Pottered

Tony Pulis will need to reshuffle his defensive options after two of Stoke’s regular back-four fell foul of the referee’s wrath against Liverpool in Boxing Day. Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron will now sit out the Potters’ home clash against Southampton after accruing their fifth cautions of the campaign in Wednesday’s 3-1 win:

The duo are two of four players who are set to serve an automatic one-match ban in Gameweek 20. Villa’s Fabian Delph and Newcastle centre-half Mike Williamson are also sidelined against Wigan and Arsenal respectively.

While those four are unavailable, a quartet of new protagonists appeared on the Suspension Tightrope after receiving their fourth cautions of the campaign in midweek. Yaya Toure, Bradley Johnson, Jean Beausejour and Maynor Figueroa will all need to be on their best behaviour this upcoming weekend, as will 27 other players, including the likes of Robin Van Persie, Michu, Gareth Bale, Jermain Defoe, Adel Taarabt and Kevin Nolan; once Gameweek 20 is out the way, though, the limit is then extended to 10 yellows. So far, a quartet on players lead the race for that dubious honour – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel all have seven bookings apiece.

Both Darron Gibson and Carlton Cole are available this weekend, however. The FA have overturned three-match bans handed out to the pair in West Ham’s Gameweek 18 home clash with Everton – good news for those Fantasy managers eyeing up Cole as a possible double Gameweek punt; the 4.9 priced forward has produced two goals, an assist and six bonus points in four games since deputising for the injured Andy Carroll.

Elsewhere, Cheick Tiote returns for Newcastle’s trip to Arsenal after sitting out their 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford, while Marouane Fellaini serves the final fixture of his three-match ban as Everton welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park.

      Michu - I really put at 1%.

If it's swollen like Laudrup says, there's no way anyone can play 3 days later. An ankle tweak, with a bit of small pain, ok it can be done. But an actual sprain, with swelling, no way.

Stuck at the bottom of the last page:

    Morning all

Just a quick one, if you don’t mind:

Baines & Pienaar > Gibbs & Bale. Is this worth -4 points?

I really don’t want to sell either given the upcoming fixtures but I won’t be able to afford B & G if I wait much longer. I know Bale has Sunderland away and they just beat City but Spurs seem to be finding form again.

    Yay or nay?

Problem is they all score goals regularly and they're usually important ones for their team. Mata, Caz and Bale have all scored crucial goals. Silva has scored one in a rout. It's hard to get as excited about him. But nonetheless he is a nice differential and I'm sure he will keep ticking along if City can regain scoring form.

Silva isn't a much of a goalscorer compared to the others so nobody should be worried by not owning him. 1 goal in 1250 minutes says it all. Think people choosing him are doing so based on reputation and because he has a fancy name. City are hardly scoring goals either, so until they really start to click like United(scoring 3 in every game) you shouldn't need or want Silva.

Baird, Morrison, Fonte, Bassong, Javi Garcia, Schneiderlin(sp), Milner, Noble, Gardner and Diame all have more goals than him.

I am very afraid of Walcott this weekend, against our static defence. Hopefully playing Perchinio in their will give us a little more pace to deal with him. Colo and Willo have to be the SLOWEST partnership in the league. I was going to bring in Walcott for Silva this week, but then Bale got in the way. I've got no other way to bring him in. Thankfully Mrs China Mag has him covered

In my opinion, Walcott will comfortably outscore Silva over the period up until the WC (ie by more than 4pts). That would make the hit worthwhile, regardless of how many other transfers you want to make

If you DON'T think that walcott will outscore silva by 4 pts over that period, of course there is no point in doing the transfer

He might outscore him by 4 over a 3 week period but why take a hit for him now when u can get him for free next week? Unless you're saying he will outscore silva by 4 THIS week.

I'm not sure I still want him and I want Gibbs for the DGW anyway, so now might be the best time to get him and have more chance of XI.

looks good. though i fancy walcott vs newcastle this week but i guess those two transfers are more important

btw where have you been? you dissappeared since posting that article. looks like we are going with GD over h2h so a bunch of are hard work has gone to waste 🙁

I could do Sterling –> Walcott as well, but I think I'd rather do that next week tbh.

I've been out a lot over the last day or so. I saw the emails 🙁

up to you but i can honestly see walcott tearing it up vs newcastle! either on the wing or up top

no worries. yeahh :(. apparently a lot of the managers thought it was GD and not h2h so we are going to stick to GD. i strongly disagreed but in the end had to give in. Pratik said ENR and a fair number of people wanted it to be GD, even one or two that h2h would have favored

good evening deadzoners, got 2FT this week and 0.3M in the bank, what do you think i should go for?
    A) Tevez+Taarabt–>Benteke+Walcott. Untill the Jan WC this would give a front 8 of:
    Michu, Snoddy, Mata, Bale Walcott
    RVP, Benteke, Suarez
    B) my defence: Cameron, J.Enrique, Shorey, Sagna, B.Davies,
thinking of getting Demel+Vertonghen and drop Shorey and J.Enrique, but if i drop Shorey+Cameron i can get Demel+Caulker/Gallas and keep J.Enrique.

Everybodys defence seems to be in a bad way. You can play Enrique, Sagna and Davies this weekend and that is good enough, then Cameron is back next week too.

You can concentrate on improving your midfield I think.

Why are tevez owners so keen to get rid? Am I missing something or is it another case of 'he is subject to rotation' which may mean you drop him when he explodes with a 19 pointer

His goalscoring record isn't great this season, Dzeko is due a start, City in general aren't playing well... you're probably right, he's just a very frustrating player to own.

Yea, I'm being stubborn with Tevez and sticking with him...same for Berbatov.

Yet, I wonder why I don't go with Ba at least for Tevez. Cheaper and I'd imagine will end up producing around the same amount of points by the end of the season, no?

City just seems to be on the verge of a massive collapse. But isn't that also how they thrive?! idk, just confusing.

well in my case i have a lot of cash in my front 3 of RVP Suarez Tevez and atm i feel the money will be better spent on my midfield, then came the decision of whom to drop RVP (no way i'll drop him) Suarez (only striker at Liv, and very low chances of being benched even during the busy schedulle) and Tevez (city have been looking very poor, and they have another 3 world class strikers, so he seems to me like the most obvious to be dropped from my team in order to get the money to upgrade my midfield)

I would find a way to get mata(or other chelsea coverage in), but dont really see the urgency this week, other than perhaps price rise. You would need to take a hit to do it anyway for sess or snod and so not really worth the trouble. Being this week may have lineup surprises, I would save it. Nice work so far by the way.

    Davies/Rafael/Johnson (Nelsen/Cuellar)

    Bale/Mata/Sterling/Michu (Snodgrass)

    Lambert/RVP(C)/Torres

With stokes defence suffering, i'd like to leave lambert on in the hope that he may bag one.. but with my defence looking pretty shoddy and sterling struggling to gain points, cant help but think i need to make some drastic changes. Any ideas?

Merry Christmas Isacki, did you see our game on boxing day? I always like to read your tactical analysis! If you disregard our woeful defence (which will hopefully be remedied in the window with a new centre back and fullback), we are starting to look decent going forward. We matched both manchester clubs in an attacking sense, without our entire first choice midfield! Or is that just my toon tinted specs?

Anything worth a hit this week? I want to sell 2 out of Nelsen/Silva/Snodgrass, very much with the DGW in mind. So if i sell Silva it would be for Walcott. Worth doing Snodgrass > Nolan too? Or maybe use the hit on the defence who don't have the best of fixtures? Thinking i would get Joey O'brien in.

No way of doing Baines > cheapie (Davies?) and Snodgrass > Walcott? Waited on Everton CS til Gibson returned, they're still sloppy at the back, so decided to give up on him and playing Chelsea seems like the best fixture to do so.

hey guys. has anyone encountered an issue where the price you thought you bought a player differs from the Purchase Price shown in the Data View tab?

I am pretty sure I bought Michu at 7.8 and Guzan at 4.6 just before the price changes on FPL and guided by Fiso but being reflected as 7.9 and 4.7 in Data View.

Is there a time lag from when you confirm the transfer to being reflected in the system?
