FANTASY FOOTBALL SCOUT CUP VIII – FIRST ROUND DRAW REMINDER

Last weekend, we announced the draw for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII, as sponsored by Paddy Power. If you entered and have yet to discover whether you qualified, a score of 56 points (after hits) in Gameweek 11 was enough to clinch a place in the knockouts – though a few qualified on 55 points thanks to their high overall ranking.

The ties get underway this weekend in a Gameweek that stretches over three days, starting with a Saturday lunchtime Merseyside derby at Goodison Park and ending on Monday night, as West Brom entertain midlands rivals Villa at the Hawthorns.

With a new Cup system now in place thanks to behind-the-scenes work from our site developer Ed, we can monitor how the ties are shaping up as the Gameweek progresses. This gives us the chance to roll out updates after the final match of each day to show who is closing in on a place in the next round and who is facing elimination.

Later in the tournament we’ll even be considering live draws on the podcast, giving a name-check to those closing in on the prize. Once again, click here for a full rundown of the First Round Draw.

As the schedule begins to pick up pace over the winter, here’s a reminder of the relevant dates:

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

The last point on purchase times just gives you the reason: Aguero was also more expensive when you bought him. Their selling prices only rise half the buying price.

The manner in which SSN are constantly trying to build up this latest pay per view boxing match is really quite embarrasing.

They are both average boxers & they are deliberatlycalling each other names in front of the camera, like school boys, in an attempt to generate interest in their fight.

As if anyone sane will be paying to watch it.

don't know the extent of his injury, but he was bad enough that he had to be taken off in the 25th minute of the second leg qualifier, most important match of ours in about a decade, so it surely wasnt just a precaution.
He gave lots of interviews after the match, but all of them were about bashing people who criticise them for losing, apparently we cant say they are bad even if everyone knows it. Nothing about his injury.

I was thinking Giggs, he's probably the best passer out of the bunch, but the least mobile. Passing wise he is the next best thing to Carrick but a long way behind overall.

Much bigger than I'd like...Lots of posts quoting that he has had regular starts, which is true enough, but only for the period that Vidic has been injured. Add to that Moyes's statement that he will rotate his defenders and I'm not convinced he's a good pick....

Two main factors IMO to consider

      A) Mufc ability to keep clean sheets 3 out of 11 -- not particularly rock solid

      B) Rotation - with vidic taking one spot means that Evans is up against jones ( when not injured) Smalling and Rio .... - not particularly enticing

All in All I think there is too much risk

Planning on saving my transfer next week, so this week would you:

    A) transfer Toure out (and for who), or
    B) save transfer in case of an unexpected injury next week?

    Boruc
    Baines, Terry, Ward
    Nasri, Ramsey, Mirallas, Snodgrass
    Aguero, Suarez, Giroud

    Davis, Ravel, Toure, Clyne

Do you really want to be saving next week with defenders/Walcott returning from injury?
      B) for me.

Gonna play Ward or Clyne? I have same issue with Toure - leaning towards a WBA defender swap as I don't want to play Ward really...

Ward (I also have Boruc though).

I'm tempted with McAuley but he seems pricey when the likes of GJ and Mert are similar prices. Downside with GJ is tough game this week, downside with Mert is it'll mean 3 ARS and no Wally.

          GJ or McAuley??

All my front 8 have good fixtures next week, so not convinced any need to go. Possibly Nasri -> Walcott if Silva is back and Wally gets some decent game time this week.

I think Toure out is a priority, either this week or next. Who for is very tricky though!

Might as well take the chance on a Migs cleanie against that badly scoring Everton attack, plus he's got great fixtures afterwards so would be playing every week. Cheers

Ever get the feeling that Walcott is ever so slightly overrated by some on here? Probably play about 20 mins against the stingiest defence in the league and people talking about bringing him in for hits and even captaining him O_o. Then again, I guess joke's on me if he comes on and bangs in a brace...
