Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Third Round Draw

With little time for turnaround between Gameweeks, we roll out the Round 2 results and Round 3 Draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, sponsored by Paddy Power, this evening. Before we look at the remaining contenders for the crown, those taking part should note that these ties take place over Gameweek 15 – the Gameweek 14 midweek matches do not count towards your tally:

Our defending champion Wild Rover seems to have risen to the occasion and, having climbed the rankings in the last couple of weeks, now faces Hillbillypete for a place in the Fourth Round. Wild Rover is one of only three previous Scout Cup winners still remaining; GoonerDave goes up against Mufcste55 – the latter is the favourite here, sitting just outside the top 10,000 – whilst sleepingmaster pits his wits against bigfourleggedbeast.

Mark’s podcast co-host and Champions League tipster Granville swept aside Dullardinho last weekend and now faces The Upper Deckers, who sits just inside the top 1 million. Gaz Downright – who tops the Contributors and Moderators league – is up against 2ndMan, whilst fellow moderators applebonkers and Ryan have been drawn against ste2510 and Bedknobs and Boomsticks respectively.

Amongst the community members still in with a shout, Tommy Tynan’s Left Shin Pad takes on Jafooli, The Sarjeant faces Isacki, EpicFAIL has been drawn against The Shadow and Daniel plays host to The Flying Nugget.

Giuliop11 may well be considered the favourite for the title. Sitting in 164th spot overall, he’s the man to avoid – Ferenc55 stands in his way of a Fourth Round spot.

As usual, we name-check the highest scoring winner from the previous round. Realunitedfc takes the honour, after racking up 90 points in Gameweek 13 – now up to around the 17,000-mark, he swaggers into the next fixture against bcdahm.

If you fancy a glance back at the Round 2 results, click here or if you are awaiting the fixture list for the next batch of head-to-head, the draw for the Third Round is available here.

As always, good luck to those still in with a shout of the silverware.

Doing same to Nastasic. I think Evans may well be the best value at 5.0, and around the best. Evra if you have the funds.

Probably overly pessimistic as an Arsenal fan but I think we're not overly concerned about keeping CS against smaller teams because we can outscore them, so the ticker can be somewhat misleading. Ironically our defending against good teams can be very good indeed. Arsenal defence is for season or nothing really.

I think all the games might be tough. A bit of tiredness kicking in, rotation to rest some players meaning teams lack continuity and generally players not being as alert as the weekend.

But agree, Sunderland will be tough.

Definitely. Sunderland, both historically and this season, put up quite a fight at the Stadium of Light and seem to be turning a corner under Poyet after the Di Canio disaster. Last two home games they beat Newcastle 2-1 and City 1-0. Defensive returns look slim.

Expecting 0-2 points from both, with Barkley more likely to start. Might lose 1pt if Januzaj 1pt, Barkley 2pt.

        But Januzaj more explosive potential.

        Will take that.

    i want Rooney.

to get him i'd have to ditch lukaku and either Ozil or Hazard, plus 4pts.

    lukaku has utd
Ozil has HULL so i dont really want to get rid this week.
Hazard has some decent games coming up: sun, sto, CPL, ars, SWA

is it worth it this week?

I've had to adjust my position on Pantilimon in recent weeks; I thought Pellegrini was going to be biased and bring Hart back quickly. Turns out he is judging Pantilimon on his performances which have been good. Seems like his spot to lose.

It is not like the one he scored on was anything special. He simply timed the jump of the wall and got lucky imo. I do not think he has the quality of a Suarez/Bale/RvP/Rooney to bend it.

Your average fantasy football player looks at Arsenal's fixture and likes the look of it and sees Giroud is ranked as 3rd highest scoring forward on the transfers front page. They then bring him in.

Not knocking it, but that's what they do.

          I think so. I'm not sure how much rotation will happen to be honest but I think Walcott will come in for Wilshere, Flamini for Cazorla. Then perhaps Rosicky for Arteta;

          Flamini Arteta
          Walcott Ozil Ramsey
          Giroud

or Arteta for Rosicky and Ramsey playing CM.

It's a lottery though, hard to tell given the lack of options Arsenal have had in previous seasons.

I dunno, I think Walcott will start but then be 'rested' vs Everton.

If that happened you could very well have Walcott for *rest* mci against Hazard for stk CPL*

*if Hazard even starts both that is.

I've been waiting over those 3 cameos to gauge his physical condition. Yeah I think he's likely to start against Hull. I do get a feeling that there is a realization the team could do with him - there's been a lot of passing in search of a finisher of late, particularly with Giroud subdued. Ramsey and Wilshere have been the ones stepping up but Walcott would be a pass magnet.

The fixtures do look pretty awful now you say it though.

Yeah but I'm not going to have 3 Arsenal MF's, and Mert/Kosc are much the same as Szcz anyway, looking at the others people are transferring in like Marshall/Speroni/Howard you can get B.Turner/Ward/Distin for 0.5 cheaper and in Turner/Ward's case you don't have to play them every week.

Yeah. I got burnt with Vidic earlier. Confused really, thought with Moyes' defensive mentality they would grind out some borefest clean sheets. Been conceding quite a few chances actually. Guess given they have the midfield of a midtable side, they are now starting to concede like one.
