The Big Numbers – Gameweek 1-3 – Forwards

The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.

I would get Welbeck instead of Pelle but it would be wise to wait and see for "Dat guy". Too much invested on defence for my taste.

Baines doens't have monopoly on set pieces anymore for that reason too pricey.

I do agree with your point on baines. But that was true last season and he still did well. Plus mirallas is more likely to be rotated I feel given europe

I don't think Baines is worth the money at the moment.
I'd downgrade him to Pieters, get Green as second keeper (great rotation once SOU fixtures get trickier) and upgrade Boyd to Zaha so that you always have good cover if someone is injured.

    My team is..

    Begovic--Krul
    Debuchy --Wisdom.--cahill --PVA.--Caulker
    sterling--sanchez--Eriksen --fabregas--Marney
    Rooney--jovetic--Bojan

I have had good feedback on this before but I need more clarity please.

Very reluctant to wild card so these are some options that have to involve a hit as I think later on I can catch up in my leagues with a wild card in hand where others don't.

    A. Bojan Eriksen > Tadic Naismith -4
    B. Sanchez jovetic > Di Maria welbeck -4
    C. Sanchez Bojan and jovetic > Di Maria welbeck Naismith -8
    D. Bite the bullet and go Sanchez Eriksen Bojan jovetic & Caulker > Di Maria welbeck Tadic Naismith lovren -16

I really like d but -16 could be disastrous...

    Roberto Martinez's press conference

"Every player has come back from international games in a good frame of mind. They had good individual experiences."

Martinez also confirms no injuries were picked up by players on international duty

The boss says Ross Barkley is ahead of where he should be in terms of recovery but still half way through treatment

Steven Pienaar and Samuel Eto'o will be assessed ahead of the West Brom game after picking up knocks

"I thought we adapted well to each challenge in each of our first three games, but we have been slack in our defensive duties."

"That is something we need to correct. Our attacking play has been pleasing."

"Our defending has been a surprise. We've not lost any personnel. We had 15 clean sheets last season"

"I was never tempted to go into the market. We have centre halves that I couldn't be happier with. We just need that confidence back."

"We are well aware of what we have to improve on. We just need to get the players enjoying their football."

Martinez says Arouna Kone played 55 minutes in a behind closed doors friendly but hasn't given a date on the Ivorian's return

Leon Osman picked up a knock in that game and will be assessed today ahead of West Brom

"Aiden McGeady is a magician. He is in a great moment of form."

Is it worth bringing in Di Maria if I don't have any United Cover? Obviously he's a great player but I'm concerned with his fantasy potential given that he will most likely play in center mid if United stick with the 3-5-2 or switch to a 4-4-2 diamond

Morning all, quick question on price changes.

I know that to make a 0.1 profit your player must rise 0.2. Does the same rule apply to recouping losses?

For example, Rooney just dropped to 10.4. Does that mean to sell at 10.5 I now need him to rise to 10.6?

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      No. 10.5 = 0 movement.

    2. buffrey
      • 11 Years

      For more clarity:-

You only get 50% of gains (rounded down) but it knows purchase price so you will get 100% of everything up to purchase price.

So if bought for 10.5 you will get whatever value he is up to 10.5 (so now 10.4 and if he rises you will get the full price of 10.5, but if he goes up to 10.6 you are correct in saying you would need another rise to bank that 0.1)

Decided I probably haven't made it more clear after all.

      Apologies, I tried.

No I think I understand - so if he rises to 10.5 I can sell at 10.5 as that was my purchase price. However thereafter I need 0.2 to gain 0.1 profit. Correct?

Thanks very much for the help

Personally think JWP will keep his place, with Tadic moving central to accommodate Mane.

This is just a guess, JWP has played well so far so would be harsh to drop him, but he's young so don't expect him to play every week.

Sturridge to Balotelli, Costa or Aguero?

Costa seems the most essential atm.

I'm not sure what to do with my 2 ft.

    Krul / Foster
    Terry / Jones / PvA / Chester / Moore
    Cesc / Ramsey / Eriksen / Siggy / Marney
    Costa / Rooney / Dzeko

2 free transfers and 0 in the bank.

I want to get Sterling, but not sure how.

    Dzeko -> Welbeck
    Eriksen -> Sterling

    or

    Terry -> something like Bertrand
    Eriksen -> Sterling

    Maybe something else?

Anyone know if Mané will start? Need some differentials and his current ownership is 0.0...

Any particular reason? Or just think they'll ease him in?

    DDG (Gilks)
    Terry Debuchy Clyne (Wisdom Moore)
    Mata Ramsey Fab Henderson Siggy
    Rooney Welbeck (Fletcher) 3.6 1FT

I know I'm a bit lightweight up front but I'm in a process of reshuffling a bit. Best move for this week?

    A. Mata>Sterling
    B. Fletcher>Ade

Is this the correct order of best 4.5 Def's as of today?

    1. Wilson
    2. Taylor
    3. Coloccini
    4. Robertson
    5. Van Anholt
    6. Chambers
    7. Ferdinand
    8. Schlupp
    9. Cissokho
    10. Kelly
    11. Mariappa
    12. Blackett

I have Begovic and Krul in goal so am hesitant about Coloccini and Wilson, but if I'm looking to replace Chambers, does that make Taylor the best option, or is there someone else better?
