The FFS Paddy Power Cup – Wild Rover Claims Glory

Our congratulations go to Wild Rover after he clinched victory in the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup Final last night, following an 87-75 win over Mile High. The double Gameweek 23 proved a fitting backdrop to their head-to-head, with that winning margin ultimately coming down to each player’s choice of Arsenal and West Ham coverage in the final match of the Gameweek at the Emirates on Wednesday evening:

While both finalists handed Theo Walcott the armband and also had Kieran Gibbs and Guy Demel in their ranks, Wild Rover’s midfield proved decisive. Joe Cole and Santi Cazorla both returned double figure hauls, while Mile High received just four points from the Hammers’ Mark Noble, with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Bacary Sagna chipping in with three points apiece at the back. Wild Rover’s five double Gameweek players produced 63 points, then, compared to Mile High’s 51 from six – a 12 point gap which proved the difference between their Gameweek scores, despite our new champion taking a four point hit for the occasion.

The Final

Wild Rover now joins donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and previous champion Mch in our hall of fame and will now gain automatic qualification to the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup from this point on.

Along with the virtual silverware, Wild Rover also receives £100 worth of free bets with Paddy Power and £100 in Amazon vouchers, while Mile High gets his hands on £50 worth of free bets and £50 in Amazon vouchers. Mr KK receives £50 worth of free bets and £25 Amazon vouchers – he saw off ange1range1 94-75 to take third spot.

All our Quarter-Finalists from this year’s Fantasy Football Scout Cup also go into the first FFS Shield tournament, running over the final four Gameweeks of the season where they will face off against the eight Quarter-Finalists from the Members Cup, due to start very soon.

    A) Cazorla + Noble > Flelani + Taabrat
    B) Cazorla + Lambert > Fellani + Fletcher
    C) Cazorla + Lambert > Bale + 6.0m forward, at the moment Remy

I have Walcott, Mata, Sterling, RVP and Tevez. Other option is look at changing Tevez.

Asked a thousand times I know, but interested to know who is going 3-5-2 over 3-4-3?

If you're going 3-4-3, who would you drop from the Power 5?

      3-4-3.

Bale is out for me. I'm not anti-Bale at all, but I have strong reasons for keeping the others. Michu and Fellaini are the best VFM, allowing for strength in other areas, Mata is Mr Consistent surely nailed on for a couple of games and Walcott has to stay for me because of his form and fixtures.

I kinda agree with all of this, but it still doesn't sit right.

Are you leaving funds free to get Bale in for a Power 5 if he explodes, or would you remove one of the other 4?

Yeah, I just know I'll get burnt. But then if Walcott can outscore Bale in the next 4 games, I can say my decision was correct and then reassess. I have some funds to do Walcott > Bale or even downgrade Aguero if he isn't doing it for me, and go 3-5-2.

Those two are also my main candidates to drop from my MF, so I agree with this.

You think Gerrard offers better value than Studge? Hmmm, not so sure, especially as he'll most likely sit deeper with Suarez now behind Studge.

I'm thinking start with RVP Aguero Fletcher, and replace with Studge after 2 GW's.

It's who to drop from my strong 5 for this. At the moment its Bale I think, especially as Defoe as hit a dry spell and Ade is away.

No idea what to do after last night's game. Beforehand, my plan was to
do Puncheon and Podolski to Fellaini and Aguero. I can't get rid of
Podolski now can I? 5.4m to spend.

    Gibbs, Demel, Davies, Cameron, Cuellar

      Triple Arsenal is heavy
I'm keeping Cazorla and Walcott on the basis that Stoke at home the week after is premium, Liverpool have been defending well, so its not a fantastic game really

I would stick with your plan - 2 stud players in for 2 mediums

Hmm I have my reservations about Fellaini, but there's just no-one appealing to me in the same price bracket. Michu is still a danger man, proved it in the COCup over the 2 legs, and he's been hitting the bar a few times, so I've no doubt he's capable, but is he worth the 8.3m i would have to pay?

When selecting players do you really consider "coverage" team wise?
For example, if you have Suarez in your team you don't want to bring in Sturridge because you already have Liverpool coverage.

That would only matter if you are planning on benching players from time to time. Or?
In the example above, if I think that Sturridge will score more than any other player that I can bring in to my team then the fact that I already have Suarez shouldn't matter?
    Or am I wrong?

But you want as many points as possible don't you? If you think Rooney and RvP will be the two top scoring forwards in the game until the end of the season and you think they will be worth their respective prices, shouldn't you get them both?

So Gerrard's streak for last 7 GWs is are 9, 17, 7, 7, 10, 5, 9. Not all of them were Norwich. He played Stoke away and United away in these games. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I still don't get why Gerrard is not yet "essential" on this site while players like Bale and Aguero are who haven't been much impressive recently and are returning from injury.

I'm not making a transfer this week for the first time in a loooooooooooooooooooong time.

I found myself a long way behind in all my ML... then decided to take it seriously around GW13 and put the hours in to establish a team that long term would provide the points and get me back in the mix. I've had to do it gradually and take a few well placed hits here and there but I'm finally getting to where I want to be.

Very well done Podolski. Finally, you are showing the world why you are now established as a top 5 winger of the world.

Now you're next goal is to move into the top 3 and then to become #2 by surpassing LOSERnaldo. Of course, Walcott is the best winger in the world though, since he is also best PLAYER in the world along with Jack Wilshere who is also best midfielder of the world and of this generation.

    WHOM CAN STOP US.

I believe he can play for them in the CL yes. Apparently they are really in a period of growth for the club, with big plans. After reading up on it, I'm starting to think maybe he isn't as much of a money grabber as people think. Sure, maybe a bit greedy, but there were footballing reasons too.

He couldn't stay at Inter and the top english clubs didn't need him, so didn't want him. This didn;t leave him much choice. He could have gone to Russia for more money, but decided against it.

Happy Days! Well done, Wild Rover! 😀

I've been a Wild Rover for many's the year
I've spent all me money on WHISKEY AND BEER
But now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more

    And it's No, Nay, never,
    No, nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover,
    No never no more

I went in to an alehouse I used to frequent
And I told the landlady me money was spent
I asked her for credit, she answered me nay
Such a customer as you I can have any day

    And it's No, Nay, etc

I took up from my pocket, ten sovereigns bright
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight
She says "I have whiskeys and wines of the best
And the words that you told me were only in jest"

    And it's No, Nay, etc

I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son
And, when they've caressed me as oft times before
I never will play the wild rover no more

    And it's No, Nay, etc

Hehehe. Pogues ftw. Here is one of mine:

        The Second Cup

How sweet this cup, unsugared blended tea,
Infused with my love for you, and you for me!
So blessed, from rich estates, and Darjeeling
Expressing so much of us, our mutual feeling.

And as the pungent liquor slowly pours,
I reflect on this love of mine, and yours.
Our children, like the issue from the spout
Are sometimes here, but much more often out.

So much survived, and much more shared
        Leaves both of us with nerve ends bared;
And this gentle ritual of brewing tea
Provides for me, an essential sheltering lea:
Because your welcome presence lifts me up,
I always pour for you, the second cup.

I think too much spent in midfield. Downgrade Michu to a cheapie and invest in Pog to get a striker in the range from 6-7. If you have cash left then, invest in your defense.

It's kinda like Silva, Tevez/Dzeko and Aguero.

Aguero like Suarez is expensive, Tevez/Dzeko like Sturridge will be rotated from time to time. Then you have Gerrard, like Silva who is nailed on and consistent when playing. Plus Gerrard on penalties and set pieces is still very appealing. Unfortunately who do you drop from Bale, Mata, Michu, Walcott and Fellaini and still manage to afford him 😕

Serious differential. He's tempting me but I'm set on 3-4-3 and can't fit him in without shifting Michu/ Fellaini. Out of curiosity, would you rather Sturridge or Lambert as a 3rd striker Doos? Rick's been looking good, getting hard to ignore 😕

A, stick with Cam & Azza. No point in bringing in an injured player, moreover a player recovering from a broken leg. Convalescing from such an injury is a long drawn out process and its dificult to measure when he will be back. I will be bringing him in for sure, but not before he's fit...

I'd rather the security of set pieces and bonus points to make me feel better owning a 7.5 defender who may not return many CS althrough I might just leave it.

Can fit him in but it means ditching Nastasic or Azpili .. Azpili could be rotated so I dunno 😕
