Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Seventh Round Draw

We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

I hear this Parr fellow is a bit of a fans favourite? Likely to keep getting the nod over Moxey? I know he was first choice LB at Selhurst Park last season.

1ft. If Rooney's likely to start shall I do:
    A) Williams -> Koscielny
    B) Silva out instead
    C) Both?

SIGH. United assets under Moyes are such a pain in the ass.

Left to praying that Rooney and Januzaj play else I'm going to have Burner/Chester off the bench

Makes self note to avoid United assets in the Jan WC.

1 ft, 0.2 in the bank

    Mannone (Davies)

Coleman Terry Shaw (R Bennet* Chester)

    Ravel* Walcott Haz Whittingham (Silva*)

    Lukaku Rooney* Suarez

    * = Uncertain starter or out.

Was thinking about Whitts -> Sterling. Should I do it or do you think that the high number of uncertain starters might leave me with less than 11 playing and I therefore should replace one of those? Ravel can be replaced by a 5.0 or less

To follow on from Innsie's good work on defensive rotations, for those like me who are considering the Marshall/Mannone GK rotation and a rotating trio with 2 every week defenders on the WC. Have a look at Norwich, Hull and Palace rotating trio. MOlsson, Chester and Ward = 12.2M.

Avoids doubling on Cardiff or Sunderland, teams mentioned in Innsie's suggested 3 ways. From GW21 you can get the following fixtures, quite a few are away but maybe worth considering if don't want to double on Sunderland or Cardiff -

eve/tot, HUL/STO, HUL, car, WBA, WHU, car, avl, STO, sun, SUN, sto, WBA/SWA/car, AVL, whu, ful, avl, ful

Anyone have any opinion on the reports of Vlaar being rushed back for Sunderland, is he worth keeping regardless? Who to get in for 4.6 though, tempted by Bardsley; great fixtures and he'll always hold a soft spot in my heart after 2010/11. I don't really want to double up on Sunderland, I've got mannone, or do I?

he is back in training but not with the first team.

I think Lambert would be nuts to risk him considering his importance and we have a few very tough games coming up.

You won't want him long term and he's a doubt short term. No need to regret the sale.

You don't think he'll be rushed? Seems 50/50 although I did think Lambert was very hopeful

I think the report came from the Daily Mail, so you know... concrete stuff

Yep I'm thinking of doing exactly the same. His fixtures after Sunderland are pretty bad and this week you do need a decent bench.

From an attacking point of view Bardsley looks great. Someone posted a table in the members area earlier

Cheers, think I'll do it. I can always lose one of them with the wildcard if their newfound resilience fades!

Yeah I think one will be enough. See if Bardsley get a cheeky goal, you could make some money on him.

I was pretty impressed by Sunderland against Cardiff once they woke up. Plus they'll have O'Shea and Brown back soon
